In Waters' case, though, I believe the fact he is not practicing is a strong message. The Kansas City Star reported earlier this offseason that Waters wanted to be traded because he got off on the wrong foot with Haley. His absence may be a sign of him trying to force the issue.
I could see a scenario where the Chiefs try to trade Waters -- I think Buffalo could be an option -- for a mid-round draft choice. Whatever happens, Saturday's development shows not all is right in Kansas City.

Not much new here.
Our o-line would be really hurting with Waters gone. We wouldn’t be able to replace him with a Pro Bowl-worthy performance this year from whichever draft pick we’d get from trading him. And, the odds are, that pick would never develop into a Pro Bowl player.
And...
Although Waters could be acting like a baby, the conversation with Haley that set him off, could very will prove to be Haley’s “Josh McDaniels” moment.
Or the moment everyone knows
No one man is bigger than a team. We do need him, maybe this is a message to stop all the interviews with the media.
