"In another draft none of these guys would be top five," Seattle Seahawks scout Charles Fisher said. "They're good players, but I wouldn't consider any of these guys as pure franchise cornerstones. Branden Albert is more athletic than all these guys."

I took it as a compliment
Some mock drafts have 4 LT’s going before #15 (where we drafted Albert) and this guy thinks Albert is better than all four of them.
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

I sure hope
not. The way I read it is that Brandon was taken in the middle of the first round and these guys are going to go in the top 5. A huge drop off from 2008’s class of LT’s compared to this year?

This is exactly why we shouldn't
take a tackle at #3

But
Who else is worth the #3 pick in the draft. People are now saying Curry isn’t worth the No. 3 pick as well.

Good point
Seattle’s prolly right that no one’s THAT good, but SOMETHING is going to happen Saturday. Someone has to go first, and second, and third…

Yes, but...
the conventional wisdom on here lately has turned to, if we pick at #3 because we can’t find a trading partner, we should take a tackle, because those are the best values at the #3 pick. And this article blows that argument out of the water. If we’re gonna be reaching with the number 3 pick, we might as well reach for an area of greater need (Tyson Jackson, Everette Brown, Aaron Curry) and a position of greater value. The article just said that Branden Albert is a better LT than any of these guys, so the argument for taking a tackle is now an argument for selecting a RT #3, which I don’t think anyone in their right mind would support.

Obviously, as is the case with any team picking in the top 5, trading down is the first preference.
Failing that, you take the best damn football player available, regardless of need (unless his position is one of absolute non-need, like if the BPA when the Chargers picked was a QB)
Based on everything I’ve read, it appears that the best damn football player available at #3 will be Curry (unless the Lions are retarts, and don’t draft Stafford)
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
I’ve been waiting for an article like this for months now.
Hmmm. UCrawford is mysteriously absent from the posters. Along with the “select an OT at #3” mafia. Hmmmmmm.
Ok, OT mafia. Your assignment is to read this article 20 times. And since I know that wont penetrate your thick craniums…READ IT ANOTHER 100 times!
Curry at #3 or trade down!

monroe or jason smith either one im down for even curry its all in the hands of pioli
He is the one that has seen there effort and skill one on one . And it is him and the teams decision either way we go im happy they are all out standing players. Out of all three curry scares me the most just because im not really sure how we will use him. As far as the o tackles go I have more confidence that we will go O tackle just because when I look at haleys back round he runs a high powered offense that loves to pass and we need protection to give our new qb a chance to scan the field and make accurate throws this is why I feel we will go Otackle first pick.

Hmmmmm....This is pretty strategic...
Who is the quote from? Oh that would be Seattle Scout Charles Fisher….is this Seattle trying to de-value the tackles so one falls to them….pretty likely…

Doubt it. Their line isn't in that bad of shape.

Walter Jones has about a year...
And I think Shaun Alexander’s (lack of) production and Matt Hasselbeck’s back would disagree with you….

Shaun Alexander?
He hasn’t played in like two years. Foot injury I think it was.

His numbers declined cuz their line sucked and still sucks...
That is why it is their top need with DT…

I guess NE line sucked
Cassel was sacked 12 more times than the three qbs combined for Seattle last year.

Dude...
Are you seriously denying Seattle is a tackle needy team? Well you stand alone…
A franchise left offensive tackle to groom behind Walter Jones is strongly needed.
They needed another OT to be a good backup and a possible starter when needed, who could also replace Walter Jones
It’s time to start looking for replacements, which is why you hear the names Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe — more often, Monroe — mentioned at the Seahawks’ spot in the draft.
The organization desperately misses Steve Hutchinson and desperately needs a quality offensive guard to reinvigorate the running attack….A starting tackle or two are needed depending on whether or not the organization feels Kyle Williams is the long term answer at either tackle.
Franchise left tackle Walter Jones is 35 years old and coming off knee surgery. This is not a good combination of facts for the most important position….They need a left tackle and would be hard pressed to pass on this need at #4 overall.

Seattle might take a tackle
but, not at 4. They are just as likely to trade down as anyone. Keep in mind they have a new coach and he may want a QB.

This guy is right though
Branden Albert is a better athlete. If we take a tackle, I hope it’s Monroe and not Smith, because I have a feeling Smith would hold out if we try to pay him right tackle money.

Sex, I agree with you on Pioli. In Pioli I trust. But as far as RT and the right side is concerned…consider this. First of we got Goff to plug the RG position for a season or two (at least enought time to fix this position with next years draft). I also think we should take a new C with our 3rd pick or some sort of trade up. Mack, Wood, Luigs, Unger; one of these guys. With center fixed you free up Neswanger that can float to RG or RT with his size. You also have Herb Tylor and Barry Richardson which it seems that most people have forgotten about in light of the upcoming draft. My point is that we have a LOT of options right now with the right side of our O-Line. We dont need to go adressing it with a #3 pick.
Wood. I could see Seattle trying to de-value a tackle so one falls to them if WE were the people calling the shots. But, Pioli and crew are WAY too much in the know to be thrown by such petty atempts. We got our own scouts and their opinions…you know?
