49ers GM McCloughan: Seven teams want to trade top pick
Yeah, I think its time everyone around here starts getting a little more realistic about the chances of the Chiefs moving back in round 1. McCloughan is saying 7 of the 9 teams in front of him have offered to move back, my guess is, GB at #9 hasn't offered, so you're looking at 7 of the top 8 teams looking to move back.
It's time to come to grips with the Chiefs picking at #3.

Geez
Something’s gotta be done about the top end of the draft. And, I don’t think it should come from the NFLPA. The owners sign the checks, not the players.
Regarding your comments, I think the Chiefs are probably the “most likely” to trade considering Sanchez is widely believed to not make it past Seattle and he’s gotta be the most coveted.

The NFLPA will put up a front like they don't want the change
And use it as a negotiating ploy, but they’ll cave quickly on this one.
Its not thier responsibility, I agree, but the only system that would solve the problem is slotting like the NBA.
I think we agree on this one PT, this is something that will get done, b/c its in the NFLPA’s and owners best interest to do so. The Agents aren’t going to go down without kicking and screaming, though.

Agreed
It’s in the NFLPA’s best interest in the long-run as well. Owners gotta spend 60% on the players no matter what. The veterans (a/k/a the NFLPA) would reap the benefits of the rookie pool being shallowed. Both sides should want this – that’s why I don’t understand it.

Shallowed?
What’s wrong with me?

The NFLPA will raise a big stink about it
Just so they can make it look like they are giving something up so they can say the owners need to give something up, but you’re right, its completely in the best interests of the veteran players who make up the vast majority of their group for the rookies to make a reasonable amount of money and leave extra over for the vets.

As far as the Chiefs...
I don’t know if we’re the most likely, I think Jacksonville is the most likely, because thier pick is less expensive, and I think there are a lot of teams willing to jump into thier spot.
I do think Pioli needs to send Seattle a truckload of Okie Joe’s BBQ for letting out that they’re interested in Sanchez, whether that’s accurate or not. I’m not one that thinks its a sure thing at all that they’ll take him at #4, but I hope teams like SF, NYJ and Wash think they will and make us a legit offer.
I just think if you’re a Chiefs fan, and you’re counting on something to happen that hasn’t happened in 5 years (trading of a top 6 pick) then you’re setting yourself up to be disappointed. It’s really unlikely, in fact every year, as the contracts grow, it becomes even less likely. It could happen, and I’m hoping it does, but I highly doubt it.

Agreed
Although what if the Seahawks are putting out their interest in Sanchez so that they’ll get an offer for their pick.
That’s why it’s called Liars month.

I agree with you kcsno56
I do however think you are crushing the dreams of everyone on this site. So shame on you for that but i think we do need to get Tyson at number 3 (my humble opinion) But whatever we do i think we all better be prepared to chose at that number 3 spot. Agreed one hundred percent. Also primetime i do believe thats true seattle is talking out their ass trying to get a trade down. Hasslebeck is good and young enough to wait for next years draft where theres going to be a group of much better QB’s again just my opinion
