The Greatest Kansas City Chiefs, By The Numbers: #4

Tyler Thigpen...the greatest Chief to wear jersey #4? (via Photo Source)

We continue our greatest Kansas City Chiefs by the numbers with #4.  Here are your candidates.

P Bryan Barker 1990-1993

QB Steve Fuller 1979-1982

K James Hamrick 1987

P Nick Murphy 2004

P Dan Stryzinski 2001-2002

QB Tyler Thigpen 2007-Present

Thigpen is obviously the most well-known candidate on this list so I suspect he'll come out on top.  Click through to see a quick bio of each player's tenure with the Chiefs.

Star-divide

P Bryan Barker 1990-1993

Barker started his career with a four year stint with the Chiefs.  He went on to play 16 seasons with the Eagles, Jaguars, Redskins, Packers and Rams.  He made one Pro Bowl and one All-Pro list in 1997.

Career stats are here.

QB Steve Fuller 1979-1982

Drafted in the 1st round of the 1979 draft (passing on Joe Montana), Fuller completed 56.9% of his passes with 22 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.

He won 13 of his 31 starts for the Chiefs and ended his career with a 19-23 record.

His biggest claim to fame is winning a gold record and a platinum video award for the "Super Bowl Shuffle" with the Chicago Bears 1985 Super Bowl team.

Career stats are here.

K James Hamrick 1987

James Hamrick played one season in the NFL after going undrafted out of Rice University.  He holds the distinction of never missing a kick in the NFL.  Of course that was two field goals and four extra points.

Career stats are here.

P Nick Murphy 2004

Murphy is a St. Louis native and attended Arizona State where he was a Ray Guy Finalist.  He went undrafted in 2002 and eventually signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings sent him to NFL Europe where he was on the All NFL Europe team both seasons.

He appeared in two games for the Chiefs compiling four punts for a 47.3 yard average.

He is currently the CEO and owner of WorkBlast.com, a video resume site.

Career stats are here.

P Dan Stryzinski 2001-2002

Stryzinski played 14 seasons for eight teams in the NFL.  He played two seasons for the Chiefs with a 39.4 yard average on 137 punts.

He is 6', 237 pounds and played in the Super Bowl with the Atlanta Falcons.

Career stats are here.

QB Tyler Thigpen 2007-Present

When we went over jersey #2, there were quite a few write in votes for Dustin Colquitt.  We didn't include him because the Chiefs jersey database only goes up to 2004.  This time, however, we're including Tyler Thigpen.

Career stats are here.

Odd Note

Steve Fuller is my grandfathers’ nephew’s cousin. I share his last name.

Ha!

Nice…so I guess we know where your vote went.

Thigpen

got my vote due to proximation bias.

I went with Thigpen as well...

…but Barker was actually a pretty good punter in his prime. He’s probably worthy of some votes.

Fuller could have been better...One of Marv Levy's few career failures..

and of course John Machovic didn’t have a clue so he converted a TE to QB (Bill Kenney).

Barker because!

Barker was the punter for the Chiefs on Super Tecmo Bowl. Nuff said.
