Question for anyone that knows...

What defense is rumored that we actually run this year. i keep hear 3-4 move from the 4-3. But I come across people saying were basically looking at 4-3 under. Im lost???

by tdbowe on Apr 26, 2009 8:14 PM CDT reply actions

My theory is

The 4-3 under was plan B if we couldn’t get the personnel to run a 3-4. With the linemen we got today, and with Haley saying today that he sees Dorsey as an end, I think we are running mostly 3-4 now.

by TheDBroShow on Apr 26, 2009 8:19 PM CDT up reply actions

hybrid

we’ll most likely play a 4-3 under/3-4… you’ll see either at different times like the cards had.

by deflep1691 on Apr 26, 2009 8:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed. Sounds like Dorsey fits the

Darnell Dockett role in AZ. That’s worked out alright for Dockett, with him recording 3 sacks in the Super Bowl.

by WesternChief on Apr 26, 2009 8:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Also, the guy we drafted in the 3rd round from Purdue, Magee...

In his Draft profile, they said that he could fit in perfectly in a Darnell Dockett-type role.

So that was nice to see.

I really like this dude.

Defense

So jackson and dorsey would be ends with tank in the middle. 4 backers…

by tdbowe on Apr 26, 2009 8:25 PM CDT reply actions

And then when they change things up and do the 4-3 under....

Jackson would move out to LDE, Dorsey would slide into the 3 technique and Hali would drop in from OLB to RDE.

It could work I guess. I haven’t watched enough of the 4-3 under to really get the concept yet.

by ChiefDJ on Apr 26, 2009 8:31 PM CDT up reply actions

I think

We have Jackson and magee on the ends and tank in the middle and somehow dorsey rotates

by Lilpecina25 on Apr 26, 2009 8:28 PM CDT reply actions

I can't imagine

They would put Dorsey, former #5 pick and a guy everyone agrees has tons of talent as a bench player coming in on the rotation and start Magee.

If they were going to do that, they need to trade Dorsey off for picks and pick up another 3rd round guy to come in off the bench. Makes no sense to pay a guy that much money for a specialized role.

by ChiefDJ on Apr 26, 2009 8:33 PM CDT up reply actions

So...

Dorsey and all that money would not be a starter

by tdbowe on Apr 26, 2009 8:31 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah,but..

Why would we pick up a magee with that 3rd rounder if the know dorsey is going to start

by Lilpecina25 on Apr 26, 2009 8:37 PM CDT reply actions

Why would they keep Dorsey if they were going to make him a backup?

The guy has tremendous potential. Would be a total waste to make him a backup.

3rd round is not too early for a rotational player and from the sound of him, he will be able to play both the 5 technique and the 3 technique, so he will be able to step in to backup both Tyson Jackson or Dorsey when they move to the 4-3 under.

by ChiefDJ on Apr 26, 2009 8:43 PM CDT up reply actions

exactly

It’s not like Dlinemen play every down. You have to have quality in the rotation. Magee’s versatility lets him back up several players.

by KCScuba on Apr 26, 2009 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Sooo...

Do you think dorsey is playing end?

by Lilpecina25 on Apr 26, 2009 8:45 PM CDT reply actions

Hailey said he was

In one of the press conferences.

by ChiefDJ on Apr 26, 2009 8:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Ya, I see but

how is the 4-3 under look. Is that basically a 4-3, four linemen or four backers

by tdbowe on Apr 26, 2009 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

I say

we just throw in random defense schemes and on offense call the play “everyone go long” every play and two point conversions and onside kicks everytime.

by Grand Master A on Apr 26, 2009 8:52 PM CDT reply actions

New signing

Chiefs sign Jovan Belcher, LB from Maine.

by TheDBroShow on Apr 26, 2009 8:53 PM CDT reply actions

I think...

We should of at least entertained the trade of sending dorsey to the falcons for that 1st and 3rd for him because im pretty sure thats wat they would of given us or thats wat i heard and then we send that straight to arizona for boldin because thats what they wanted over there.
I’m sure pioli did but it didn’t fall through. Oh well to late for that now i guess.

by Lilpecina25 on Apr 26, 2009 8:55 PM CDT reply actions

Dorsey

better be starting this season. He has more raw talent than anyone we drafted this time around. Im also a bit suprised we didn’t go o-line to provide more prptection for MC. Clark should have fired Herm after the draft cuz he does have a good eye for talent.LOL

by GHOST OF DT on Apr 26, 2009 8:58 PM CDT reply actions

Now can we get

that undrafted all pro o-lineman?

Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!
