Based on my conversations, the Kansas City Chiefs’ draft has many league executives curious – not about the quality of the draft, as that will take some time to determine, but about the character element, a signature and requirement of the building of the New England Patriots. The fact that the Chiefs selected some players with off-the-field issues has executives asking me, "How does character fit in Kansas City now?"

I know about Donald Washington's character concerns, but who else is he talking about?

i was thinking the same thing...
who besides Dwash has “character concerns”? i’m not even that concerned that donald has ‘actual’ issues… pioli and haley said they investigated the matter thoroughly and the consensus was that it was just a one time deal or that it was a maturity issue. its not like he got caught with an eight ball and a handgun.

Funny how they don't actually mention anyone
who are these “some players”?

By process of elimination
I’d have to guess Williams & Lawrence (which I have never read a single negative thing about)

It has to be Succop,
for the mere fact he is a kicker.
If not, I have no idea.
I don't have religion. I have Baduizm...and Billie Holiday...and really Erykah is the most beautiful woman in the world.

i'd be curious
to see which “many league executives” are really questioning our draft… it sounds more like this guy spent like 5 minutes reading articles on our draft and cued into the words “character issues” and elaborated the rest.
i was under the impression that our guys were pretty morally sound. our top two picks at VERY least seem like guys who have the ability to transform themselves into ‘true professionals’

Character doesn't just mean getting in trouble with the law
It also reflects devotion to the sport, intelligence, etc. Colin Brown = Intelligent?

I love how we are all so starved for any football related "news" during this time of year
That we actually read this type of non sense. There are no names and no facts to back any of this up. It’s just some guy who thought, “I bet I can get about 10” with this if I just keep rambling on with my own opinions disguised as what “league executives” think."

football related "news"
Well, there are (now) names and the kind of facts we’ve all been dreading…from NFP
Jake O’Connell, TE Miami (Ohio)- Blessed athlete that never took to coaching and never developed as a big time threat. 6-3, 250 with 4.5 speed, but never real productive and lacked technique and polish. Always relied on his athletic ability and never put in the work on the practice field.
Javriss Williams, RB, Tenn. St- Refused to sit at a big time school, elected to go to a small school and play right away. Rubbed some people the wrong way on the recruiting trail, but is said to be a "good guy" from the coaching staff.
Quinten Lawrence, WR, McNeese St- Injury concern, has had trouble staying healthy. Has a track body. Has had trouble adding bulk to his frame over the years. Questionable work ethic in the weight room, is only 6-0, 183 and is said to have simply packed it in after his ankle injury his senior year to get ready for the pros.
Donald Washington, DB, Ohio State- Was suspended the first two games of the 2008 season for violating team rules at Ohio State.
Hope Pioli tapes a copy of this to each of these guy’s lockers.
