Chiefs sign UDFA LB Corey Smith
They did call back, however, and it was Kansas City Chiefs Director of Pro Personnel Ray Farmer to ask questions of Smith assuming that his agents at Metro Sports Agency had already told him the good news — that the Chiefs wanted to sign Smith to a two-year deal and bring him into camp as a free agent.
So Ray Farmer survived the personnel purge. That makes three linebackers we've signed/invited to rookie camp after the draft. We're tracking all of the Chiefs' UDFAs here. -Chris

Leroy Hill is available
But I don’t know where he would fit in the 3-4. He’s a damn good linebacker though.

YES
I just read that the Seahawks took the franchise tag off of him. 26 years old and had 7.5 sacks in only 9 starts last year. This guy is the missing piece to our LB corps. PLEASE make it happen Pioli!

Absolutely
I saw that yesterday and thought that KC should make a play now that no compensation is involved.
I hope they do anyway…but you just can’t tell what they’ll do.
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

Oops messed up his stats
He only had 1 sack in 12 starts last year lol. He had 7.5 in 9 starts his rookie year. Still though, he’s a solid LB and obviously franchise tag-worthy.

Most likely an NFL Safety
At 6’1" 221, Smith will translate to an NFL Safety.

Larry Foote being cut
could be a very good pick up for us

Hellz yes
Put Foote in the middle next to Thomas. They’re old, but atleast we know they can tackle. It’s really going to be nice to see a defense that actually tackles the runningback.

He's not even that old
29 I believe. Will be 30 when the season starts. I mean he’s kind of old in football perspective, but should still have AT LEAST 3 years of good productivity.

I've made this point elsewhere
But I’d actually like to see Foote replace Thomas.
That way you keep DJ at the Will.
We’ll see what Pioli decides, Foote is a pure 3-4 ILB which translates better to a 4-3 Under or pure 3-4 than Thomas does.

Smith
click on the “Mile High Report” above…
sounds like he’s a well rounded LB, that could have been drafted.
True, he’s small… but he could contribute!
good UDFA signing
