I See That As A 2-2 Record Starting Out
Possibly 1-3 depending on how Philly’s secondary recovers after the loss of so many players (but I think we can beat them).
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.
I'm Not That Worried About The Cowboys
I think they’re going to have a down year. They lost Terrell Owens, their defense has got plenty of holes and they’ve traded away too many draft picks in the Roy Williams trade (for a receiver who’s far from a guarantee to replace Owens’ production). I think the Chiefs could actually take them this year.

I Think Wade Phillips Is Getting Himself Canned After This Season
Nothing against the guy personally, and he’s a decent X’s and O’s coach, but he is an absolute incompetent at managing a locker room. When Terrell Owens started bad-mouthing OC Jason Garrett publicly as he did and splitting the locker room into factions, he should have come down on Owens like a million-pound shithammer and backed his OC (and QB). Instead he tiptoed around it and let all that resentment fester and explode over the season, undercutting the guys he needed to help that team win.
Phillips is an excellent defensive coordinator, but he’s one of the weakest head coaches you’ll ever see.

We definitely are doing some AP Tailgate...
We gotta find someone good at it (not me) to plan some stuff…
pretty much just need a banner. or something or like a flag and everyone just meet up
I have to go its my goal right now to get to kc whatever i have to do to get there .
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
I dont know the lot as well as many others...
But I am sure we can get something done by the home opener
Ha...Yes, something like that...
There will be a million other ones…
But we are playing the Raiders and that might be mistaken for a Raider fan…
Good sign though that we play the crappy West late in the year

AFL Anniversary...
…I thought that would pull it out for us…
It should have been Chiefs/Raiders…a rematch of the first AFL Championship…

Money. I hate to say it but, the raiders draw more viewers. They draw a lot of Cali and a good chunk of Nevada and New Mexico. Ive lived in both and I live in Vegas now. Lots Raiders scum here.

Browns got a thursday night and a monday night game

Also I'm guessing this is a typo
but the Lions schedule on NFL.COM shows them playing the Packers on Nov. 26 at 12:30 A.M. Anybody staying up for that one? :)
"The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur." - Vince Lombardi
I agree...
But only because it is just about the best way it could have ended up…If we had to play NFC East, might as well get it over with quickly…
It's possible we could win every game after our bye, aside from Pittsburgh
but at least we play them at home.
My prediction:
If we go 3-4 into the Bye week, we will make the playoffs.
Am I going to get taunted at the game in my Pittsburg gear?
I love the chiefs but they can’t hold the same spot in my heart that the steelers do.
But seriously. Its the first time I’m going to be close enough to catch a steelers game since forever. Is arrowhead and okay to be if your sporting the opposing team?
The other 15 games ill be in my chiefs gear so I don’t care.
OHH btw Jux=The Steel City
I'm all for the partying.
Maybe I will just go incognito. That way if the chiefs win I can be happy and party after the game, and if the steelers win I won’t be mugged on the way home.
"...Said he couldn't go on the American way"
I like it.
We could start out 2-5 going into the bye, and not have even played that poorly.
The end of the season could lead to a lot of late wins and a potential playoff push.
Overall, a tough schedule, though.
Well
Cowboys,Giants, and Steelers at home is a blessing

After opening their season on Monday Night Football in Oakland, the Chargers will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. The schedule includes six playoff teams, two MNF contests, and the Chargers’ first-ever Christmas Day game.
Three weeks ago, the Chargers learned they’d open their season in Oakland. The remainder of their 2009 schedule was released Tuesday, which revealed the home opener against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 (Sept. 20), three of the team’s first five games on national television, contests against three of the four teams who appeared in 2008 conference title games and a Christmas Day game for the first time in team history.
In total, the Chargers play four nationally-televised games, including three on the road. They’ll face six teams who made the playoffs in 2008, including visits from Miami, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
"When the schedule comes out, it always brings out the excitement that the season is getting closer," Head Coach Norv Turner said. "Every NFL schedule is challenging. We face a lot of teams that made the playoffs last year, a lot of teams that finished above .500. We’ve got a great home schedule that our fans will be excited about."
That home slate begins with Baltimore in Week 2, and a week later the Chargers host the defending AFC East Champion Miami Dolphins in Week 3.
"We have an exciting schedule this year and it’s going to be great for the fans," Chargers President Dean Spanos said. "Our first home game is against the Ravens, who I think are an outstanding team. The next week it will be good to get a shot at the Dolphins after what they did to us a year ago. So that will be an exciting game as well."
Week 4 sends San Diego on their first of three trips to the East Coast. The Chargers will play the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers in a rematch from January’s Divisional Playoff game. NBC’s Sunday Night Football will broadcast the game to a national TV audience at 5:20 PDT.
The Chargers’ bye comes in Week 5, followed by three-consecutive AFC West contests. The stretch begins with a home game against Denver on Oct. 19 on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. San Diego travels to Kansas City in Week 7 and returns to Qualcomm Stadium on Nov. 1 against the Raiders.
In Week 9, the Chargers visit the defending NFC East Champion New York Giants for the first time since the infamous "Snowball Game" in 1995. The contest will be part of a CBS national doubleheader with kickoff scheduled for 1:15 PST A week later, the Philadelphia Eagles make their first trip to San Diego since 1998, a game the Chargers won, 13-10.
The last two weeks of November wrap up AFC West play for the Chargers. Turner’s team plays in Denver on Nov. 22 and returns home to face the Chiefs on (Nov. 29).
The Chargers are 9-0 in December under Turner, and they’ll kick off the final month of the season with back-to-back trips to Cleveland (Week 13) and Dallas, where they’ll play in the Cowboys’ new stadium in Week 14. On Dec. 20, the Cincinnati Bengals visit Qualcomm Stadium.
Throughout their history, the Chargers have played on Christmas Eve several times, but 2009 brings the team’s first Christmas Day contest. The Bolts face a shortened week when they will play the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Friday, Dec. 25 in nationally-televised NFL Network game. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 Pacific.

The flex schedule is genius. They should do it way before week 12.
One of the reasons the ratings on MNF dropped low enough for it to be banished to cable was the scheduling was atrocious. The big market teams were always present (does anybody west of, say, Pennsylvania want to see the Jets on tv?) and the teams who were good the year before. The NFL is littered with teams who are good one year and suck the next. For instance, there is no way in hell the AZ Cardinals make the playoffs this year. The games that are usually scheduled for the national games suck once the season starts to take shape.
I hope the Chiefs play well enough to force their way into a game.
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.
for everyone sayin we have a hard schedule we do
but at the same time our division plays the same divisions we do.they just play 2 different other teams than us. so it all evens out.

no factor
i think its a lock for a defense pick first, but maybe a late round RB or slot receiver type but i think that was the direction they were going. IMO. Dont wana make woodman mad again for giving an opinion.
The good thing about playing hard teams first
Is they will have very little game tape of Matt Cassel in the Chiefs offense to prepare.
I agree completely.
The only reason the Cardinals got through the playoffs is because Haley is an excellent OC. I think he scoured through tapes and came up with plays going into the weakness of the defense. I just hope he can make the transition and do the same thing without tape.
Also, The only reason the superbowl was even remotely close was because the steelers fucked up in the 4th quarter and let the Cardinals gain momentum. Larry Fitzgerald only had like 30 yards and 2 catches until the last 5 min of the 4th. Bleh.
I almost hate dissing the cardinals because it worries me about Haley. I trust Pioli so I hope he made the right call.
"...Said he couldn't go on the American way"
Damn
Two away games post bye week sucks. At least there is a three game home stretch though. I always thought home games on the first and last game of the season and home on the week following the bye were the best, with no more than two consecutive away games.
Rough start...
but I do like that it sets them up to make a late run and end the season positively which could be huge for a young core and a whole new management team long run.
Also on the upside, this schedule will allow me to get to the Ravens, Eagles, and Skins games. Silver lining for us DC Chiefs fans is something, I guess.
