NFL Stadium Tour

So every year, an old college buddy and I fly to a new city and see a game at a new stadium.  Fortunately, my friend is not a fan of any team specifically, so he has been down to visit a stadium that the Chiefs are playing at when we do these trips.  Well, he and I have narrowed our list down to three potential games based on cities we've never been to (we both live in California), stadiums and teams we'd like to see, and interesting games (crossed the late season stuff off the list so that we can see a game that we know will have some meaning).  I would appreciate greatly your votes on which of the three games to check out and any recommendations on sites to check out while in that city.  The three are @Philly, @Washington, and @Jacksonville.   Personally, I'm leaning toward Philly right now, but I am open to any advice especially from anyone who has been to any of these cities themselves.

Not Sure about J-Ville, but it's a toss up between D.C. and Philly!!!

I, myself immediately caught WOOD the minute our schedule was released…Being from Central PA (717 baby!), it’s a once in a lifetime deal that the Chiefs have 3 “less than two hour drive” away games in one season! I’ve been to Lincoln Financial in Philly several times, and the fans alone are a reason to go there! You will talk shit all day! Stadium is beautiful, and weather shouldn’t be that bad at that time! Fed. Ex. Field is considered the nicest/biggest stadium out there (prior to Dallas and Indy’s new stadiums), and if you want to experience another great game atmosphere, you can’t go wrong there either. I would personally say Washington, but that’s only because I want to actually go in there myself (only tailgated there for a Skins/Dallas game) But friends, family, and others all say it is the SHIT. Philly would probably be the best team to watch of the 3 too. I’m attending the Ravens game as well as both of these this year! Gotta take advantage when you get your chance!

I would go D.C.

Jacksonville is Florida so it would be cool too…Philly is out because the fans are all assclowns…

Washington would be a pretty cool stadium…it is enormous…

Given that I live in Southern California

Florida’s weather isn’t a big selling point for me personally. In a way, I rather prefer traveling to the places that know what cold really means.

I feel exactly the opposite

Philly is in, because the fans are ass clowns =)
Talk about a vacation. You and your bud down in Philly dressed in full Chiefs gear swaggering into their stadium, fresh off having just stolen pick from them for sure declining bust that is LJ in a trade.
Drinkin’ beers and eatin’ cheesesteaks in the seats, mouthin off to the Philly fans as the Chiefs put a beat down on the Eagles in their own stadium.
Gettin drunk and picking a fight with the biggest, fattest, ugliest fan in a McNabb jersey you can find. Ending up in a 15 on 2 brawl beat down in the causeway. Taking shots left and right, but giving just as good as you get, and then going to jail for P.I. and disturbing the peace to sleep it off in a drunk tank before you ride the plane home the next day wearing your busted lips like badges of courage!
Now that’s a vacation!

Note: What’s the difference between a good friend and your best friend?
A: A good friend will come bail you out of jail. Your best friend will be sitting right next you in the cell yelling “THAT WAS AWSOME!!”

Man you are awesome

I voted for Washington just so they don’t end up like you just wrote.
NOW if somebody would pop for airfare and tickets.
I will come sit next to you in the CELL with the FU’pd face :)

That is awesome!!!

I got a best friend like that. We went to a college party one time a few years ago before I got married, acting like we’re from Australia or something like that to pick up chicks, I pick up a chick and we’re heading out the door to her place, making out the entire way out when her ex boyfriend or some shite like that comes out of nowhere starts pushing me around and tells me I ain’t leaving there until one of us is bloody on the floor. I can see he’s got his friends backing him up behind him (6 or 7) and I got my one friend off to the side of them with a look in his eye like we’re about to recreate a Warrior’s-like rumble up in that place. I put my head down (the dude was taller than me and out-weighed me by 25-30 lbs.) and I put the top of my head right into his nose, shattering it completely. The dude stumbled back, I dropped kicked him into his friends and dove into the fray. My best friend right behind. Long story short, we’re sitting in the cell with all of them, broken and bloodied. My friend was in pretty bad shape but some reason I wasn’t too bad. A busted lip, broken tooth, a black eye and some bruised ribs. My friend sat there, looked over at me and smiled (with the blood soaked teeth and a missing tooth himself) and he said, “That was awesome! Let’s go to another one next week!” Those were good times…and the BEST of friends.

There's no hope with dope...

I voted D.C. also

while a true Philly Cheesesteak is nothing to sneeze at, I would love to see the National Monument, etc. I have been to Philly, but not D.C., so that is the biggest reason I would choose it.

Philly has some history too

The National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell, etc. Philly and Washington are probably pretty much higher on my list than Jax, and those are the ones I’m most torn with. I guess I just think it’d be more fun watching Donnie Mac and DeSean Jackson than Jason Campbell throwing 3 yard routes and Clinton Portis running for 3 YPC all day.

Yeah, I wasn't taking into account the football aspect of this

I think you are right. I met some really cool folks in Philly. They love to show “their” city off to strangers.

Believe it all not, my family has talked about trying to do this very same thing. I have only been to 3 NFL stadiums. That has got to change! As much as I hate the Cowboys, if we were playing at their new stadium this year, I would be going to watch the Chiefs kick their butt! Maybe next year?

I remember back in the shottenheimer days welcoming Philly

into KC and beating their Ass.
Sports radio all week talking about the matchup of TWO top teams.

Those days are coming back my friend

I like the sound of that, “top team”. Oh yeah, that sounds good.

Also, I went online looking for Big Charlie's Saloon in South Philly

It was the pub in Philly featured on NFL Films as being a shrine to the Chiefs. I figured it might be a good call to find some fellow Red and Gold fans while there, but I can’t find any website for it and I’m just hoping it still exists. I tried checking out the street view on google to see if I could make out the sign (supposed to be on the corner of 11th and McKean in South Philly), and although a sign was there, I couldn’t read it.

You will see me....

In an All-White Derrick Thomas Throwback right below the Box Seats on the Eagles side/North Endzone corner! I, myself, love to talk shit all day every day! So I have a comfort level in that stadium! I was at the Eagles/Skins game the day the fans dumped soda on Clinton Portis’s mom! It was fucking crazy!

I'd say DC, not only for the stadium, but because that city is just straight up historically awesome!

You could spend a freaking week in DC just going to different museums and monuments…. mmmm… history…

I'm in a similar position.

Today at work a colleague and I were talking about the NFL sked. I live in Baltimore, and he pointed something out I didn’t even realize.

I can see the Chiefs THREE times this year.

At Baltimore, at D.C., and at Philly. I am going to try to get to each one.

But no more 1st row on the 45 seats…they actually suck as you can’t see over the team. :)

Also, Jason Dunn is the largest beast I have ever seen in person.

I really don’t think he is human after seeing him that game.

Speaking of Dunn

I was thinking perhaps Lydon Murtha could be converted into a blocking TE.

Sorry, can’t stop thinking about football. Maybe I need help?

You say that as if it were a bad thing.

Heck no!

I am not going to post pictures of a Chiefs toilet bowl rug (do they make those?), but I’m solid. I got the credentials, starting with my Chiefs stocking cap that I got when I was 7.
