and I repeat
sign that S.O.B as the Chiefs new Right Tackle!
It only makes sense, give B Rich and C Brown another year to develop, and provide depth.

He hits waivers, right?
This will be a baffling offseason if the Lions claim Foote and Jones off of waivers. They were looking at Jason Smith and Aaron Curry, but selected Stafford. Now they’re looking at getting two good players at the positions they wanted, as well as keeping Stafford.
Hopefully they can’t. Jones at RT would really help.

No, he's a UFA
You only hit waivers if you have less than 4 years of experience.

I thought I read that Foote hit waivers?
I’m confused. Maybe that report was wrong, too.

Nope
He was free to sign with anyone.

I stand corrected.
Thank you.

It's kinda tricky sometimes
It’s why Will Franklin (one year of service) had to pass through waivers before the Lions snagged him.
by Joel Thorman on May 6, 2009 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yup
Franklin was actually claimed by the teams with the #1 and #2 waiver priority, Det and STL.
I’ll certainly take Levi Jones, he’s a clear upgrade over McIntosh…but I’m not holding my breath, if I had with all the players we could have signed that made sense, I’d have been dead long ago.

Yep
Not sure what the salary cap implications are of a McIntosh release. He’s in year 3 of a 6 year deal.
by Joel Thorman on May 6, 2009 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not much of an issue
Because we are still insanely under the cap, but I don’t think we’d cut McIntosh if signed Jones.
Worst case, he’s the backup swing tackle, best case, he’s the starting RG, either way, you keep him for at least another season.

Here I thought
that the Patriots and Chiefs would be competing for players but it looks like is the Lions that might snag the FAs we want

Get him
if he doesnt cost too much. We shouldn’t waste too much money on him if he can’t stay on the field…then again, a toddler would do a better job than McSack.
