The need for Roy Williams
Roy Williams was released from the Dallas Cowboys earlier today. He is a hard hitting safety who plays the role of enforcer. Here are his stats from Yahoo Sports in 2007. (He played in 3 games during 08) 92 tackles, 2 interceptions. He didnt fit the Cowboy's system, so you can make the argument that he regressed. But with our 3 D.C's defense, he will improve.
If we got Williams, we could move Pollard to linebacker. We could take care of two positions with one move. Imagine our defense full of hitters. Depending on the salary, it could be a steal. What do you think? This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Agree...
The one thing I really like about Pollard is that he is not afraid to hit. We have not had those kind of players in awhile, and Williams would bring that. I’m not sure about the Pollard to LB move, not sure if better to trade him

Not a fan of Roy Williams as a matter of fact,
LOL, I realize that we are both Chiefs Fans, but I find it humorous that as I read your post and the ones before that I think the exact opposite of everything you write, maybe its vice versa for you as well.

Roy Williams is Bernard Pollard
I would say that we should sign Roy Williams to play linebacker for us. As a safety, he is not so good against the pass but is a big hitter. At linebacker, he could be an average or better hitter who excels in defending the pass.
But if we are going to do something wacky like that, we probably already would have done that with Bernard Pollard. Is there a real difference between Pollard and Williams? If Pollard played in Dallas and received the TV time that Williams does during Dallas games, then Pollard would be in Pro Bowls just like Williams. Roy Williams is very overrated. Very.

What A Great Idea
He’ll be like the second coming of Bernard Pollard, only older, slower and probably more expensive!!!
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.

Lol...
If you guys are interested in a pretty good run stopper who’s awful in coverage, Roy Williams is your man.

so he could play only on the running plays?
Shoot all we need now is a coach who can figure out when they are gonna run.

Would I be wrong to say that
Jerry Jones is fast becoming the next Al Davis with his crazy trades and signings?
Wasn’t this who he just traded for last year with Detroit?

I can never tell if you're joking Lanier and I think you are
But no, Roy Williams the safety, not Roy the receiver.

You are right though about Jones
he’s quickly becoming Al Davis Jr.
The receiver Roy Williams trade, the TO contract extension, not trading the safety Roy Williams earlier. Maybe if they spent more money wisely they could have retained Canty (or maybe they’re full at DE, I don’t know)

Should......... then bulk up Pollard move him to OLB
by Jclawd on Mar 6, 2009 1:30 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
clearly you didn't see the joke
but if you had to move one of these two to OLB it would be williams. moving from safety to linebacker isn’t as easy as you may think. as a db, your first step is almost always backward as your primary responsiblity is to protect the back half of the field. linebackers first step is always forward. i, for one, don’t think either one is capable of making the switch and i also don’t think williams is any good but if we had him, i wouldn’t want him playing any coverage because he sucks doing it.
