Are there any limits on the number of guys we can have on our roster to begin the year before cuts when we are required to be at certain numbers?

by Primmtime on Apr 26, 2009 9:23 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Not sure

But I think you have 80 going into training camp (then a cut down to 75 then a cut down to 53).

Do we have an offense?

Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!

by Eric Allen on Apr 26, 2009 9:24 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Comparitively speaking

The offense wasn’t nearly the problem last year.

by Joel Thorman on Apr 26, 2009 9:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Very true, but

there is a certain “let’s only go young” tinge to this.

We praised Pioli for balance. I happen to think this may be somewhat myopic.

To clarify,

I was comparing Herm’s youth movement to the defensive movement so far.

What about Vrabel and Zach Thomas?

I think they provide good veteran leadership for the defense.

by TheDBroShow on Apr 26, 2009 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, they do

Which is why I clarified my statement to highlight that the focus on defense this year is comparable to the focus on youth last year.

A little imbalanced.

I am not questioning the age of the defensive pick ups.

Oh, I see.

I feel that the imbalance in favor of getting defensive players just makes up for the imbalance on our team of our defense being awful while our offense was at least okay. I think we have a far more balanced team thanks to this draft.

by TheDBroShow on Apr 26, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Honestly,

I am only concerned with the OL at this point.

It has been a weakness for years and we haven’t paid as much attention to it as I would have hoped.

Yeah, I'll give you that

Right now we’re lining up Albert, Waters, Niswanger, Goff, and a competition at RT. I think it’s an adequate line, but not really strong. If Waters refuses to play or something, we’re screwed. It would’ve been nice to add another body or two on the line, but you can’t have everything I suppose.

Agreed.

Yeah, but we need to score..a lot.

Balance right?

Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!

I want the old attitude

of scoring on every possesion. Is it to much to ask to have a dominant defense, and potent offense?:)

Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!

Total so far.

They have signed 4 players so far in just the past hour. I think pioli plans on signing a but load

Jovan Belcher

Belcher, at 6-foot-2, 238 pounds, is being eyed as an outside linebacker.

by Lilpecina25 on Apr 26, 2009 9:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Belcher is intriguing

Could he be a poor man’s Mike Vrabel or James Harrison? Great pass rusher in Div 1AA.

Seems like a high motor guy. They say he is a special teams warrior. My favorite part is “Leaps over trash.” That’s good to know.

If Pierre Walters...

becomes a successful NFL player, he’s going to be my new favorite chief. The only other player from Eastern to make it to the pros as a player is Tony Romo, whom I dislike.

I wish they would sign a few of these guys,

Zack Potter- 6’7 280 DE
Nader Abdullah- 6’5 295 DE
Khalif Mitchell- 6’5 315 DE

Antonio Appleby-6’4 245 LB
Lee Robinson-6’2 250 LB
Anthony Felder-6’2 240 LB

Just to name a few!!

by T MO 5 on Apr 26, 2009 10:24 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow! This Pioli guys doesn't waste time in signing these guys....

It would be a few days before Carl had anyone UDFA signed.

Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.
