No more equivocating: Chiefs will run a 3-4 defense
"We’re going to try variations of it," coach Todd Haley said Thursday. "We’re not going to force square pegs in round holes."

I think Kent Babb is a little misguided on some things...
There were hints, sure, and evidence such as the hiring of Clancy Pendergast, who oversaw the 3-4 defense in Arizona, as the Chiefs’ coordinator.
I was, and am under the impression they ran a 4-3 Under or variations for the majority of the time…I dont recall a 3-4 base defense there…but ill give that to him…
…and he was on the Arizona sideline the last two seasons as Ken Whisenhunt thrived with the 3-4 and led the Cardinals to last year’s Super Bowl.
“Thrived”??? Arizona played 3 good games defensively last season…lol…I duno, just makes it sound a little more dominating than it is in reality…

The 4-3 "Under"
Not sure why people are so excited about the 4-3 Under as though its some great new scheme thats been developed. 3-4 teams have 4-3 looks where the End moves over and the OLB comes down to play DE on a 4 man front all the time and have been doing it for decades.
Some teams started doing it more often and gave it a sexy name like “hybrid” and now all the sudden its all the rage. Hybrid in my opinion just means that you have players that are less than optimally suited for the position they are playing half the time (i.e. Dorsey playing DE in the 3-4 or Tyson Jackson playing DE in the 4-3).

No more equivocating
“some version of it”
“square pegs in a round hole”
sure sounds like equivocating to me.
this doesn’t seem to be “news”
