And with the #31 Pick in the Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals Select...

Knowshon-moreno-6_medium

Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno

THE_TRUTH with the pick...

The Cardinals are in need of a RB to develop and take over the reigns of Edgerrin James. James will be 31 years old and considering having a year of less than 4.0 yards per carry, he might be looking at the down swing of his career. It isn’t news that he wasn’t happy with his role in the organization and is due a $5Mil.bonus that may or may not happen. Hightower had an even less than stellar year considering his YPC at 2.8, but is still going to be around for another 3 years considering the hit to their cap.

RB is the Achilles heel of the Arizona Cardinals. They averaged a whopping average of 73.6 yards and were 32nd in the league. That’s right folks, dead last and yet still managed to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Now some might attest that Arizona’s Offense was pass-happy, but considering that when the opportunity arose to run the ball, they obviously didn’t get it done, this need will be addressed in the off-season.

There are a couple of other needs for the Arizona Cardinals this year as well. One being a Center and the other being a need for OLB’s considering that 3 of the 4 OLB’s are in their early 30’s with only one being under 32. Consdering that Okeafor is a probable starter and the uncertainty of Laboy staying healthy and producing could make for an interesting draft this year in mid to late rounds.

CB is a position where there are two to three spots up for grab. These will also be addressed in later rounds. The issue with CB is that the Cardinals have two players under contract and are in need to at least 2 more CB’s. Maybe a trade might happen down the road, but they’ll need to look at filling those spots later rather than sooner.

There’s also a distinct need for Warner to stay healthy and considering his age, there’s an even greater need to shore up the running game in case Leinart is called in to carry the team. If this scenario happens, RB will need to play a much bigger role for the Cardinals to be able to put wins in the column. Hindsight is 20/20, but there isn’t a reason not to be safe.

Considering the draft board recruits on AP and looking at the best possible talent at picking 31st  the Arizona Cardinals pick Knowshown Moreno, RB, Georgia.5’11" -212 lbs.

Knowshon fits the Cardinals very well considering  he carried the ball 248 times for 1334 yards and 14 TD’s. But here is the distinct difference between him and the rest of the RB’s on the board: He can catch the ball as well. His skills in the receiving game were one of the best at 20 catches for 253 more yards. His skills at hitting the hole and burst of speed prove to be an asset to any team that decides to use him as a bull runner up the middle. If he’s still available at this spot on April 25th, I can’t see the Cardinals passing on the opportunity. Although the combine numbers weren't eye opening and truthfully a bit disappointing, his on field play for Georgia proved to be a bright light on a mediocre Georgia team.

Was Knowshon your pick the whole way?

I like it…especially since Edge will be gone quickly. But with Hightower there I could see other needs being a priority. Nice pick though.

Yep...all the way Prime

I was hoping he’d still be on the board. It was a toss-up between him and Well’s, however when I saw Moreno’s catching ability, I can envision using him as a slash type of RB…basically another receiver in some schemes.

No Brainer

This is the biggest area of need for the Cards and Knowshon is a great pickup. They cannot survive with Tim Hightower and his sub-3 ypc next year. And I actually think Moreno could fall this far in the real draft too.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

Agreed

Except that I don’t think Moreno will fall this far in the draft. Tough seeing him get past SD or Philly.

Agreed with both Prime and UC (cannot survive with Hightower).

It “might” happen. You never know this far down what can happen. Picking opportunities become more difficult since you can’t anticipate to a high degree who others might acquire.

Also, I’m thinking that if this happens and they get Moreno, then they trade James to keep from having to spend $5Mil.

Lastly, I figured that if all the top 3 RB’s ended up being gone, I’d get an OLB (if one was high) on the board and draft a RB candidate in the 2nd or 3rd.

No?

This was a slam dunk…If you didn’t like it then explain!

If you go out and you’re looking for the girl to wink at you and she hasn’t winked at you before 12 she isn’t going to. You might as well go home.
