FanPost

the morning after

After sleeping on the Tony G trade over night and digesting all of the implications and racking my brain for all possible scenarios that the 2010 pick might be used for, I have still came to this conclusion: it just doenst make since.  I understand the compensation now, the pick could be used to move up this year or Pioli may covet a pick next year when he is more entrenched than one this year.  And I also understand that Pioli and Haley never have stud pass catching tight ends in their systems.  But this is the one thing that I can not talk my self out of, fanhood aside: how do you figure that it will be better to mentor a young qb without one of the best weapons a qb has ever had?  Would Thigpen have been half or even three fourths as good as he was at the end of last year without Tony?  Once again I am saying this not as a fan of Tony but as a Fan for the Chiefs.  This trade just doesnt make since for the development of Matt Cassel or Tyler Thigpen.
