In a surprising yet predictable move, the Arizona Cardinals have parted ways with running back Edgerrin James, defensive end Travis LaBoy, and cornerback Roderick Hood. James was the one move we all expected to happen, the other two, not so much.

We'll have more on free agents with a Pioli/Haley/Parcells connection tomorrow morning so make sure you check back. Arrowhead Addict is talking about LaBoy now.

Travis would make sense...
we are going to be running Zona’s defense and he worked with Clancy last year

I had forgotten how many free agents end up popping up after the draft
The Chiefs will still be making improvements, and that is exciting.

We are pretty likely to sign him...
…and I would not be against it…

I'd be willing to give him a shot
He’s injury prone but we now have pretty good depth on the D-Line after the draft.

(Part 2)
Hood is an excellent bump corner, I wouldn’t put it past Pioli, Haley, and Pendergast to sign at least one of the mentioned

Yes
I would rather have Hood, if any. He has nice stats…and he is not very old. Nice solid DB. You can never have enough of those guys.

honestly...
I wouldn’t be upset if they signed all 3 of these guys!
A predator, depth at CB and RB?
why not?

When you are 2-14
you can make that statement a lot—“LaBoy is worth a look”
just insert a name.
“( ) is worth a look.”
I do agree though, he is probably worth a look.

"siavii is worth a look"
I have poked a 340lb (probably 380 by now) hole in your logic

I would take LaBoy
Purely for intimidation factor…the dude is straight shredded up with that long crazy hair, what a freak. I would be shitting my pants if knew i had to block the crazy man with jagged rocks smuggled in his arms.

The real question...
I’ve been reading you all for almost a year now, and finally had to sign up and post. I love AP thanks for all the great info.
Shouldn’t we all be questioning LJ’s future…with Edge’s release, as perfect example AZ probably tried to move him on draft day (as we prob did LJ) though unsuccesful, thus his release…the question is will LJ’s future be the same since we couldn’t move him…that is assuming we tried…
Just something I thought was pertinent….
This comes from a chiefs fan surrounded by Donkey haters….

It means we're probably not trading LJ I think
I’m sure the Cards tried to trade Edge before releasing him – but there were no buyers. LJ is only a year younger, has the possibility of arrest coming up and hasn’t eclipsed 200 carries since 2006, has publicly said he wants out (diminishes value), and might having a suspension coming.

LJ's going to stay a Chief
I’d expect the Broncos to pick him up should we release him. We don’t want to do that for a division rival.

Wouldn't we be doing that TO a division rival?

by RedNose on Apr 29, 2009 7:19 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ha!
But seriously, if we cut LJ and Denver signed him, , I think we’d regret it…with a good o-line, I think he has a 1000 yard year or two left in the tank.
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

If he swallows his pride and realizes he's most valuable as a 10-15 carrie situational running back
He’ll be valuable for any team. If that’s the case, I hope the Chiefs keep him. If that’s not the case, get rid of him and Denver can have him, because I don’t thin he’ll be effective as a 20-25 carrie back for a full season ever again.

All i read at first glance was..."if he swallows"
I was worried about you, Red…
by woodman212 on Apr 29, 2009 1:36 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I hope we keep him
He’s the only proven back we have, Charles had his moments last year but do we trust him to not fumble all the time. Or make it through the whole season without an injury. I say NO. I hope we don’t release LJ our O-line is only getting better, I agree he has another season or two left..
by BoulderChief on Apr 29, 2009 9:04 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
IMO
He’ll only be released if he makes himself become a distraction to the team. He’s shown himself to be a great runner when he’s got a chip on his shoulder, and he did manage nearly 900 rushing yards last year in 12 games for a awful team.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s blown through most of his money already & realizes that he needs his 2009 pay. Besides, Randy Moss has been able to change, no reason LJ can’t too.
