The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms with WR C.J. Jones.
Jones (5-11, 195) has spent time on the 53-man roster with Cleveland (2003) and New England (2008), in addition to practice squad stints with Cleveland (2003-04) and New England (2007). He caught 10 passes for 118 yards with a TD for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe in 2006 and went to camp with Seattle that season. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Cleveland in 2003.

Can we please sign someone I've heard of?
Preferably someone with talent that can help our crappy defense?

Are you serious?

It also says the Patriots released him last year after they signed Maurice Price
I really liked Price… I wish we had kept him.

Ditto
I’m sure he’s still out there somewhere

Not a good sign
when you have been around the league for six years and nobody has ever heard of you.

Jesus
It’s almost as if Pioli doesn’t know anyone that hadn’t been on the Patriots before.

Word
And I don’t like it
We had a good foundation here that I was hoping someone would walk in and continue to build off it. Pioli & Haley seem smug and I agree with Whitlock’s assessment that it does more for their ego if they create their own team rather than work with what they got

As Colonel Nathan Jessop would say:
“I have neither the time nor inclination to explain myself to people who rise and sleep under the very protection I provide and then question the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you” and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a gun and sit on that wall. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you’re entitled to!"
j/k, but you have to have a little faith at this point that they have a plan and know what they’re doing.

Did you recite that from memory
or did you have to look it up?

And y'all thought I was joking.
Buddy hire.
Another dang buddy hire.
Seriously. This team is going to be full of people who, at some point in their lives, had interaction with Pioli and Haley and are out of work. Speakin’ of, I hear T.O. is looking for a new job …

Thats how the NFL works
The entire NFL is on the buddy system. Always has been, always will be.

Absolutely not! T.O. is a cancer!

If T.O. wants a Super Bowl and a Hall of Fame plaque ...
He’s going to have one more shot to shape up.
Being a locker room cancer in Philly and San Francisco didn’t work.
He changed his tune (a bit) in Dallas — he was still a drama queen, but not a cancer. He’s mellowing in his old age.
Jerry Rice still had ‘it’ at TO’s age. He had ‘it’ for three seasons after he turned 35. And, T.O.‘s still in better shape than Jerry Rice ever way. So, if T.O.’s going to go somewhere and have three more hyper-productive years and possibly even win a Super Bowl, I’d just as soon it be here.
(And I say that as a guy who’s hated T.O. for all of the locker room cancer and drama he’s brought to other teams. After Dallas, I’m willing to give him a shot — so long as he’s on a very short leash.)

You want TO and LJ
in the same locker room? In the same huddle? I don’t see that going well for the QB or the O coordinator.

Read this...
And the TO to KC thing will be over…..

One thing...
IF T.O. is backed into a corner on what teams to go to then then he might take a position at K.C. or else risk losing future paychecks. He wants money and we, as fans, want wins. I’ll give it to T.O. he may be mouthy but he wants to win just as much as anyone else. If T.O. thinks he can just work on the team and keep out of Haley’s hair then that might just limit what he does in the locker room. I’m not saying we should go for Owens but more of a trust that Haley and Pioli, more so Haley, can keep a tight lid on Owens to just do his job and build up the moral around the team. Put some butts in the seats to watch games and give us some wins. Weather that all happens or not is unknown to me and I’d rather stay away from Owens just to make sure our locker-room doesn’t go negative like Dallas’s did.
There's no hope with dope...

Don't worry
He’s probably training camp fodder. They need a lot of bodies.

Parcells made it work...
He took lots of Cowboys player and staff with him to Miami….but he also signed some guys too….something Pioli is not doing.
Go Chiefs!!

A cup of coffee and a bagel, . . .
. . . league minimum wage?
Suspect this isn’t a hit on the Salary Cap. ;-)

Remember
the old Pats before their ‘dynasty’ formed was made up of a bunch of guys a lot like this. Don’t worry too much.

YESS!! C.J. JONES!
THIS IS AMAZING!!
I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

This reminds me of the last couple years..
Signing no-names during FA. I’ll let it slide. I’m with Chris.
I'm never working for this guy again.

Former Hawkeye
CJ was a very good college receiver and a great guy. Also a top notch special teams player. Probably doesn’t stand a great chance of making the opening day roster, but brings experience and a great work ethic to training camp, if nothing else.

I bet
Bill and Pioli have had these plans for quite a while. They’re just pacing it out as planned.
by GHOST OF DT on Mar 5, 2009 9:13 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
who is this is?
I hope he goes from a no name to a nice no. 2/3 receiver…most likely he will fade off into the distance after training camp, though I agree with the above posts about just needing the bodies, I think especially at this position it can’t hurt, not even a blip on the budget I’m sure.
Boomer Sooner!
and
Go Chiefs!
