good trade for the Bears
first rounder and a pick next year that will probably be in the 20s and your old QB is worth Cutlers talent,

It's great to read their excitement.
It was like reliving when we traded for Cassel.

We didnt have
to give up an arm and a leg to get Matt Cassel, luckily. Considering we do not know who will be the better player yet, we definently got a better deal for our QBOF

Oh definitely
I’m pleased with how Pioli and Haley have played the off season so far. This move makes those two look even better.
Approval ratings coming tomorrow and the next couple of days so keep an eye out.

I think broncos got better out of this deal
As bad as i dont want to say this i think broncos got deal with all these pick thier d is gonna be good in next few year and all they will need is a Avg QB which simms or orton could provide.
the bears on the other hand got a franchise QB but who is he going to throw to, and they lost both of thier tackles,PAce will only be a short term solution but without a line and weapons like he had in denver Cutler might be a avg QB

I agree!
If they are able to draft well, the Broncos will have 4 first round picks in the next two years. They can keep the picks or trade up or down to get players they want.

Why as football geeks do we become instant suckers for draft picks?
You know at some point you actually have to play the game not on paper. Off paper the Broncos just got a big bag of happy wishes and kyle “neckbeard” orton

2 first rounders sounds a lot better than
Eben Britton and (fill in bottom half of the first round player from 2010 here)

After the Jared Allen trade
We had two first rounders, a second, three third rounders, and 6 more picks later.
Then we went 2-14.

Yeah but
Our picks will help out in the future and the Broncos will have this scenario for two years in a row. Again if you read the key phrase was “if they are able to draft well.”

Unless they draft a good QB
They won’t be in the playoffs anytime soon

TOTALLY agree
Teams spend decades and untold draft picks trying to find that franchise QB.
The Broncos had him. A rising star that had that had PROVEN he had the ability to be great and they pissed him away.
I don’t care what draft picks they got for him, unless they hit on another franchise guy right away, they are major losers in this trade. You win Super Bowls with star QBs. Not with star linebackers, running backs or cornerbacks.

I said something similar earlier.
Throw him to the Bears, and see how well he throws to those wideouts. I’m prediciting he won’t be going to the probowl next year.
My crystal ball says Jay Cutler cries himself to sleep every night.

The Bears have Earl Bennet too
He played with Cutler at Vanderbilt and they would obviously play well together right away.
Plus they have a 2nd rounder still.

they could maybe get a reciver in the draft as well.

The bears
wont change their draft strategy because of Cutler. They have a 2nd and 3rd rounder (a compensatory pick, seriously, how did we only get the last pick of the draft as compensation? I know, I know, it has to do with players, but son of a bitch we sucked last season…)
I hope for the Bears sake he helps them become a better team, and I wish them and even him luck.
And Vince, Bennett was on the sidelines all of last season, our own mid-round WR Franklin saw playing time. Doesn’t mean Bennett won’t do anything, but I am guessing his game isn’t quite suited to the NFL game. I could be wrong though.
I don’t see incredible improvement yet though. The Pace signing will certainly help, and I see them going for OT in the 2nd round, and defense thereafter.

ya broncos came up big depends about the qb situation though. but 4 picks in the first round thats pretty nice.

Let's get this straight, from the Cassel deal:
Chiefs get: Matt Cassel, Mike Vrabel, and Jay Cutler to leave Denver.
Chiefs give up: 2nd round pick
That deal gets better every day.

Do you think
Orton can do well with McDaniels? I think he can do all right. Orton won some games in Chicago. He wasn’t horrible and he will have more weapons in Denver. I think McDaniels will coach him up to be a ball control, mistake free passer. Problem is Denver has no defense. I think they are going to spend a majority of their draft picks on the defensive side.
by Nelly on Apr 2, 2009 6:19 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I think he is a huge down grade cutler can take a team to the next level orton can just
give you enough players on the field so you dont get a penalty.

I disagree
The guy went 9-7 with the Bears last year. Who was he throwing to? He had no weapons outside of Matt Forte and the occasional Hester bomb. Am not saying he has Cutler’s potential but the guy is no chump. Last year was not like his rookie year when the defense carried him, he actually played well, an 80 qb rating. If McDaniels is as good with qbs as he is thought to be, he will make Orton better. Plus he has Royal, Marshall, Sheffler, etc. to throw to…

i guess i stand corrected cutler sucks and horton is better
