Not a whole lot going on with the Kansas City Chiefs today. Use this as an open thread to discuss whatever topics you'd like. I'm going to be in and out throughout the day, although I don't suspect we'll see any breaking news today.

Here are a few links to check out today:

Arrowhead Addict

Enter Todd Haley. A few veterans must have been expecting Kindergarten Coach given the team’s recent head coaching hires. What they got was something totally different. In fact, a "tum-ah" might have been more fun given that they had grown accustomed to Pee Wee Herm’s playhouse.

Bob Gretz

In essence, there’s nothing in writing that the city must contribute this money. With $85 million to cut from the budget, there are some tough decisions that must be made. Rather than cut basic city services like police and fire, Funkhouser wants to among other things stop subsidizing the buildings used by the Royals and Chiefs.

LB Mike Vrabel on leaving New England:

"I wouldn’t say that is necessarily true, but the situation is what it is," he said. "To be anything but excited wouldn’t be giving the Chiefs players and the fans the respect they deserve. I am playing for the Chiefs. Whoever I was going to be playing for this year, I would give the same effort."

I Agree Completely With Gretz

He’s dead-on about why Funkhouser’s doing that. And if the situation is as he says (there’s not going to be an additional debt obligation on the city and county for stopping payments) then Funkhouser’s making the right move. If the situation ends up forcing the city to pony up hundreds of millions more to cover the owners’ end, then Funkhouser’s an idiot. Guess we’ll see which it is soon enough.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.

I tend to agree as well

I’ll be the first to admit that im not the most educated on this topic but from what i have read just on here alone i think its a good move….i mean its only $2 million right?? And what exactly does this 2 million do for the chiefs and royals?? Maybe im way off on this but 2 million to two professional sports teams is kinda like peanuts…..

TEAMS are not going anywhere

The only thing that will happen here is the city will restructure the deal so that the money that won’t be paid this year will be spread out over the remaining years of the deal.
No team will leave after doping 100mil of their own money into a stadium.

There are TOO many fanposts on this site now.

I only log in once or twice a day and everytime I do there are so many new bogus posts I cant find the one I just looked at a few hours ago.

come on

Movie reviews now, this is rediculous.

by Grand Master A on Mar 7, 2009 12:54 PM CST up reply actions

Post your own and get the shit rec'd out of it...

or go home. This is blogfrica, the only things that matter are clicks, whistles and the quality of your jokes.

The AP game is long term baby, so far we know UCrawford’s got enough AP goodwill in the bank to post about beanie babies if he likes. Right now you’re a new guy that just misspelled ridiculous.

When respect is given it must be returned.

It’s also the off-season, we like your comment thusfar, but be patient, the PARADE remembers a time when there wasn’t even an AP, there was a thing called the Tomahawk blog (or blougue depending who you talked to). It was lucky to get two posts a week. D-bags come and go, but Chris, the blogfather, Prime, and others, they weather the storm. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Rec

the posts you like and just maybe it will make the top. If not check the archives.

by GHOST OF DT on Mar 7, 2009 3:49 PM CST up reply actions

An Idea

We need another button like the “rec” button which would have the opposite effect and would send the post to a rejected posts category or somthing like that.

by Grand Master A on Mar 7, 2009 12:59 PM CST reply actions

That's actually not a bad idea

Chris, Prime, Is a reject button possible? At least on a trial basis? Could self regulate some of the flame wars.

You have the option

Of not commenting on certain FanPosts. That’s the best way to discourage it.

Thats what happened to all my posts! :)

"But what do I know, I'm AP's new assclown and I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"

That's just because of

the secret boycott we started months ago.

You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?

by Mully on Mar 7, 2009 6:10 PM CST up reply actions

Another option

Which I’ve done is reset the number of FanPosts to display on the front page to 15 or 20. The default setting is 10.

Click on your profile at the top left of the page and then click edit settings and you can change the option there.

Vrabel's a pro.

That’s why he’s here. Notice the contrast between Vrabel’s behavior and say……..Brain Water?

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Duely noted

and Tony G. and LJ. Our guys have so much to learn.

LOL!

“Brain Water”…

by ilamuku on Mar 8, 2009 3:20 AM CST up reply actions

Is this Scott Pioli

Being interviewed at best buy? Here If you find profanity disturbing, i wouldn’t open this link.

All losses in the 2009 season will be Herm and Carls fault.
