VIDEO: Chiefs Rookies Talk about First NFL Practice
Four members of the Kansas City Chiefs 2009 draft class spoke with the media today.
DE Tyson Jackson on learning the playbook with Alex Magee:
"Right now we are just trying to get into the new playbook. We will go back to our rooms and question each other, just to see if we know what is going on. We go question, answer, question, answer back and forth to each other, just trying to learn the playbook so we can get on the field and know what we are doing."
DE Alex Magee on fitting into the 3-4 defense:
"Yeah. Like I said, playing defensive tackle and defensive end kind of showed my versatility in college. That kind of went into the whole planning process and the reason why they chose me. They saw me fitting into their scheme."
T Colin Brown on what he needs to work on:
"A little bit of everything to tell you the truth. Coming out of a three-point stance, remembering the plays and knowing exactly what I am supposed to do, playing faster and just little parts of everything we did at Missouri, I have to improve on."
K Ryan Succop on his range:
"It depends on the day. I’ve messed around on the practice field and have hit from as far as 68 yards. It just depends on the day and the weather, I guess."
The Chiefs conducted one practice this morning and have one this afternoon. As always, read the full interviews at the mothership.

They all
seem like very level headed young men.
I was hoping to hear something about Quinten Lawrence :(
Ryan seems like an easy going guy, I have high hopes for him.
“I’ve messed around on the practice field and have hit from as far as 68 yards”
Ya gotta like the sound of that.

Yeah all the guys seem like laid back guys
Succop is pretty well spoken. A little worried about Colin Brown though.

Brown
seems like a small town country boy who has got a lot to learn about life in front of a camera. My suggestion would be get ahold of whatever coach Haley is on to help his nerves
I liked the “Yes Maam” & “Yessir” from Jackson. It reinforces to me the “Right 53” where character is equally important as ability

I agree ......
I like to hear the guys talk to find out just how smart they are……..I think magee was the best spoken of all, but the rest of the guys did fine! Unlike Pacman jones that guy is a idiot and would have never played on my team( I likeded the script clubs) what a idiot!

At first,
I was really skeptical about drafting Succop… but reading how he was actually playing injured last year and is really a good kicker with a strong leg, I am excited about him. 68 yards!? That would be an NFL record if he could do it in a game.

The Kentucky game was well into his inury he improved after that
DATE OPP RESULT 1-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50+ TOT PCT LNG XPM XPA PTS
10/11 @Kentucky W 24-17 0/0 0/0 0/1 1/2 0/2 1/5 20.0 42 3 3 6
Spurrier didn’t have much that game to rely on except an injured Kicker
Alas If he had made a couple of kicks with a sports hernia at 40 +
