The Chiefs are looking at Hali as an outside linebacker, though he could play some at end when they move to the 4-3.
"They’re trying me at different spots, but I’ve got to think (linebacker) is probably where they’ll want me," Hali said. "Haley’s telling me both defensive end and linebacker, so I’m moving between both of them now."

Another interesting quote from that article...
"I don’t really need to be 275 pounds. I don’t even need to be 260. Maybe I can be 250 like (Pittsburgh’s) James Harrison or (San Diego’s) Shawne Merriman," Hali said, referring to top pass-rushing 3-4 linebackers. "I’m more comfortable at that weight anyway. I was 275 only because that’s what (former defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham) wanted.

this makes sense
If he can play around 250, I think Hali has just as much potential as Ayers, Maybin, English, Orakpo, Brown (the hybrid guys from the draft)
AND, he has a couple of years experience under his belt, so I am betting he CAN make the transition.
Will he be as good as harrison or merriman? maybe, maybe not… but if he’s even in the ballpark, I think this defense could be GREAT

go tamba
I think last years move to the right side was stupid. hopefully we can use guys the right way and get the most out of them. I think tamba can be a good player for a long time.

RDE was a stupid move
but that gives me little hope he can move to the right side and switch to LB this year. As the Predator, he’d be playing primarily on the right side and coming out of a different stance.

I guess I didn't realize he had put on that much weight
25 extra pounds is A LOT for a guy with a smaller frame like Hali…imagine what Merriman would look like (without the juice, mind you) if he bulked up to 275 and played in a three point stance…
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

and I think he's even a bit taller than Hali

wtf was gun's problem?
He also had Tank drop weight when he wasn’t comfortable doing that.
Now tank is putting weight back on and Hali is taking it off. It’s pretty bad when we have to do everything the opposite of last year.

If we do everythign the opposite
maybe we can actually stop another team’s offense, because we didn’t do that at all last year.

+1
Put Dorsey at safety while we’re at it. He’ll be more effective there than he was clogging gaps last year.

if EVERYTHING is opposite
14-2? haha

you can't help but to root for the guy...
Remember his back story from when he was drafted? After hearing what he went through growing up, I have no doubt he can pull this off! Go Tamba!

Yeah
growing up in Liberia would suck greatly…

Two Questions
Even at a lighter weight, pass coverage will be an issue for Hali and the Chiefs. They didn’t ask him to do much of that under Edwards other than the occasional zone blitz.
1) How often do other pass-rushing OLB’s in 3-4 defenses actually drop into coverage – I’m trying to think of the last time I saw Merriman dropping back and covering a zone against us.
2) When the other pass-rushing OLB’s do drop back in coverage, how good are they at it?
