Detroit Lions Invite LB Daniel Holtzclaw to Rookie Mini-Camp

554400_medium

The Detroit Lions have reportedly invited Daniel Holtzclaw, a linebacker out of Eastern Michigan, to their rookie mini-camp.

Arrowhead Pride has been tracking Holtzclaw for about a year.  There were a lot of people who wanted the Chiefs to give him a look.  Check out the links below on Holtzclaw.

Though it wasn't with the Chiefs, I can say we're all happy to see him get an opportunity.

Update: Changed the title to more accurately reflect his situation with the Lions. -Chris

Ahh freakin' Michigan...

He probably got quite a few offers and chose the Lions since they are close. Oh well, hopefully he’ll do well there.

He could end up starting on the inside for Detroit

I’m definitely gonna be cheering for him to make a starting spot. Good luck Daniel!

Best of luck

Would have liked to see him in Red & Gold…

Still could

They may get a brain fart and cut him in camp, then we could pick him up

No he's not

Search the site for Daniel Holtzclaw, had some situations that ended up with him doing a couple interviews for AP and has a great drive for the game.

Lots were hoping the chiefs would pick him up so we could get someone that has the mentality to make this team what it’s supposed to be.

In the end, GL man if you read this, and hope you do well in detroit.

He's a self proclaimed "ditch digger"

I love that line from Gun :)

From Gunther himself
I was supposed to be on the sideline in the Super Bowl, because Bob Kraft said "Here’s a contract, sign it," at midnight in a hotel in Boston. I said "Mr. Kraft, I’m not signing it because I can’t do this job for you. I need to do something else." So I went to Tennessee and coached linebackers. As I reflected on everything I had no one to blame except myself for what happened. I’m not a head football coach. I’m a ditch digger.

Good lord we need a MLB.

I am officially a Daniel Holtzclaw follower now. I hope ol Gunther can whip him into a successful linebacker. Nothing better than a guy that strives to be the best. Now to try and find some video…

by BIGWalt2990 on Apr 27, 2009 5:49 PM CDT reply actions

he probably no idea the guy existed

after reading us and looking into the guy he probably shit a brick and convinced the brass to sign him immediately.

by Leaf on Apr 27, 2009 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions

oh you know it

Shit a brick indeed. And knowing how tightly coiled up gunther is, well, it probably went in as coal and came out a diamond! :)

good luck daniel

while i would have loved to see you in KC, i hope your career is a good one cus you deserve it. if things don’t work out in Detroit, we’d welcome you here.

I don't think he has signed with Detroit yet

I just read an article that said he agreed to go to their rookie camp and that Kansas City is still in the mix. I put it in the fanshots.

by Vince D on Apr 28, 2009 12:10 AM CDT reply actions

I don't know if KC is actually looking at him.

They sure as hell should, though. He’s the perfect fit.

by SupremeChief on Apr 28, 2009 10:21 AM CDT up reply actions

the best support of this is

the fact that the only information i can find regarding him signing him Detroit is out post. i’ve seen several posts referencing ours as their source, but no official source could be found. lets hope everyone.

by Leaf on Apr 28, 2009 2:15 AM CDT reply actions

i saw that too

but when i read it again it doesn’t actually say he signed. it’s worded to sound like he did but it just said that he was added to the team for the rookie camp which supports vince d’s post
