Should the Chiefs try to trade for Cutler?

Now that Cutler is officially on the trading block, should the Chiefs give McDaniels what he originally wanted and trade Cassel for Cutler?

My response is fuck and no. Cassel seems like a good kid with a fairly level head on his shoulders, while the last few weeks have exposed Cutler for what he really is - a crybaby prima donna with massive entitlement issues. It's one thing to get pissed when you think your team is trying to trade you, it's completely another to ignore and rebuff them when they're trying to show good faith and mend fences with you.

There's no doubt that Cutler is a proven QB and very likely a much better player than Cassel, but it's clear that his massive ego needs to be continually massaged in order to keep him happy. Thankfully the new Chiefs regime is 100% team first, and I could never see them trading someone like Cassel for someone like Cutler.

If these types of things continue

I can promise a return of the most hated picture to ever grace the site of ArrowheadPride. You guys know the one I am talking about. It has to do with the longest QB name around today. Please don’t make me do it.

The QB with the longest name.....

How long is gonna take for you to figure that one out? =P
Roth-less-burger (no I can’t spell it, so take the phonics version)

Given the only pic I’ve seen around here recently of Roth-less-burger is a great big huge fact chick in some really tiny shorts I’d have to guess that is the pic they are discussing.

It’s just a disgustlingly fat chick wearing teeny tiny shorts with his name written across the ass.
The fact that her ass is big enough for his name to fit across them should be all you need to know.

Heeeeeeell mother fuckin no.

Cutler is like a Bret Favre. Put him on a good team, a really good team and he could win in spite of his interceptions. But on a mediocre team or a bad team, he sinks the ship. A guy like Cassel has a better shot at being a Brady, Manning guy. Hell even a Chad Pennington guy. I’d rather have a smart QB than a gun slinging interception machine.

Even if I thought Cutler was a better QB than Cassel

given his current rise to the top of whiny douchebagitude, I’d still say hell no.

The last thing we need on this team is a QB who thinks he is more important than the other players.

The first thing we need on this team is a LEADER, and I think Cassel is one.

Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS

Alot of people are all for the two for one deal regarding the draft (forfeit Curry and move down in draft for more picks) However alot of people are not in favor trading Cassel for Cutler or potential more picks. Although Cassel has played in the NFL and has done good for ONE season he still has a slight better chance of not being a bust as the top rated qbs in the draft. If we could get Cutler and and another early round draft pick without losing our #3 that will be a better deal than anyone expected. We will have traded in our #34 for a proven franchise quaterback, Vrabel, and a potential first or 2nd rounder.

Stop with cutler

He is not coming and i for one dont want him! Do we really need another head case and selfish player ,we got Cassell and thiggy. Lets go CHIEFS!!!

by James P on Apr 1, 2009 9:46 AM CDT reply actions

agreed sex

i would take that in a heartbeat. yeah cutler is an airhead but imagine the motivation he would have. plus the better, more proven qb PLUS our second back??? come on now. blakmask is right too. all we would have gotten for trading back a few spots in the second. i mean jeez. another thought though what would bill belichik say/think. we would have stolen his players for virtually nothing and sold them for a ransom. cutler, and vrabel for moving down in the second. that would be sweet. NOT going to happen though.

by Hendrix on Apr 1, 2009 9:50 AM CDT reply actions

i still have more to say

cant forget that we would be giving the broncos what they want ie cassel. id rather see the broncos with anderson/quin of stafford. cassel knows mcdaniels offense and that would help them alot. much rahter have someone new learning on the go.

by Hendrix on Apr 1, 2009 9:54 AM CDT up reply actions

+1

The way I see it is Cassel is a good QB who is always trying to get better. I’m hoping he’s the type of guy who can take a not so great team (Chiefs) and make them a contender.

Cutler on the other hand I see as an egotistical QB who thinks he already knows it all. He can take the #2 2008 offense and can’t win one of the four final games to make it to the playoffs. I know everyone says it’s Denver’s defense that was the problem with their game winning ability and I am not going to argue that but what about Cutler turning the ball over and leaving it up to that defense?

I’d take any of our QB’s over a guy who can make so many mistakes and still think his shit don’t stink.

good point

but broncos D was so bad we beat them . hahah cutler is good he is a starter in this league and finding a day one starter in this league is a needle in the haystack we should know we havent had that in like 30 years or so. cutler can play.

Still

At least Cassel’s one season start in the NFL is a winning season. Yeah Cutler can play, but he hasn’t won shit in the NFL. There are plently of teams who do need a day one starter, I don’t feel we are one of them.

we were one of them thats why we had to get cassel.

Name me a starter we drafted that was a day one starter.

by sexassassin on Apr 1, 2009 2:20 PM CDT up reply actions

I thought

That was the point of this was to once again discuss who we would prefer as our QB, Cassel or Cutler. Not to talk about how we have not drafted a day one starter. I’m not stating an argument for that. I am just stating my thoughts on why I prefer Cassel to Cutler.

Since we’re speculating and all…

You do have me thinking though, if we did NOT get Cassel, does anyone think that with the present situation Denver would consider trading Cutler to us? I mean I know that McDaniels and Pioli have worked together but really does anyone think Bowlen would deal with us? Give us the Donkey’s pro bowl QB? I know we love to speculate on things but I just don’t see Bowlen dealing with a division rival. I know it’s been discussed that we shouldn’t give our division rival what the new coach wants but what about the other side of that?

There's always next week,,, and when we run out of weeks, there's always next year!

by Spiderwomn69 on Apr 1, 2009 4:01 PM CDT up reply actions

i doubt he would deal to us but who knows if the price is right

Im saying if he did trade him to us it would be along the lines of boston trading the babe away and they would be cursed for ever or atleast 80 something years hahah.
and we would try to get him no doubt we have thigpen as our starter he might be great to win a couple games but we are looking to win a super bowl not run a mom and pops shop.

by 808NaNz808 on Apr 1, 2009 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Not gonna happen guys

Look even if we ALL wanted Cutler for Cassel, it wouldn’t happen. If there is one deal for sure that will not happen this year it’s this one. There is NO WAY in hell, Haley and Pioli want someone like Cutler on their team. The last thing they want for their new team is someone that is all about ME ME ME. Haley would not put up with that crap, nor would Pioli. That attitude would complete devastate exactly what they are trying to accomplish. It ain’t gonna happen. Cutler is going to Cleveland for Quinn and the 5th over all pick. Plain and simple.

by dj_hindle on Apr 1, 2009 10:31 AM CDT reply actions

If they do trade for Quinn and number 5...

Pioli will have people wanting to get in front of them for Sanchez. Perfect opertunity to trade down.

by Helmets on Apr 1, 2009 10:38 AM CDT up reply actions

I doubt Cutler is comming to KC

however i think you are in denial, if you cant admitt something about the way Cassel is being treated is very odd even for the New “Corleone” regime. I mean even now that they have assigned him a number the presentation on the site is different than everyone elses. If Pioli is really the “Don” then you can bet your bottom dollar that if the price is right, Cassel is expendable as Pauly

Cutler is a great qb

i dont think we will pull the trigger on him if we do ill be shocked.
But i do agree with helmets getting quinn to me would be there best option. He has run the same type of offense in college it makes sense.

NO

It is a new Era at Arrowhead. I do not yet know if it is one of greatness or one of ineptitude. I am excited to see which way it goes, and will support my team until the end, bitter or sweet!

The Broncs

aren’t going to give Culter away.
Using the “draft value chart” the number 1 pick is 3000pts, and the number 16 pick is 1000pts.
I would be shocked if Denver gave away Cutler for LESS than 3500pts.
They might reach that pt total through draft picks, or players, or a combination of the 2 but you can bet Denver expects a guarenteed starting QB + more compensation.

Quinn and

the overall 5th pick by the Browns. It’s the best deal out there and a good fit for Cutler (like I care though).

by dj_hindle on Apr 1, 2009 2:56 PM CDT up reply actions

So you give up a first round pick quarterback and a top 5 pick for one player?

I don’t think so, Quinn and a second and a fourth would sound better to me if i were the Browns

by IamtheGreatest on Apr 1, 2009 3:31 PM CDT reply actions

The Broncs aren't

dealing Cutler for an unproven QB and a 2nd/4th.
Cutler is a 2 first rounders prospect for them. At just over 1 mil is salary they could would sit Cutler on the bench before they traded him for an unproven starter and a 2nd rounder.

No

If:

Cutler < Cassel, answer here is obvious. Reasoning obvious.

Cutler = Cassel, still no. We retain a franchise QB and a division rival is left without someone at the helm.

Cutler > Cassel, still no. (1) The gains in team performance that comes from the chemistry of the Pioli/Cassel union, (2) the long-absent sense of cohesion and team identity that Cassel’s nomination brings (C’mon, seems like it was good enough to draw LJ back into the fold),(3) preventing the growth of a Cutler Carcinoma before it has a chance to metasthesize, (4) Cutler is not a leader and this is a necessary quality in a high-paid QB, (5) I have already asked for a Cassel authentic for Christmas.

I've been rapping for about seveteen years okay? I don't write my stuff anymore I just kick it from my head you know what I'm sayin? I can do that. No disrespect but that's how I am.

Maybe we should try the Substitive principle.
Denver > KC not without Cutler
Denver = KC not without Cutler and Chiefs have Cassel
Denver < KC for years to come
