Woohoo! I just got banned from Mile High Report ...

I just got banned from Mile High Report for posting the following from WalterFootball.com ...

With that in mind, this story is more about Denver's ineptitude than Chicago's triumph. I don't care if the Broncos walk away with seven Hall-of-Famers from this draft class; I will still give them an F in my 2009 NFL Draft Grades. Trading away someone of Cutler's caliber is unforgivable. If Mark Sanchez doesn't pan out - I'm assuming Denver and Jacksonville will swap picks (more on this below) - this move will set this franchise back for years.

The sad thing is that this all could have been avoided. Owner Pat Bowlen should have immediately called Josh McDaniels into his office and smacked him upside the head once the new head coach entertained the idea of trading for Matt Cassel. And once this news broke out to the media, Bowlen should have fired McDaniels on the spot. Doing so would have mended his relationship with Cutler, and he would have never been forced into this predicament.

Instead, the Broncos dealt one of their few strengths, leaving them with a mediocre offense to pair with their putrid defense and brain-dead coach. Yes, they now have a torrent of draft picks - they obtained Chicago's 2009 and 2010 first-rounders and a 2009 third-round choice - but who's to say that any of those selections will pan out? After all, McDaniels preferred Cassel, a system quarterback with limited arm strength over Cutler, an exceptionally talented signal-caller with a rocket arm.

If I were a Denver fan, I'd be scared to death. McDaniels clearly can't read talent. He's only 32 years old. He has no head-coaching experience. The defense is the NFL's worst. Orton is injury-prone and inconsistent. Brandon Marshall is hurt. And Mike Shanahan is miles away, laughing hysterically at this entire situation.

Instead of worrying about claiming the AFC West, I'd be concerned with winning a single game. And I certainly wouldn't be calling my friends, boasting about how my NFL team just made a trade for the ages. Instead, I'd lock the door to my office or room, turn off my cell phone and go back to downloading porn with tears in my eyes.

Guess they don't like me.  Oh well.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

they have had good qbs since I was born and kc has never had a great qb since dawson . Im sure we would have all killed to have elway as our qb i think they take it for granted . Letting jay go was the biggest mistake and who cares about draft picks they are nice but we all know with no qb you aint shit . The bears over night like i mentioned before for 20 plus hours this week . WHo ever grabbed jay would be a contender over night. the bears are contenders now

How Would You Get Banned For Publishing An Excerpt?

About the only time that stuff gets censored is if you publish an article verbatim without links (which isn’t a ban). Your user comment history shows that you joined Mile High Report about an hour ago and had no comments or FanPosts posted…all you’ve done is vote on one of their polls. Did they actually ban you? Because that would seem to be rather out of character for their site.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

If

an admin banns you and removes your post does it delete from your comment history?

It Hasn't In The Past As Far As I Can Tell

We’ve had guys who were banned here and their comment history was still recorded, including the comments that got them thrown out.

And for the record, we do not encourage, endorse, or tolerate people from AP who go to other sites and get themselves banned here on SB Nation for violating those sites’ conditions or terms for posting. We don’t like it when people come here from their sites and act like a bunch of dicks…it’s not acceptable for people from here to go to other places to do it. If they actually barred you from their site for a bogus reason, that’s one thing…but I’ve never heard of people getting barred for simply posting excerpts.

Esp about not going to other sites and starting a flame war (not saying that JacinB did that by the way).

I agree with UC

I have to throw the BS flag on that one

by Reno_Chief on Apr 3, 2009 12:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

That was my point.

I posted the excerpt, added a comment that the same article has the Broncos swapping 1st round picks with someone to move up to get Sanchez, and mentioned that it looked like there were people out there thinking that it meant the Broncos would be competing with the Raiders and the Chiefs for the bottom of the AFC West.

For that, I got banned.

It's A Sensitive Topic With Broncos Fans

Not saying they’re right or wrong because I’d have to see the comment, but it is their site and I imagine that they’re probably going to be a little touchy about it for awhile and probably err on the side of hostility if they think someone’s just posting to make fun of them.

The drunk Orton pictures remain …

by JacinB on Apr 3, 2009 1:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

I had to post the one of Orton going down on a guy in the back seat, but they didn’t even get pissed at that. Some were even laughing.

by Reno_Chief on Apr 3, 2009 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Here is the real reason Jacin B was banned

The manager of Mile High Report highly values his access to the Broncos organization. He’s been allowed to interview players and front office people. He is terrified that they will read his blog and cut him off. Hence, all the fascist actions.

Yes, you can delete a member, all his fanshots, fanposts, comments, and everyone’s comments on his comments. I’ve done it at Canal Street Chronicles (it’s pretty cool).

I think the Cutler deal is a great one for the Bears and that it has wrecked the Broncos. My fellow members at CSC think I am an idiot. If you’d care to jump in and tell them how happy you all are, I would appreciate your support. Go Chiefs!! (my afc team)

GW: "Sean, I can’t do anything with this guy."

by stujo4 on Apr 3, 2009 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

First Of All, You Have No Clue What "Fascist" Means
Fascism: Fascism is a radical, authoritarian nationalist ideology that aims to create a single-party state with a government led by a dictator who seeks national unity and development by requiring individuals to subordinate self-interest to the collective interest of the nation or race

The manager of Mile High Report isn’t a member of the government and he’s not using violent or coercive tactics to subvert his readers’ opinions…he “owns” that blog and can therefore set whatever standards he chooses and bar who he wants. That’s the right of ownership. If you don’t like his tactics, you have a right not to participate…he’s not forcing you to read or comment. So before maybe you should look words like that up before you start throwing them around like they’re meaningless. Maybe then people at your usual blog would be less likely to label you an “idiot”.

Secondly…

He’s been allowed to interview players and front office people. He is terrified that they will read his blog and cut him off.

Sounds like he’s got access to quite a bit of info that most sites don’t…if he wants to protect that, that’s also his right. Frankly, I’ve found MHR to have some of the better informed articles on SB Nation, and if he sees a need to protect it, that’s fine by me. I’ll take info from the source (the Broncos) over our own rumor and speculation any day of the week.

GW: "Sean, I can’t do anything with this guy."

by stujo4 on Apr 3, 2009 6:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, But...

Like many uninformed people who like to claim that “freedom of speech” gives them the right to say anything they want, you don’t seem to grasp that the First Amendment is only a limitation on the government’s ability to censor you, not other people’s right to boot you off their own blog when you decide you don’t want to respect their rules or courtesies.

I’ve personally got no problem with the Sports Guru or his blog, and frankly if you’ve got a problem with what he does, then go take it up with him. Your gripes with him have got no place on this blog.

And yes, you and everyone else is entitled to your opnion.
You aren’t, however, entitled to post it whatever website you choose. That entitlement lies strictly with the person that runs the site. Feel free to think whatever you want. Feel free to shout it at the top of your lungs.

But when you go to someone elses website that specifically states in their posted rule that the site is for Broncos fan and Trollers will not be tolerated prepare to have an inflamatory post trashed, commented on, or removed. That’s just the way it is, like it or not.

From Denver's Commenter Code

Openly wishing or hoping that the Broncos fail tells me you are not a Broncos fan. At that point you are a Troll and will be dealt with appropriately.

A lot of people pride themselves in getting banned. I remember when I got into it with some Miami d-bags one of the guys signature line was bragging that he had been banned from like 15 other pages. Some guys get off on it, fucking amateurs.

WalterFootball.com is a Troll?

I thought it was a great resource for information about the Draft and implications that off-season moves might have on the draft.

by JacinB on Apr 3, 2009 1:00 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's A Troll If...

You were simply posting it to get a rise out of people and not to try and further the discussion. It’s one thing to go over there and try to have a serious discussion about the implications of the Cutler trade and what it would mean…it’s another if you were just throwing out an excerpt to essentially say “Ha ha…you guys are fucked because you traded your QB.”

3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

by UCrawford on Apr 3, 2009 1:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It was in response to another comment about the Cutler trade, actually, and about the draft. Thus, it was topical.

Sure, there was ‘ha ha’ subtext, but it isn’t as if I didn’t also bash two other teams (including my own) in the only part of my comments that were about the supposed failure of the Broncos.

by JacinB on Apr 3, 2009 1:16 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

by JacinB on Apr 3, 2009 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's The "Ha Ha" Subtext That's The Problem

Even in the best of times they’re probably not going to be fond of that. The day after their team trades away their franchise QB, they’re probably going to be extremely unhappy with it…especially if the comment is coming from a poster who’s a fan of another team who just opened an account on their site an hour before he made the comments. I scanned through their comments on the main thread right after the trade happened and most of the people there were very upset by it (understandably).

Same deal we do here…we’ll give the regulars more leeway than we will new guys on questionable remarks. But last year, when Jared Allen got traded, do you think that we’d have appreciated it if Broncos fans had popped over to our site and gone “ha ha” because our incompetent GM drove our best defensive player out of town?

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

I'm Not Saying That What You Did Was A Bannable Offense, Per Se

But I’m saying that given the timing and the subject, it was probably in poor taste and you had to expect that it was probably going to get a rather hostile reaction…particularly if you’re the new guy posting on a thread where you don’t know them and they don’t know you.

Meh.

It was a poor decision on their part. The lose out on my brilliant insights, I lose out on … well, commenting on a board about the Broncos.

But, then again, losing out on awesomeness seems to be part-and-parcel for Denver these days. McDaniels instead of Shanahan. Orton / Dirty Sanchez instead of Cutler. Now they must add me to the list of awesomeness lost.

When you go out to other peoples’ sites that you should be mindful that they have a right to set the tone they want there and be respectful of that when you decide to post on their site. It’s their house, after all, not ours. We have our standards that we set and enforce with people who roll through here, whether they’re Chiefs fans or fans of another team, and we’d want them to grant us the same courtesy.

Do some research before you open your mouth.

Look HERE, for example.

See down there, in the box that says ‘Mile High Report’ with the picture of the mountains and the horse’s arse? See where it says ‘3 comments’.

Now, look right next to that, where it has the box that says ‘Recent Comments’ and the text that says ‘This user has not made any comments’. Have any trouble finding the congruency there?

I don’t expect that you’re actually able to put two and two together on your own, so I’ll spell it out for you: I became a member. I commented (three times). They banned me and deleted the comments. Thus, it shows that I made three (3) comments in the first box, but doesn’t show any comments in the second box.

I didn't.

I posted what I posted. It got deleted. I re-posted it here, because I figured that the residents of this site would enjoy it both as a ‘ha ha, look what people are saying about Denver’ and as a ‘You got banned over that? Touchy, aren’t they?’ sort of thing.

And, I was content to leave it there and, in fact, we had left it there — with discussion about how touchy MHR may be over the situation and with laughing at Denver’s expense.

ksjhwk was the one who took it upon himself to a) take it back to MHR by ‘apologizing’ for me, not on my behalf but because of my very existence (which, I suspect, would be enough to piss anyone off), b) call me a liar here, and c) as a result of those items, turn the whole thing into a pissing contest.

( And, for that, I apologize for ksjhwk’s existence. Unfortunately, this site doesn’t have an ‘Ignore this asshat’ functionality. If I could’ve ignored his existence, I’d’ve been more than happy to. )

Basically
I re-posted it here, because I figured that the residents of this site would enjoy it both as a ‘ha ha, look what people are saying about Denver’ and as a ‘You got banned over that? Touchy, aren’t they?’ sort of thing.

We actually have a pretty good relationship over here with the guys at Mile High Report…we cite their articles frequently and several of their commenters come here to post when there’s something relevant on our site. They’re also usually respectful when they come here. Frankly, if you have a problem with how MHR treated you, you should have left it with MHR…not written a “woohoo” post about how you got banned. It’s neither interesting nor productive and it’s not welcome here (as the general tenor of comments on this post should illustrate).

ksjhwk was the one who took it upon himself to a) take it back to MHR by ‘apologizing’ for me, not on my behalf but because of my very existence (which, I suspect, would be enough to piss anyone off), b) call me a liar here, and c) as a result of those items, turn the whole thing into a pissing contest.

That’s between you and him and MHR…it was written on MHR, it’s MHR’s deal to fix if you want it fixed, it’s got nothing to do with Arrowhead Pride, nor are we interested in seeing you and him hash it out over here. Seriously,

isn’t cajoling and teasing part of rivalry and sports itself? I don’t see his post as trolling or flaming, just an arrow to another article that, in the nature of critical analysis, could have just as easily been posted by an MHRer. I wasn’t around here then, but I’m sure there were people pining about how boneheaded the Jared Allen deal was and how the leaders of the team dropped the ball, let alone something even more innocuous as posting a link to another article stating the same thing.

If he gets banned for posting that article, then I should get assaulted for my “”http://www.milehighreport.com/2009/3/31/817321/bowlen-the-broncos-will-trade-jay#13582942" target="new">Dude where’s my job?" post.

BS aside

I think this draft class will make or break McDaniels. They have 2 1st rounders, 2 3rd rounders, and 2 5th rounders. This will be a prime opportunity to showcase how good of an evalatuor of talent he is, compared to Shannahan who I thought was pretty good. They had one of if not the best offense’s in the NFL last year, now they’ve brought one of the best coordinators in the league to run that offense sans Cutler. He has a great opportunity to prove how good of an offensive mind he is if he can score without a Pro Bowl QB. If I were Denver I wouldn’t trade up for any QB. If Sanchez falls to 12 take him but instead use the two 1st rounders on the defense.

Bronco’s have caught a lot of shit for being active in FA but personally I think they’ve made good acquisitions. Gaffney & Jordan know his system, I wouldn’t fuck with Brian Dawkins, and Chris Simms – hey – I wanted him here last year when we were going thru QB’s like underwear. Firing McDaniels would have been a bonehead move by Bowlen, he just hired the guy so it was really make or break with them. Cutler seems like a malcontent anyway and as active as they’ve been in FA they’re clearly rebuilding so maybe this was as good as a time of any to move him ESPECIALLY considering what they got in return for him

Rec'd

I agree. Personally I think he’s going to drop the ball in the draft. In NE, Belichick and Pioli handled the draft picks. McDaniels hasn’t had a lot of time to sit at the big boys table. Maybe I’m just hoping.

by Reno_Chief on Apr 3, 2009 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I get the impression

not only does Belichick but also Pioli believes in McDaniels. That vote of confidence solidifies him in my eyes and if McDaniels had not already signed w/ Denver I think he would had been the HC here after Pioli took the job. I think its actually quite exciting whats happening over in Denver and while its easy to laugh at the circus thats been going on, they have the OPPORTUNITY to become something dangerous. They’ve got good pieces on both side of the ball (Clady’s insane) and if they draft well they could be a lot better than people are anticipating

I'm Of Two Minds About The Trade

On the one hand, I think Denver’s taking a huge risk by letting him go…QBs with his talent don’t come along all that often. And it was a long time between Elway and Cutler for the Broncos with several misfires when they thought they had a franchise QB (Griese, Plummer, etc).

On the other hand, Jay Cutler reminds me far too much of Jeff George…both in talent and attitude. And while George was a solid QB, he never really reached the potential that was predicted of him and he brought baggage with him to everywhere he went afterwards (some of it fair, some unfair, but still). George also wasn’t the guy you wanted leading your team or pinning your championship hopes on. Look at it this way…if the Indianapolis Colts had offered you Jeff George in exchange for two first-rounders and your starting QB, would you have taken that deal? Or would you have wanted to invest a giant contract in him?

Maybe the Broncos really screw up this draft and make the trade a bomb for themselves…or maybe they get a decent QB and two great players out of the deal with those first rounders. Point is, they might have made themselves worse for 2009 but they’ve also put themselves in position to potentially get a lot better in 2010.

No matter what happens

they will be better next season than the Chiefs were last season so in effect their rebuilding effort will have been more successful.

I look at the Bronco’s like I look at the Chargers as both being one of the few teams in the league capable of finding franchise QB’s. Some teams it could ruin for a decade losing their franchise QB’s where others can seemingly replace them every 5 years. I dont think they’ll find their solution next season but I’m confident it wont be long before they find their QBOTF.

The Chargers Find Them Because A.J. Smith Is Probably The Best Drafter Of Talent In The NFL

His draft picks have panned out at a very high rate…plus he accurately gambled in 2004 that Phillips would be a better QB than Manning (which he is) and was able to trade for Phillips in a deal that also got him Shawne Merriman.

Smith may be a complete asshole as a person, but as a GM he’s very sharp on identifying good players and acquiring them.

I thought Denver gave up their 5th rounder.

Besides that, you’re dead on.

You may be right

dont know the specifics on Denver’s half of the exchange, but I know originally they had 2 5th rounders when they traded Keary Colbert to Seattle last year for a 5th (who was to only be cut weeks later by the Seahawks)

Also

it’s waay to easy to rail on Orton but all things considered, he’s a competent QB and one hell of a lot better than Sexy Rexy. He can be a good game manager and his #‘s last season weren’t all that bad. In fact, I’d love to see them compared to Bones because everybody loved him last season but nobody has given Orton a passing grade

by KansasCityShuffle on Apr 3, 2009 12:59 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Plus

as Chiefs fans, we really have no room to be dogging on Orton as a Bear. As a Bronco that remains to be seen, but as a Bear he was a far better Round 3 QB than ours ever was/will be

The trade happened and now its yesterday's news

Let’s please move on to Chiefs news and let Cutler start a fresh day in Chi-town. I’d rather see an article about what was found in Tank Tylers jock strap than to hear one more thing about Cutler.
