Reminiscing About Chiefs Players' Criminal Activity
With a big hat tip to Bob Gretz this morning, we've come across the San Diego Union-Tribune's NFL crime database.
The following are arrests and citations involving NFL players since 2000 that were more serious than speeding tickets. The San Diego Union-Tribune reviewed hundreds of news reports and public records in compiling it. The list cannot be considered comprehensive in part because some incidents may not have been reported and some public records proved to be elusive. Increased media coverage of incidents also probably accounts for more incidents listed in recent years.
Ah yes. Memories of Tamarick Vanover are dancing in my head. Or how about Andre Rison? He was always good for some moronic decision making.
The full list of the Kansas City Chiefs' indiscretions since 2000 is after the jump. Let us know your memories attached to these events.

You Forgot Bam Morris
Any list of Chiefs felons needs to include Morris. :)
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.
The list is since 2000
He wasn’t on the team then right?
by Chris Thorman on Apr 16, 2009 7:39 AM CDT up reply actions
Of course
That doesn’t stop us from remembering how much a moron he was.
And he was associated with one of the worst nicknames of any Chief…Bong Morris.
by Chris Thorman on Apr 16, 2009 7:40 AM CDT up reply actions
Yeah that's the dude
I was going to say wasn’t there some running back that went to jail for selling massive amounts of weed? I couldn’t remember the dudes name.
Wasn't Bam Morris
the guy that got Vanover mixed up in the stolen car ring? I thought Vanover was just the money man in the operation and Morris was the thug.

Yeah
I thought Vanover and Bong Morris were in it together or something.

Yeah that is CRAZY
I remember hearing about that.
Here’s a question…if Goodell is the Commish then, how many games does Riley get?
by Joel Thorman on Apr 16, 2009 8:05 AM CDT up reply actions
4?
Much as I’d like to think he’d get more wouldn’t Goodell have a hard time imposing more than a four game ban since it was technically Riley’s first violation of league policy? Or perhaps I’m not remembering other incidents…
by chiefstatnut on Apr 16, 2009 8:54 AM CDT up reply actions
True
Very true. Well…if he got anything, actually. Not very many first time offenders get anything. Actually I can’t think of any.

No joke...
I don’t think people are reading what he did…
Ramming his car repeatedly into the car containing his INFANT DAUGHTER?!
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6.
Agree with Chris and IISaiNtII
Riley got my vote. It’s one thing to be a woman-beater (LJ), but my guess is that Victor earned a move to an inner circle of hell for endangering a woman and an infant.
by chiefstatnut on Apr 16, 2009 8:58 AM CDT up reply actions
Agreed
Though LJ gets extra points for repeat violations. At least Victory learned his lesson.
Or at least he got out of the media spotlight.

Tynes, Siavii, Wesley
Wasn’t there one more that got in trouble during training camp?
Or an incident that was narrowly avoided because the players rode bikes all over the place.
Bastard skipped out
on our 6th grade lunch with a Chiefs player.

Who was the replacement?
I can’t remember. Joe Valerio?

Oh, primetime, you’re just pulling our chain. We know you didn’t forget big Joe’s visit. My brother still has a jacket he signed that day. I’m pretty sure the signature has worn off, though.

The Andre Rison crimes made me remember
when Left eye from TLC burnt down his mansion. Rison was always involved in crazy shit.
so awesome
i almost forgot. i’ve still got a rison jersey and i occasionally wear it to games only to usually be mocked by everybody who sees it.
Beat the Donkeys!!
Wow
Bold statement there my friend. I would probably mock you as well :)

You Should See The Man's Website
The first line is "Andre Rison is one of professional footballs greatest players ever. "
hilarious.
Beat the Donkeys!!
Lawrence Tynes
Is the only kicker I could say was a badass for punching out a bouncer.
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6.
That's what I'm sayin'!
Why’d we get rid of a kicker that can break a bouncer’s nose? Man, that’s one tough kicker.
You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?
Because he could punch a bouncer in the nose
but he couldn’t punch one through the uprights consistently.
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6.
I know a lot of you are LJ haters
but I have to go with the guy with the most jail time. Apparently the law thinks selling a stolen vehicle is more severe than spitting in a woman’s face. Who knew?
In Order
LJ: Clear winner based on volume and type of offense. You just don’t hit women and this hits them every time he gets a couple of beers in him.
Riley: You just don’t hit women…with a car.
Vanover: His crime is a bit over-rated as he seems to have taken the fall for the real mastermind Joe Horn.
Warfield: Worst of the drunk drivers based on sheer douchieness. I met the guy twice at team functions. Both times he was the only player not in a suit. Wouldn’t have been so bad if he hadn’t been wearing a dew rag. Loudest guy in the room yet had nothing to say. Being a moron isn’t a crime…but it should be.
Allen/Roaf: Dui’s are bad.
Rison: I don’t even consider his acts a crime. How do you loan a guy audio equipment when he’s already famous for not being responsible enough to have insurance on the million dollar house his wife burned down?
Honorable mention:
Bam Morris: Although not a Chief at the time, was arrested on weed charges for a 2nd time in 2000. Was also involved in teh Vanover car theft ring.
Joe Horn: Cut a plea deal in the car theft ring.
Harvey Williams: Pre-2000 and never charged, but this douche assaulted the manager of his failed restaurant, beating the scrawny dude nearly to death and sending him to the hospital. Witnesses said Harvey was angry that the manager had hired male servers.
Lawrence Tynes: Kicker gets in a bar fight in River Falls Wisconsin and is charged with battery. Are you effin kidding me?
And finally, my personal favorite:
Dion Rayford: although he never played for teh Chiefs, the KU defensive lineman crawled thru the drive thru window of a Taco Bell, and demanded his chalupa. He was charged with criminal damage to property.
by KCSatchmo on Apr 16, 2009 9:48 AM CDT reply actions
I forgot About Rayford
I think that was the first in KU football’s history an individual made sportscenter.
Beat the Donkeys!!
Ah, Rayford
From the unlamented Terry Allen years…man, were those dark times at KU.

Kansas City - 24 arrests 23 arrests
Denver -
Oakland — 12 arrests
Interestingly enough, there were no records for the Chargers. Either they are squeaky clean when it comes to run-ins with the law(didn’t they have a player shot by an off-duty police officer?) or the hometown paper is giving them a break.
There Was Once A Book Of Lists I Read
That compared the number of players who had been convicted of abhorrent sex crimes from “America’s Team and The Icon Of All That Is Good” (Dallas Cowboys) versus “The Most Evil Team On The Planet” (Oakland/LA Raiders)
The Cowboys had like 15 players on the list…Oakland had zero. Go figure. :)

I'd have to say that DUI's
trump any and all other crimes. Just look at Donte Stallworth. Sure, no one wants saliva in your face but it’s always better to be able to wipe it off than not. DUI’s are real bad.
