If you go out and you’re looking for the girl to wink at you and she hasn’t winked at you before 12 she isn’t going to. You might as well go home.

Thats sad.
I know he’s not the most articulate broadcaster, but he just sounds like football. Him and Pat Summerall (sp?) were great together!

I used to be annoyed by Madden
but after awhile his drawing on the screen and ramblings grew on me. He was one of a kind for sure.
There's always next week,,, and when we run out of weeks, there's always next year!

My fondest memory of him was
that my father hated him as the Raiders coach, but loved him as a broadcaster.

I Hereby Move
That the Madden series of video football games be officially renamed UCrawford Football for all future editions (e.g. UCrawford 10, UCrawford 11, and so forth).
All those who say aye, say aye. :)
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.

No Thanks.
I would rather not have the announcer bitching about every play of the game. :)

Ah, But I Wouldn't Be Doing The Playcalling
I’d leave Cris Collinsworth and Tom Hammond in the booth…they did great in Madden 09 and would continue their excellent work in UCrawford 10.
I might, however, dump Lee Corso from UCrawford NCAA 10…because his commentary really sucks. Seriously, they’ve had the same looped tracks and stale jokes from Corso for three or four years now and his jokes weren’t funny the first time through…especially when he breaks the fourth wall.

You can just add Paul McQuire
to the game. He doesn’t stop bitching until the game is over.

Which, UCrawford 10 or UCrawford NCAA 10? :)
I’d replace Corso with McGuire…McGuire sucks, but he sucks less.

Yes but...
will McGuire put on the mascot’s head of whom he believes will win?

Corso Doesn't Do That Now
He did on the XBox version, but that didn’t carry over to the 360…it’s just Corso’s idiotic commentary and the same jokes he’s been telling for three years. Three years into its run and they still haven’t got all the features on next-gen that they did on old-gen for NCAA Football (the schools still don’t have probation for violations). EA needs to get someone in charge of the NCAA Football product who’ll shake things up there and push improvements, like they did with Madden football after the disastrous Madden 08 (a glitchy, buggy piece of crap) got released.
NCAA Football needs a big toe…and I am that big toe. :)
(By the way, I don’t know if anyone’s seen the game screenshots yet for Madden 10, but the graphics for on-field play look absolutely sweet…I may have to reconsider my pledge to make Madden 09 my last video football purchase).

I never played the NCAA version
I always guessed it was a copy of the NFL version so it never really enticed me.
It’s been a while sicne I bought Madden…I’ll get this years for PS3 since I got tired of the same ole same ole from year to year. Aside from the lineup change there were a couple of back to back years that I didn’t see a large improvement.

I like the NCAA version better
The recruiting side of it makes it more fun to me.

They Stagnated For Awhile
From 05-08 there was little improvement…they had a guy in charge of the franchise, David Ortiz, who didn’t appear to push quality control or improvement. Word was that the only thing he cared about was online play so he basically let dynasty mode rot. EA fired him after Madden 08 set records for being the most-returned game (the glitches and bugs in it rendered it unplayable until EA finally released patches in January…five months after release) and put a new guy in charge…and the progress Madden 09 made from 08, IMO, was the biggest leap forward they made since they completely revamped the game engine in 03 or 04.
NCAA isn’t so much a copy of Madden…it’s got it’s upside (recruiting particularly, and rivalries) but the on-field gameplay is usually equivalent to the previous year’s version of Madden (most of Madden’s innovations don’t show up in NCAA until the following year). Basically, on next-gen systems it’s just a stagnant franchise, mainly because they’ve never really transferred over all the bells and whistles the old-gen versions featured (which seriously enhanced gameplay). But on old-gen systems, NCAA Football was every bit as good as Madden.

2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.

They let people return the game?
I always thought they only allowed “like” for “like” returns in case there was something wrong with the disk. I’m a bit suprised they allowed refunds on played games.

I'd pay $1 to play UCrawford10 on the Atari 2600...course they'd probably throw the game in for free with a Happy Meal a month later ;)

Well that stinks.
I really liked Madden and the boneheaded things he said.
Now there’s just “emmit smiff.” (thanks JW.)
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6.

Ya know...
As much as listening to Madden mumble and bumble through a broadcast can be annoying, I would choose listening to him call a game over any of those knucleheads ESPN has on Monday Night Football.
I would really like to see him still have a segment on the Sunday night studio show.
