Dear Scott,
Millions of Kansas City Chiefs fans will wake up this morning with one important thought on their mind. Those who live with loved ones will smile at their families and say “good morning” and wish each of them a nice day. Those whom live alone will…well just get up and be thankful of another great day to be alive on this earth. But with all the morning duties aside, one item will press most against their mind for the remainder of their day; the 2009 NFL Draft.
In 1960, Lamar Hunt took a first time professional football head coach and developed one of the most storied franchises in NFL history, who became the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963. Stram focused on a winning tradition from the beginning and before a game in 1963 against the Broncos he gave this simple pep talk. "There's no mystery to this game," he said. "Just hit and win. You're the Yankees of the AFL."
Today, you have been given the privilege and opportunity to return this franchise to the history of where it began, with a winning tradition. As fans we believe you have made the right decision on our Head Coach and starting Quarterback and we support you with these persons. You and your staff are going to be able to put all of your talents and resources into place for a once in a lifetime chance at establishing a standard for this team that we have not seen since the Hank Stram era.
From the days of when Warpaint roamed the sidelines and Pride meant more than a paycheck, we as fans have never wavered in our support of what we believe is truly America’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Good luck on your opening draft day and draw upon every ounce of wisdom in your God given talents as you make the choices of our future team. Around Arrowhead we bleed red and gold for life.
While it was painful for us to lose Tony Gonzalez, most of us realize why the trade was needed and those who don’t will soon realize the reward. Tony will be the first of many to come in a long time to embrace the team and the community in their own HOF destinies. What you do today will shape this franchise for the next 10 years and we will be better for it. Good luck, God bless and remember; Chiefs in 09 is our time to shine!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

You always know the perfect time for the letters, Lanier.
Wonderful and rec’d.
I don't have religion. I have Baduizm...and Billie Holiday...and Janet. Actually, just Janet.
About time
you invoked the power of the letter!:)
Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!
you mean 2010...
our time to shine will be 2010, ….11-5 or 10-6 and the west title, went right on out the door Thursday. All the experts here can save this, hate it, talk trash about it, but remember where you heard it first 8-8 in the 09 season.
Bring on the power
of the Lanier letter…

I'm just disappointed he didn't tell us who the Chiefs were going to be drafting
I was kind of hoping I wouldn’t have to wait until 3:15 to find out.
No kidding
Jokes over, Lanier. Spit it out!
