Waters Value Is At An All Time High!
With the trade that sent Buffalos pro bowl left tackel to Philly for a first round pick and Buffalos lack of sighning any of thier guards to a contract exstension it has left the cupboard for offensive lineman pretty bare in Buffalo!
I think now more than every Buffalo might be very interested in our very own pro bowl guard Brian Waters. There was a rumors early in free agency that Buffalo was willing to give a third and a fifth to land the pro bowl guard. But now with the departure of Jason Peters to Philly the Bills might be desperate to fill their offensive line and what better way to teach thier new rookie left tackle much to the way Waters taught Branden Albert last year the to go all out for Waters.
Maybe the 28 th pick would be a little to rich for Waters services but if maybe the could acquire a defensive end to help improve their pass rush maybe then the 28th overall pick might not seem to high for Waters and maybe Tamba Hali!
Last season the Bills only recorded a measly twenty four sacks with the leading sacker only having the less than impressive number of four. But to their credit their sack master in Aaron Schobel was down with an injury for most of the season. But with a healthy Schobel to push Hali much like Jared Allen did their pass rush could be more than good to make another surprise push at a playoff run and with the addition of T.O. the Bills will have a win now mentality. With that being said the 28th overall pick for a pro bowl guard in Brian Waters and a good defensive end in Hali that would be a good trade for both teams. The could land Andre Smith or Micheal Oher to play left tackle and then with number twenty eight the will fill two more holes guard and a pass rusher that would be a pretty good round for the Bills.
There are two more trades I would like to see come draft day. One being a trade that would send Tony G. to the Alata Falcons for a second round pick. If we could get the second round pick and maybe a fourth or a fifth I say do it. It would help both teams out the Falcons would have an unstoppable offense and Matty Ice would have the reliable target he needs to take his game to the next level. While this would hurt Chiefs Nation with the loss of Tony G. it could go along way towardes rebuilding either our o-line or our pass rush.
The next trade involves the number three pick. With Seattle stating the will take Sanchez if he is there at number four alot of teams will be calling to move up to get him. There is a rumor that Cleveland has contacted the Chief about moving up if we could get number five and their first second rounder number thirty six this would be an awesome trade and we would still be in the top five.
So if these trade were to happen we would have:
#5 ( trade down with Cleveland) = Eugene Monroe
#28 ( From Buffalo for Waters and Hali) = Conor Barwin
#36( Trade down with Cleveland) = Alex Mac
#55 ( From Atlanta for Tony G.) = Duke Robinson
These picks would go along way to helping us win some games. So Pioli give me a call on draft day if you need some help with this!!!!

Cleveland is trying to get rid of Brady Quinn. Why would they want another QB?
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
It's a new regime
Maybe they like Stafford or Sanchez and want to move up to get him. I’ve heard that rumor making the rounds.

true
goodness Mangini is so ungrateful, he has two solid QB’s and he’s trying to get rid of both of them. Consider him fired i two seasons, make to assisting he’ll go

There's a saying...
That if you think you have two QB’s, you really have none.
way too much
too much speculation. We wont get rid of waters unless he reeeally demands a trade. Why would you get rid of Tony G. He hasnt lost any steps and looked great last season. Losing the franchise guy and our best receiver is stupid , unless he really doesnt want to be here. Now both guys havent said much since requesting a trade, so i think they will both stay . the only thing i see happening is a trade for Mark sanchez, other than that I doubt it.

Hi everyone, there have been many blogs over the last couple days that involve Waters in a trade with the Bears. Was just wondering if anyone on your side has heard this or if it all just speculation. I do believe a 1st rounder is a bit steep for a 9 year vet even though he is a pro bowler. I wonder if any of your needs match any players we would have available ie. Mark Anderson DE, Nathan Vasher CB, Roberto Garza could be shipped if we were getting Waters, it would make sense, we would upgrade there and Waters would get his wish of being moved. You all could then fill his spot with a very servicable starter. Im just throwing some ideas out there and was looking to get an opinion. Thanks

I like the way you thought that out
Not sure if it would come close to happening, but its always fun to imagine and who knows? At least it’s not another Cutler post.

As a Bills fan, I love your idea of Waters and Hali for the 28th!
That would be a trade that I could deffinatly go for, and I think both teams would get good value from it. Have your ppl call our ppl ;-)

With the switch to the 3-4 coming
It would make sense for the Chiefs since Hali’s entire career has been as a DE in a 4-3.
Glad to have you visiting CBF.

Isn't it great
That Haley was able to get a 3-day mini-camp in Pre-draft to evaluate more fully what will fit on O-line and D in general. I would think that Pioli wouldn’t trade 2 players for one pick at any time :) Maybe some decisions will be made on players based on this weekends camp and some trades will be made but not 2 for 1.
you don't have to win and you don't need to fight. Supertramp
Ummm Attention!
I would think that Pioli wouldn’t trade 2 players for one pick at any time :)
He just did. :)

We get the 2 for 1:) Not we give 2 for 1.

Waters potentially gone, Gonzales likey gone
Given Buffalos OL needs, Waters for a 3 and a 5 might be reasonable. For a second rounder would be very enticing but unlikely. The #28 for Waters in delusional. Waters wants out and if the price is right I would advocate letting him go.
As for Tony G. He does not want to be a part of rebuilding. He wants his SB shot. If Atlanta is willing to pony up a 2 and a 5 let him go. Yes he is still a tremendous player but age is starting to catch up and he is at the back end of his career. His value right now is high take the picks.
Adding a 2, 3 and a couple of 5 will give Pioli more ammo to try to rebuild with. Waters might be part of the future but TG is the bright spot of the past not the future.

Im not saying #28 for Waters
Im saying Waters and Hali for #28 and no that is not delusional!
by A true chiefs fan on Apr 18, 2009 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions
Sorry but it is.
The value gap between the third round pick and pocket lint in smaller than the gap between the third round pick and the #28 pick. Bundling Waters and Hali together an expecting the #28 is valuing Hali higher than Waters.
I do not think that Hali has not proven that he alone is worth a 3 rounder at this point and Buffalo is not going to make that trade.
by 500miles2Arrowhead on Apr 19, 2009 9:55 AM CDT up reply actions
I disagree, I posted the proposal up just for fun at Buffalo rumblings, and A LOT of ppl are really liking it. So just because you don’t out that great of a value on Hali does not mean that another team wont. And with the amount of players that the Bills are currently putting, I,d say that just about any reasonable trade is possible, and this trade is more than reasonable… now if only someone could tell both our front offices about it ;-)

why do you keep making these ridiculous posts?
trading a first rounder and a pro bowl guard for the 28th pick overall is just dumb
Yeah Agreed
And if you disagree then tell us why.
Isn’t that the whole point of the comments section?
by Joel Thorman on Apr 18, 2009 5:55 PM CDT up reply actions
And I would like to know why you think
if we could get #28 for a 32 year old guard and an above average DE is dumb?
by A true chiefs fan on Apr 18, 2009 5:57 PM CDT up reply actions
I thought some people said
trading Cassel and Vrabel for a second was ludi…lude….ludecru…..oh shit, dumb!
"But what do I know, I'm AP's new assclown and I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
all i know is
when Bills fans are coming on here wanting to make a trade whole heartedly, you got a problem
by squarebender on Apr 18, 2009 5:59 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah I would disagree with that
Tamba has regressed every single year he’s been here and is now going to be playing out of position. Waters is 34 and has what, 2 more years left?
Barwin has been getting a lot of interest from Bill Belichick AND Scott Pioli and those are two of the best in the business.
by Joel Thorman on Apr 18, 2009 6:02 PM CDT up reply actions
Wouldn't that be where Pioli backs off.

Or
Belichick drafts him with the 34th overall pick and gives Pioli a sweetheart deal in a trade.
by Joel Thorman on Apr 18, 2009 6:09 PM CDT up reply actions
arent you spoused to be really smart?
Barwin is a young Mike Vrabel, with probly slighty more talent. we got Vrabel as a “throw in” in a trade so what would be the point of rushing out and spending a 1st rounder on what you already got? i understand that Vrabel is on his last legs but you might as well use him well you have him rather than replace him before the season even starts. Plus i think that Barwin is a reach at 28th overall.
The reason why Bill Bielicheck is looking at Barwin so heavily is because he just got rid of Mike Vrabel and is looking for his replacement.
IMO Tamba for the 28th pick straight up would be the only fair trade and the Bills would never do that so there is no point of evening bringing it up. Take the 3rd and the 5th for Brian Waters (if you can) and move on. you dont trade players for the sake of trading players.
by squarebender on Apr 18, 2009 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions
But Hali for the 28th pick
would never happen since it isn’t a fair trade at all. Hali’s production has dropped and his value is low right now. No one in their right mind would give up a 1st round pick for him straight up. I could see a 3rd and 5th for Waters maybe a 2nd and 5th and that’s a huge maybe.
People that are "spoused" to be smart...
usually spell it “supposed” to LOL!
by loyalchfsfan35 on Apr 18, 2009 7:35 PM CDT up reply actions
Tamba wasn't even drafted as high as the 28th, was he?
How would that be a fair trade? He hasn’t even live up to first round talent yet. I’d be shocked if we were even offered a 2nd rounder. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a talented guy… but not worth a first rounder.
Tamba
was the 20th pick in 06 according to Wikipedia.
yep you're right
i guess i was just thinking that cuz he was projected to go a lot later
oh and forgot to add
I’m with you on how shocking it would be to get a 2nd rounder for him. Hopefully he shows vast improvement this year and lives up to the 1st round billing.
Some would argue that "spouse" and "smart" in the same sentence
is really dumb! :) Don’t tell my wife…
are you 12 years old or something?
i tell you things and you cant seem to get them through your head
by squarebender on Apr 18, 2009 6:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Would that be fair I mean I dont know whats fair me only being 12 years old. Hmm big guy!!

Dude shut up, seriously.
You are just trying to cause trouble. You were doing this in the comments of another fanpost not too long ago too. You can disagree with people without making it personal. People don’t have to agree with your opinions. I’m not trying to be the fanpost police here but you’re really making AP an unpleasant place with comments like that.

another Bills fan
how ’bout #28 and Roscoe Parrish for Waters, Hali and a 5th round pick? Seems fair to me.
At first glance, that does seem fair.
I am not jumping out of my seat for it, but that is probably because it is actually a fair deal for both sides.

I'm in
I liked the idea of trading Hali and Waters for the 28th. Now we are basically deciding if Parrish would be worth a 5th rounder. I say yes.

It's hard for me.....
To think we would give up B.Water’s,because it hurt’s our o-line even more! Who do we have that can fill his shoe’s, and who could we draft in the 3rd rd that could come in and start at LG?
IMO the only way we do that is if we draft Monroe or Smith with our first pick, then move B.Albert’s in to LG! By doing that we would have to draft 3 o-line guy’s with just 7 pick’s,and that would hurt! I’m not saying a 3rd and a 5th is a bad trade for him, but it would make thing’s more difficult! I also feel like T.Hali is not a good fit for this team now,and IMO will not make it as a OLB! So if he get’s throwin’ in a trade it wouldn’t hurt my feeling’s none!
The Don Pioli will not trade T.G and i’m sure that M.Cassel has said he would like to have him to throw too,(after all who wouldn’t)! The only way i see T.G going is if someone offer’s a really high pick for him, which isn’t going to happen!
In this draft i will happy if we get a starting Center and a starting DE/OLB. I also feel like we need to address the RT spot and the MLB spot, and it wouldn’t hurt to look at a RB either!
Agree
With your assessment of needs and approximate order also.
Niswanger could play at LG as he did this some previously.
Predator / Jack Backer is our biggest and hardest to find need.
Do you feel that any players capable of filling that need might come available Post-Draft?
