I get the impression
unless you’re a QB, Pioli doesn’t want any contact or communication with any of his players. He considers that the coaches role, which is a vast departure from Peterson’s style

There is a reason this is up on the main page, and the audio auto rolls...
This is EXACTLY the message what Pioli wants to get out. The media is scum. Ask a question, and mention a reporter, you better be willing to put on the record your source.
Comical, really. This has been handpicked, likely by Pioli himself…its called controlling the message, these are the ‘new’ Chiefs we are going to learn quick, like it or not.
The transcript
Cassel vs. Thigpen in Camp should improve the play of both.
Next on the need list: linebacker, and both lines

Didn't see anything in the transcript
that made him sound pissy. I know I don’t get the voice intonation through reading, but it sounded pretty cut-and-dry play-for-the-team kind of stuff. Maybe I didn’t see everything.
me either chief 4 life
i like what he had to say he got me pumped up thats called passion for the game. Im ready for the season and i know this guy after that interview is plugged in and knows how to go about making us better.

something that the trascrip dosen't show
accurately is the question about him having a chip on his shoulder. after the question vrabel ask who said that and the reporter asked if it was accurate. vrabel again asked who said that and then he would tell him if it was accurate. that exchange seemed to get a little tense between the two.
Just to quote Mr.Vrabel
" It is what it is ! "

I don't think he's pissed
I just think he doesn’t like having to do an interview.

I don't think he's pissed, I think he's probably just an asshole
And I’m just fine with that. It doesn’t hurt to be a bit of an asshole when you’re a LB.
Hard to tell...
In my line of work, I’ve found that many times a person who sounds like a complete D-bag on the phone can be a totally friendly and amicable guy face-to-face. I’ve been in several situations where I was nervous to go meet with someone I had just talked to on the phone because they sounded very intimidating, then meet them in person and they’re totally cool. Some people just have piss-poor communication skills.
Also, he could just be an asshole. Either way is fine with me, as long as they win.
My money
is on Vrabel being an asshole

but we need the biggest asses on the line :)
"But what do I know, I'm AP's new assclown and I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
I was trolling for Lanier
and you took the bait. Lol :)
Indeed we do. So what’s our biggest ass of need?
Vae Victis!
(P)ass defense!

He didn't sound pissed to me
Sounds like the guy just wants to play football and be a good teammate. You can tell by the interview that there was no buddy , buddy crap with Pioli..just business…I liked what I heard.
blu
Vrabel was right on
in his asking the reporter to identify his source! That’s not being rude or angry. I deal with people every day and one of my pet peeves is when some try to stir up discord with “he said, she said” baloney .
I also appreciated his no nonsense approach to the game. You can’t ask for any more than for a player to constantly bring their best every day, every play, and every game.
I think Pioli was right on when he brought in a leader for the offense with Cassel and a leader for the defense with Vrabel. Everything rises and falls on leadership. This was a great move!

+1
He talks about how he is not a bragger and leads by example. I like that. I’m looking forward to him playing for us.
There's always next week,,, and when we run out of weeks, there's always next year!

Stupid questions get a stupid response
“What position do you think you will play?” Gee I don’t know, maybe nose tackle.
The media was wanting to feel him out as to whether he is a carl peterson type of interview; you know cheery and happy to be talking about himself to reporters. Or a belichik kind of interview who hates the media side of the game and merely wants to bust skulls on sunday.
Clearly Mike is not a carl type of guy. I for one am damn glad about that. Hopefully he will help instill the no nonsense do everything you can to win type of attitude we used to have in kansas city. I for one am glad that we are bringing in guys who went to college to play football, not get a communications degree and commentate on espn.
with our cordinators he might play corner who knows hahaha

I woud be pissed too
These reporters and tin-throats on the radio ask some of the dumbest friggin’ questions. Vrabel is a football player…..period. He isn’t a PR rep or being hired to work in HR. The guy is far from being an asshole. I am sure Vrabel is headed to the gym right now to prepare unlike all these idiots out on cruises spending some of thier easy earned cash thinking about their new Hummer being tricked out or buying some other big piece of materialistic crap. Welcom to KC Mike, I wish everyone was about being prepared and being about team. Sadly I would predict about 20% of our roster has that frame of mind of I am on the roster, i am cashing checks and I am pretty comfortable with my roster spot………….those players had better watch their back.
"Every human is afforded the right to be stupid, unfortunately some abuse the privelage"
nicely put sfc
thats what im talking about i totally agree team first not money.

He doesnt sound pissed...
The time he asked for the source he just sounds like he doesnt like people judging his play and doesnt care much for the know it all media
He might be pissed,
getting long in the tooth, just traded to a team that was 2-14 the previous year, with a brand new coaching staff. I know I would want to finish my career on a team that is a consistent winner. Hopefully that translates into some hard hitting on the field.
Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!
I know I'd be pissed
but the guy is a pro. He’s going to give his all and that’s exactly what the Chiefs need.
Vae Victis!
sounded like a no nonsense
professional to me. Was the reporter or reporters trying to piss him off? I bet he is a better interview when you ask intelligent FOOTBALL questions!
more like annoyed
He just got annoyed when someone asks the same question over and over. Like they did with Herm Edwards and his answer was, “I already coach a college team.”
