Around SBN: Jim Irsay: We Can Make It Work With Peyton Manning

I still believe Anquan will be traded before training camp. I hope to work together with the Cardinals to resolve this situation by then.

God I hate Rasenhaus

but I wouldn’t mind having Boldin on our team.

Don't blame me, I voted for content of character.

we've got money

burning a hole in our pockets. Why not use it to get Anquan in here to burn defenses.

Is braylon edwards still on the market?

I'd like the addition.

but I think it was in the big SI article about Pioli and the Chiefs the other day where he said, “This isn’t monopoly money.”

by JComp11 on May 8, 2009 11:42 AM CDT up reply actions

I think

that was more directed towards throwing money towards free agents that he felt didnt fit the system just because we had it. But i think both pioli and haley know the imapct that boldin could make.

by cassel4prez on May 9, 2009 12:34 AM CDT up reply actions

It would definatly help.

Boldin is a good player and I think he could really help get Haley’s system running this year.

I just really hope we don’t have to pay an arm a leg for him. I say we offer the higher of our 2nd rounders next year and a conditional pick based on his performance.

I'd love to have him in KC, but I'll be shocked if it happens

Boldin wants about $10m per year, based on everything I’ve heard from Pioli he isn’t going to make that kind of investment (plus draft picks) in any player…particularly a WR. Listening to that radio interview a couple days ago reinforces this for me.

He did it with Randy

Randy makes 9.75 million and he traded a 4th rd for him. I know theres a huge diffrence between a 4th and a second but they really werent sure what they were getting out of randy when they traded. Oakland and the black hole tried to ruin his career like they always do and he was walking his rout the year before he was traded. I think at least boldin is a better teamate then moss was

if the reports are true

about the 2nd round pick and a player (who knows), i’d love to give up that tonyG pick for AB. as far as the player goes, does anyone know what AZ’s needs are? do we have anything we can offer?

by Chris Sembower on May 8, 2009 11:44 AM CDT reply actions

That's too much

Next year’s draft is said to be much better than this year’s. That’s why we could not trade out our pick. We could get in the second the players that were going in the first this year. I think Pioli realizes this too, and that’s why he did not trade our second next year for a second this year.

by ALR on May 8, 2009 12:00 PM CDT up reply actions

then

replace 2nd round pick, with just “pick”. i dont know much about the draft next year, but i’m assuming pioli does. if boldin does go for a pick, i trust that pioli would be able to get a good value for him

by Chris Sembower on May 8, 2009 12:26 PM CDT up reply actions

It doesn't sound like there have been a lot of offers.

It really depends on how much Arizona wants an extra pick next year. It doesn’t sound like anyone was biting on the 2nd round requirement for boldin. I bet Pioli will pick him up if he can get them down to a third plus a conditional.

I see why you would like to have Boldin

I would like to have him too, however without giving any draft picks. Look at Page – he’s a 7th rounder. What if we give a 4th for Boldin and miss out on the next Jared Allen. I would rather waste picks on useless players then give them away.

by ALR on May 8, 2009 1:01 PM CDT up reply actions

I dont think pioli scared to take a gamble and getting a pro bowler for a 2nd rounder would we worth it, theres no way a second round WR next year will contribute this year the way that boldin could.

by cassel4prez on May 8, 2009 3:28 PM CDT up reply actions

I believe Boldin is the next TO

Randy Moss did work out in NE. However I think that had more to do Belichik than Pioli. Pioli will not risk by bringing in Boldin

except

i think that if the coach is to blame for moss’ success, wouldnt it be fair to give haley credit for what he’s already done with boldin in arizona? boldin and fitz had a huge amount of success last season despite having competition for passes from not only each other, but breaston as well. i think that if we landed boldin, haley would be able to squeeze the best out of him just as he did in arizona. another thing to consider, is that if teicher’s theory about Dbo is correct, and his work ethic isnt compatible with this new management style, we’re going to need a solid receiving option next year

by Chris Sembower on May 8, 2009 12:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Dbowe

may or may not have a questionable work eithic. Despite his flaws he has put up some pretty impressive numbers during his first two seasons. I think much of the questions about the lack of work ethic could be attributed to Herms player friendly style. I dont believe the last coaching staff pushed these guys hard enough. I think with an in your face style of head coach a lot of these players will be busting thier asses. If they dont work hard they will sit on the bench and their careers in KC could be very short. I would be willing to bet DBowe steps it up this year and his numbers will show that. Hopefully Haley can get the best out of him.

Don't blame me, I voted for content of character.

i definitely agree

honestly i cant say either way about his work ethic, all i have to go off is what teicher says. i dont personally believe it to be true, but who knows. and i think you’re right about herm’s style. there are sure to be growing pains going from the guy who’s soon to be all over the coors commercials, to the guy who got in a shouting match with one of his best receivers during the playoffs. i’m sure Dbowe can adjust accordingly.

by Chris Sembower on May 8, 2009 12:55 PM CDT up reply actions

2000 yards = bad work ethic?

Bowe pulls down 2000 yards in his first 2 years, and Teicher’s knock on him is a bad work ethic?

And Teicher’s not the only one to place this label on Bowe. If sports pundits really believe that Bowe should be working harder to be a better player, what goal do they believe he is failing to attain? Maybe they feel that if he worked harder he could have had 3000 yards over his first two NFL seasons, and accomplishing that in his position of the secondary target of a mediocre quarterback carousel. What a load of horsecrap.

I would love to see a Boldin/Bowe duo.

Good point - However do not forget one key thing

In both cases the teams were going to or winning the Super Bowl. You didn’t hear anything bad from TO when the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl. Once they stopped winning that’s when his mouth started running. Boldin did the right thing only because Arizona was winning. His agent probably told him – shut up and play and you’ll get paid. If he was such a great team player why request to be traded from the team that just made the Super Bowl?

by ALR on May 8, 2009 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree 100% that it is all due to Herm

That is why we blew so many games in the fourth quater. The team was not physically prepared to go for all 4 quarters. The coaching staff has been taking easy on them. There was no attitude. None. Once we went down by a score – GAME OVER. Never had the guts to come back. Did not care !

by ALR on May 8, 2009 12:59 PM CDT reply actions

No thanks.

If we’re gonna use two 2nd rounders for Boldin, why not just keep them and use one of those 2nd rounders to draft a receiver?

Plus just because we can afford it now, doesn’t mean we can afford it in the future. Once we have to start resigning our young players to bigger contracts, we’re not gonna be able to afford to keep everyone.
