And with the #48 Pick in the Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos Select...

Connecticut RB Donald Brown |
Keyser Sose with the pick...
As I detailed in Round 1, the Broncos are in desperate need of defense, and in particular a new 3-4 NT. But with the run on NTs we've seen in this draft, and with the legit 3-4 DEs gone, they have to opt for the best player available. Look no further than UConn running back Donald Brown. Though Denver signed Lamont Jordan and Correll Buckhalter in the offseason, serious durability questions linger with both of these players and they are certainly not a long term answer at RB. With Kyle Orton taking over at QB, the Broncos are going to need all the run support they can get.
Donald Brown scored 18 TDs on the ground last year, and led the country in yards with 2,187, carrying the ball 367 times for an average of 6.0 per. Impressive numbers regardless of the opponents that you play against.
Check out some of the notes on this guy:
Natural runner with great vision and instincts...Very patient...Terrific balance...Excellent feet and is elusive in the hole...Quick through the line...Shifty with some wiggle...Moves well laterally...Has the ability to break tackles...Soft hands and a good receiver out of the backfield...Is intelligent with great awareness...Made a lot of big plays...Proved he could be a workhorse...Hard worker with top intangibles...Productive.
Not only is this guy a workhorse, by all accounts he is a humble, team-first guy that would be more than willing to do whatever is asked of him. Donald Brown is not as highly rated as Moreno or Wells, but he is a very solid all-around performer that graded out surprisingly well at the combine – he could end up being a Matt Forte-type steal at this point in the draft.

Good pick, I was wondering when he would go.
I think people have been getting good value for their picks in this mock so far, IMO of course. But Donald Brown has been the highest rated player on my list since the 29th overall pick, so I’d consider this a great talent to get in the mid-2nd round.
Denver RB's
They seem to spit out 1000 yard rusher after 1000 yard rusher and this kid is good. Question is will teams stack the line because Cutler is gone? I have never been a fan of Kyle Orton. Now if Denver trades up to #3 to get Sanchez and we get their 2 1st round picks I can see this kid running ro 1200 and have about 8 TD’s. He’s a really nice player.
Denver does have like 6 RB's on the roster right now, at least 3 of them capable of being starters.

J.J. Arrington, Peyton Hillis, Ryan Torrain, Correll Buckhalter, Lamont Jordan, Selvin Young

I just don't see them going running back as early as round 2 no matter what.
Sorry I should have posted all of that in one post.

So tell me which one of those is THE running back ?
Arrington was signed for special teams. Jordan and Buckhalter are broken. None of the others represent viable long-term solutions. At this point on the board, this is the BPA and addresses a long-term need for a team that is now building from the ground up.
I think Buckhalter can carry the load
But I was really impressed with Petyon Hillis before his injury, he dominated the games he played in.

No friggin way on Brokehalter
The due has already missed three entire seasons b/c of injuries. Really, is that dude the key to your running game? Of course, we’re talking about Josh McDaniels here, so perhaps he does.
It's just too early for the Broncos to draft a RB
They have too many glaring needs on defense they need to adress with this pick. Especially since McDaniels has brought in 3 of his own running backs already.

Trust me, that's what they wanted to do...
But just picking up any NT or ILB at this point in the draft is reaching too far. Just ask Carl & Dick V about Junior Siavii. There are no legitimate players in areas of need on defense that are a value at this point.
I have a feeling
that Donald Brown is going to be a VERY good running back in the NFL…I don’t know exactly what makes me think that…but man, my gut instinct says “next great RB”
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.
Totally agree with you on that one.
I think he’s going to surprise some people.

When I saw him in the Liberty Bowl
I saw a kid that ran hard and bowled over people like LJ used to do, but was easily as fast as Priest when he got in open space – also, Brown’s acceleration threw the safeties off time and time again…he’d come out of a hole in the linebackers’ area, and WHAM! he’s at full speed in 4 or 5 steps, and the safety had already committed to the wrong angle.

Yeah, he looked impressive as hell in that game.
The dude completely carried his offense the whole season, despite the fact that everyone knew that everyone keyed on him every time out.
