Since Carl Peterson resigned on December 15th, this has pretty much been the best, most entertaining and uplifting off season I can remember. I've loved it all- the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles.
Pretty much all of the coaches that are going to be hired have been hired (except for our defensive coordinator). The first wave of free agency is over.
We now turn our football hungry eyes to the most intense part of the NFL off season- the six weeks before the NFL Draft!
Yes, I know what you're thinking. How in the heck are we going to find enough to talk about to fill the 8 hours in your work day? No worries, readers. We will. We'll find enough minutia to keep you entertained.
As far as actual, scheduled NFL plans, here is how the time until the draft shapes up:
March 22-25 -- NFL Annual Meeting, Dana Point, California.
April 17 -- Signing period ends for restricted free agents.
April 24 -- Deadline for old club to exercise right of first refusal to restricted free agents.
- April 25-26 -- NFL Draft, New York City.
Yikes. One thing that will be a lot of fun and take up quite a bit of time is the 2nd annual Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft. Last year, we started on March 17th and ended on April 24th and did a two round mock draft.
It was awesome. I think we only had a couple of people not able to make their picks and the write ups were for the most part pretty good. I still can't believe we made it though the full two rounds before the draft. I hadn't seen that kind of community at too many other blogs at that time.
I've got the sign up post in the FanPost section right now, so head over there to grab a team.
As it turns out, this post was supposed to be about something (I'm sure of it) but I got completely side tracked. Primetime is talking about Nick Lowery coming up here soon and we'll have more for you throughout the day.
*On a somewhat unrelated note, did anyone catch Jack Harry ripping Jason Whitlock on TV last night? I didn't but I heard it was downright nasty.
