"Kansas City would be the perfect scenario," Curry said. "I think it would be God's blessing that he put both of us back together again. When we were in high school, we made each other better every day in the weight room and on the practice field."

Have to hand it to Curry
He’s not afraid to sell himself. Couple days ago he was trying to offer Detroit an offer they couldn’t refuse to take him. Now he’s moved on to the Chiefs.

Right
And since the Chiefs are the next likely team to draft him, he should have set his asking price with the Lions at the #3 pick last year.

His agent probably wouldn't go for that
I’m sure his agent has other clients that will get selected behind Curry and he won’t want to set the scale too low.
It made sense for him to offer a “deal” to get picked for a little less, but his agent isn’t going to let him screw over what he will make from the rest of his clients.

#1 pick money
Even If Curry Signed a Jake Long Deal he’s looking at 30mil to sign and he would come in the game as the highest paid LB.
WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?
I think the Chiefs should go OT-Vrigina by the way because u gotta protect Cassel

Monroe has horrible knees
is that what you want to invest 30+ million dollars in?

this is one reason why
even if we don’t trade down and we draft curry i would be happy.
“I looked up to Michael Irvin, Lawrence Taylor and Emmitt Smith. I still look up to Ray Lewis. Because they wore that uniform and were in the NFL, I wanted to be like them. They had no clue. It’s necessary for college and pro athletes to know that we’re role models whether we like it or not.”
he’s a great player, wants to be here, and is a class act. you can’t ask for more from a #3 draft pick.

I'm too down for A.C.
I think he’ll be our Ray Lewis. Our Derrick Brooks… Not the 2nd coming of D.T… But the closet thing we’ll have to it. I could care less if he doesn’t get after the QB as much as people say. But c’mon! The guy like 46 tackles for a loss, 6 interceptions and a grocery bag full of pass breakups. Defense isnt all about sacks. It’s about defense as a whole, and Curry could do it all.
:::side note:::
I took down my Tony Gonzalez figure from my office shelf today…. Sad day.
I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

I agree. Two weeks ago I opened about 10 packs of football cards. I was excited when I got a Tony G. one. Now I just want to throw it away.

Heard somewhere today... or maybe yesterday...
he’s a perfect fit for ILB in a 3-4, and actually wouldn’t be a strong fit for a MLB in a 4-3. Not sure if that applies to this 4-3 Under we’re supposed to be using. Damn my memory, I can’t recall who said it.
I like Curry, and he would learn a ton from Thomas and Vrabel. I just imagine those 3 and DJ in a 3-4 set and I think we’d kill some people with that set.
I can’t wait to see how Saturday goes down.

Saturday can't come soon enough!!!
We need the draft!!! We need to know who K.C. will pick at #3!!! The anxiety is a killer…With how quiet it always is at Arrowhead we won’t know if we trade down until draft day. I don’t mind the trading down. That’s fine with me because there’s so many great players in this draft. The worst thing to do is to pick up an OT at #3 and move Albert when he locked down the LT position and will continue to do so for the next 10-12 years. We can find a RT later in the draft and even a C but for the #3 pick in the first round it has to go defense because our defense couldn’t hold the games that we were close to winning. If our defense could stop someone then maybe I would look at something else but…man, our defense SUCKED!!! They were bad! The worst part of it was the LB position. DJ tried and you could tell he tried but no one was with him to back him up.
We need Aaron Curry to lock down the LB position for our team this year and next year…with Vrabel and Thomas we can get another great LB next year, have Curry as our ILB and future defensive leader, work opposite of DJ as the pass-rush…man, our defense would shine and only get prettier with the right picks in next year’s draft.
I’m just letting some of my draft excitement out…Saturday will be a great day for the Chiefs. GO CHIEFS!!!
There's no hope with dope...

I couldn't agree more.
O-Line is NOT what we need. What we DO need is Defense.
Our O-line line is better than the one Cassel played behind last year (I think Cassel was the most sacked QB in the NFL last year).
If we want to give Cassel ANY hope of winning even just one game this year we have to give him a Defense that will not be fighting the Donkey’s for last place in the NFL. If the Patriots had our Defense last year Cassel would have been LUCKY to win even 2 games.
2009 NFL Draft here we come!

I can see Curry being a good fit.
Peope forget we drafted DJ as a pass rush linebacker. But our LB corps have been so crappy we had to ask him to do everything and it took him away from his specialty out of college which was the rush. Also Jared Allen became our go to guy so we didn’t blitz the LBs hardly at all.

Talk about a "good fit"
… Donnie is gone…. Hey Aaron! #59 is available!

If we do get him, I hope there's substance to this particular comment
A little motivation won’t hurt Tank in the slightest. It’d be great if Curry came in and Tank elevated his game.
by chiefstatnut on Apr 24, 2009 5:58 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Weren't we talking about Tank at Nose Tackle?
Dude’s already a beast. If Curry comes in and helps ‘motivate’ him to put on another 10-15lbs of pure muscle weight, I think we could have a couple of superstars on our hands.
(And, after sending away our other homegrown superstar yesterday, this team sorely needs a new face.)

Sweet
Having an old teammate can better a player. I think Curry is a great pickup but I also believe that we need one more Tackle to “Sure” up our line. But in this Scenario its defense all the way.

Here is what I think.
I have been pretty against drafting Curry and its mainly becasue I want multiple picks from the middle of the round. The middle of the 1st is nearly the same class as the top 5 this year.
I was thinking though. If Pioli could somehow package next years second and Dorsey/LJ/Waters/Thigpen to get us more first day picks, I have NO problem picking up curry.
This guy is classy, he has a great work ethic, and I think he will excel at whatever is asked of him.
