ESPN rumors update
I realize some like to sleep in on Saturday, so I thought I would update what ESPN is saying throughout the day prior to the draft. I will continue to add rumors to this list below. Happy Draft Day!
As of 7AM
Rams - Sanchez?
Jets - After an early morning draft meeting there is a strong chance they WILL move for Sanchez.
Boldin - Staying in Arizona after all?
Patriots - Moving up into Top 10 for an offensive player? Mortenson says possibly Crabtree? No f''n way!
Update as of 10:37
Rams - Most likely won't go Sanchez. Their GM acts like things are evolving by the minute and has no idea as of yet who they will pick. Although it seemed he did lean towards OT.

Bucs (#19)
Supposedly very into Freeman and possibly looking to leapfrog the Jets (#17).
Good idea CS.
looks like the Bucs may not need to

Does my dream qualify as a rumor?
I had a dream that we drafted Jason Smith.
do your dreams come true often?

Lots of rumors of the Pats trying to move into the Top 10
Contrary to the Mort, most are suggesting it’s for a defensive player, possibly Tyson Jackson.
What if....
The Chiefs take Curry and the Patriots take Tyson Jackson? Could this be the back end of the Cassel/Vrabel trade? We know the Chiefs want Jackson and I am sure the Pats would love another dinamic defensive player. I suppose the Chiefs could get their #2 back or maybe another pick plus Jackson in return for Curry. Just a thought that kinda struck me…..
hmm
at first I was thinking you were saying curry straight up for jackson. I guess I don’t see how exactly this would be the back end of the Cassel/Vrabel trade?

With a little wink wink nudge nudge
I seriously believe there is more to that trade, weather on paper or not. A 2nd rounder for a franchised QB AND a pro bowl veteran….. come on. It’s the old boys club, some of the things they do make you scratch your head but in the end everyone gets a good deal!
maybe he did do Pioli a favor. maybe pioli wanted a year to pay belichick back, by seeing if Cassel was a fluke, or see if it was the players around him that made him shine.

I love the Cassel/Vrabel trade
but the Pats could have gotten more and given up less (Vrabel). Maybe its just one friend doing another friend a solid. And that is great, sure helps a GM who is trying to turn around a struggling franchise. I would rather be on Bilechek’s friend list than on his shit list (Mangini) that is for sure.
They basically got a 1st round pick for them.
The bottom of the 1st and top of the second is primed with talent and the reason a lot of teams are wanting to move down (in addition to the money). That pick was worth a lot more than a just a “2nd rounder.”
I don’t disagree with you though. Whether it’s today or sometime down the road, there’s more to the whole thing.
i see how they could work together on the trade your proposing, but I don’t think the cassel trade will have anything to do with it.
I do think that Pioli is much more comfortable working with an organization he’s familiar with.

Pats can have #3 for thier 1st and both their 2nds.
I do not snort the coke I only smoke...sensimilla.
If rams take sanchez there will be no trade for us.
I think we take Jason Smith.
Question
Does anyone else think the SBNation site takes forever to load? I don’t know why but it is slowwwww today.

it seems like going back and forth through different teams is a slow process. I fixed it with a little right click and open in new tab

I think we either trade
or go o-line.
Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!
I really really really hope we trade and pick up some more picks/players

Jackson? #3? Hmmmm.....
I think we take Curry and the Pats trade up. They take Jackson, we make that trade and receive a pick next year?
I think that rumor holds some water…

That would be ok
Just replace ’pick next year" with “the 2nd rounder we already gave them” and I love it.
I thought about that... lol
It’d be great for us.
I’m just worried that this is Vrabel, Cassel, Jackson for Round 2 and Aaron Curry.

There is no way that we would trade straight up.
The only benefit to us is paying less money for Jackson. They would have to throw in another pick or the whole league would be running around with pitchforks.
What do the Pats have to offer? Here are their picks in the first three rounds:
Round 1, Pick 23 (23)
Round 2, Pick 2 (34) (From Chiefs)
Round 2, Pick 15 (47) (From Chargers)
Round 2, Pick 26 (58)
Round 3, Pick 25 (89)
Round 3, Pick 33 (97) (Compensatory selection)
The #97 can’t be traded, but the rest can. I don’t know that they’re going to want to trade the three picks it would cost to get the #3.

The Pats already offered
- and #47 to the Jags for #8 according to Peter King.
by Joel Thorman on Apr 25, 2009 11:28 AM CDT up reply actions
It'd be nice
If Pioli can make his moves and trade this 3 to the pats for their 1st and 2nd and probalby somethin else. Then we can take Connor Barwin with that 1st.
Pats wont move
Pats probably wont move up, profootballweekly reporting they have no desire to move up. That earlier reports are false.
Peter King > ProFootballWeekly
I’m going with PK on this one. He reported they offered their 23 and 47 for Jags 8 but they declined.

Peter King
Thats seems right for a trade. King usually reliable. Isnt he at headquarters today at Arrowhead
nice
where’s our offer?

Ha
They probably don’t need to give up that much to get the guy they’re looking for.

Dallas Morning News' Rick Gosselin has us taking Tyson Jackson
This guy is, by most measures, the most accurate predictor of the first 100 picks. Of course keep in mind that the accuracy bar is very very low.
Here's a real litmus test for Pioli
Sp taking Jackson at #3 is against the grain. If it works out we will all call him a genius, if it doesn’t, it may be the first true indicator as to his ability to scout talent.
just keep matriculating the ball down the field !
Yeah, that's a great point
If he ‘reaches’ for Jackson and misses on him, it’ll get ugly in a hurry. Recall last year the Pats ‘reaching’ for Jerod Mayo … out of nowhere … and he kicked ass b/c he was great in their system. We’ll see….

Or is it just Radar Love :)

Yeah, it's like they both have Belicheck's arrogance but without the same skill set.
Players may like them at first, but they’ll lose respect quickly. McDaniels is well on his way already.

Could they move out of #3
Kansas city star says we offered the #3 pick and a fourth rounder for their 20th and 33rd pick and they they declined it. From rotoworld, said the source was kansas city star
If that was true
Thats a discount of 770 points and the Lions declined it.
That would a discount of a 1st round pick.
Lions will never get better like that.
