Dwayne Bowe Wants the Chiefs to Draft Crabtree

P1_bowe_medium

via www.chiefstailgate.net

Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe went on record saying the Chiefs should draft Michael Crabtree. Of course, Bowe's preference doesn't mean much to GM Scott Pioli, especially since the two haven't spoken since Pioli's hiring on January 13th.

Asked who the Chiefs should draft with the 3rd overall pick:

"Michael Crabtree. I love competition, he's a good guy and he'll stretch the field and make me better in that no one can double-team me, so I'd go with him."

Thanks for adding to the draft fodder, D-Bowe, but we need a lot of help at a lot of positions. Although I've lobbied for Crabtree before, it's tough to argue against a linebacker or an offensive lineman.

Bowe said he expects his stats to go up with Cassel at the helm and as part of ensuring that, he's planning a visit out to California to "chill with him."

"No, I'm just going to chill, nothing serious. When we meet up in Kansas City later this month, we'll get our timing down then."

Cliche

But you have to think with Haley keeping his ‘foot on the throat’ of Fitz that Bowe will improve leaps and bounds from what he has been. He’s obviously capable

home, of the....CHIEEEEEFS!

He better improve

and I suggest getting some stickum. The Chiefs won’t put up with the dropsies under the new regime

Notice how quickly

Bowe has dropped Thigpen? He gives him a little love at the end, but we know who he thinks is the better QB.

by just a guy on Mar 4, 2009 6:50 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Indeed

Bowe doesn’t care who is throwing him the ball.

by Chris Thorman on Mar 4, 2009 7:13 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

He'll take it from whoever will give it to him

But I’m sure he really wishes he could stick with one guy and actually develop a connection with. He’s starting on his third year and has had three different guys throwing to him. That’s as tough on receivers as it is the QB.

Here we go again...

…another Chief who thinks he has some kind of stake in the personnel direction of the franchise. The "Herm Edwards’ way of doing things is starting to become an infestation on this team.

by jbj8609 on Mar 4, 2009 6:54 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yup

Well, LJ had significant input on the drafting of Tamba Hali.
And D-Bowe gave a little push for Dorsey

I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

I don't think that's fair

he was asked who he wanted them to draft, he answered. I don’t think D-Bowe is making any calls to Pioli. Also, as far as receivers go, his ego and shenanigans are completely acceptable.

Get over yourself “JBJ” someone asked him who he wanted so he gave his opinion. D-Bowe has always carried himself well, so just relax.

Than players that didn’t care. Someone asked him the question, he answered.

I like the fact the guy

wants to compete with another reciver that shows me he wants to win not just collect stats.

Nice to see Bowe wants Crabtree drafted to improve the chances of the team winning.

Just kidding. He just wants to see his own stats padded. I wonder how long Bowe will last in KC now that we have a regime that is more interested in the team’s success than individual stats.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

What? When has Bowe ever presented himself as prima donna stats lovin WR?

Really, he probably deserves more credit than he gets. Yeah, last season was definitely a sophomore slump, but he wasn’t awful by any means. As far as attitude, have you looked around the league? With the exception of maybe Housh, we can’t think of a receiver on Bowe’s level whose consistently been a good “team guy” too. D-Bo not gonna be up for the Nobel anytime soon, but compared to the prima donnas on his level, he’s actually a really impressive guy in our opinion.

That was just… well I disagree with just about everything you said. Seemed like you were telling a story based on a true story only it wasn’t true in the first place and then every one wonders why it was told in the first place, type of thing. Bowe did a great job and most coaches and pundits would not bother to mention that he was 2nd to last in drops last year. He STILL had a decent year and regardless of your misunderstanding of what Bowe was quoted as saying the guy has a great attitude and wants to win. His quote about who to draft, the subject of which was only brought up when the question was posed to him, is coming from his focus on a position that is key to scoring points (and ultimately winning us games) and represents a biased viewpoint as well. Who can blame that answer. I don’t think anybody would complain if we drafted him. No matter who is picked, Chiefs fans will still have 2 or more other positions they would have like to see filled with that first pick. One player at a time..

He may have been

second to last in drops but, his drops always came when the game was on the line.
They were HUGE drops.

Please ...

now Bowe is a selfish punk, maybe we should just drop all the players, and pick up guys from New England! Since there so much better than anyone we have here!Bowe will be a top 10 wr next yr!

Just think about it.

NE offense and AZ deffence, we’ll be unstopable next year. 18-1 baby…wait i mean 19-0

the herm edwards regime didn't care about stats either

just look at the Tony G. touchdown record debacle in the middle of the 2008 season. no NFL team tries to pump up their players’ stats, they look for overall production….

by ManDude on Mar 4, 2009 7:09 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

crabtree is a very good option

if we lose out on curry, and pick up an OL in what’s left of FA. Crabtree is probably the best ready to go Offensive Player.

I like Bowe and he seems to be a real competitor....

Actually, I bet he and Haley will get along great. All of these guys want to win. They just need to have the leadership, and I’m confident that Pioli knows what he’s doing and definately knew what he was doing when he got Haley. We’re going to see some big differences in the way these guys play.

by jcox31mc on Mar 4, 2009 7:33 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

We obviously need some receivers...

Tony Gonzalez our TE who may or may not be here next year and definitely has less than a handful of years left…has lead our team in receiving yards the last 3 years and the past 2 years Bowe has been right behind him. If Bowe can stop dropping the ball I think he can be phenomenal and I believe he wants some help out there because he knows Tony isn’t going to be there forever and he isn’t surrounded by the deepest bunch of WRs…I don’t think Pioli will listen, but I agree that he was just answering a question truthfully and had good reasons

My reasons for voting on some categories

Last year TG and DBowe were the main outlets for Thiggy as he didn’t do well reading his progressions. I think that maybe the only stat that goes down, and thats a maybe, is overall receptions and that is due to a more cerebral QB being able to make better reads. That being said, I think that his overall yards per catch and YAC will improve due to Cassell and the new system

I favorite part was later in the interview...
How does it feel to be a part of an organization that’s taking on the whole Patriots mentality with their former G.M., their former quarterback, their former linebacker and a whole new way of doing things?

Bowe: “That business side, I have no clue what goes on. I haven’t talked to (new G.M.) Scott Pioli yet. I try to stay out of there because I want to get my main job done. That higher office, I see it, I wave and I just keep going.”

Good advice!

by LTownChiefsFan on Mar 4, 2009 10:56 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Bowes Comments should ONLY be about his offseason HANDS WORK

How many balls per day he is catching and how he is truly focused on producing like a #1. Drops at key moments have been depleted his value in my opinion.

Maybe T.O

Terrell Owens has been released by the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Michael Smith. This comes just over a week after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the media that the team would keep him.

i just saw this too...

think pioli may do it again? i mean he did it with moss right?

by xfatdannx on Mar 5, 2009 2:33 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Moss was going to a winning team

TO would be coming to a team that hopes to win more games. TO on a losing team would be disastrous. I’d rather not bring him here and have him on the same offense as LJ (shudder).

haley has worked with TO and it didn’t go over well. i don’t see them agreeing on this one.

D-Bowe wants the chiefs to draft a WR No surprise there!!!

Of course he wants the chiefs to draft a WR. All he can do is make the hard catches and drop all the ones that are right between the numbers. I seriuosly doubt the chiefs are going to take Crabtree. It is a possibility but I just don’t see it happening. Since Bowe, as of right now, is their #1 WR I see them signing a UFA or picking a WR in the 3rd or 4th round.

by chiefsR#1 on Mar 5, 2009 3:52 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Not a WR

We have so many other holes right now; how about some O-Line to protect Cassel?

by KCfan4life on Mar 5, 2009 11:38 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Bowe was just saying whats on his mind

Hell if I was him I would probably say the same thing. I have no problem with that.
