Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Five of those touchdowns came from very-disgruntled RB Larry Johnson (who may not play for the Chiefs this season) and another three came from the recently-usurped QB Tyler Thigpen. Who's going to run the ball in KC? Larry Johnson? Jamaal Charles? Kolby Smith? Some guy they're planning on drafting?

There's much more to talk about on this one, but for now it's enough to say the gap in the running game alone means that Matt Cassel is going to have a much harder time this season than he had last season.

nuh-uh

we’re drafting Beanie Wells with our #3 pick! MVPZZZZ! [/sarcasm]

Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

My response on their site:

Thanks for the post

I am now about 80% dumber than when I woke up this morning.

Matt Cassel is not the savior for the Chiefs that Obama is portrayed to be for the World. He simply is another piece of the puzzle that the Chiefs are trying to complete. Whether Larry Johnson stays or not, doesn’t really matter right now because Scott Pioli will find a running back that will compete for the team and wants to be a Chief.

Kansas City had an off year last year and every team has them every so often. Now that we have new leadership amongst the top three, Hunt, Pioli and Haley, most Chief fans feel we have a chance to compete again for the ultimate prize in this sport. It most likely will not be next year, but we are changing the ways things are done at One Arrowhead Drive and it’s all for the better. Matt Cassel will come in and do a fine job and will grow with this team as it’s offensive leader.

Let’s get together again this time next year and see what you can pull out of your ass hat as it relates to the Kansas City Chiefs.

I'm also not picking up what they're putting down

Lord, Lanier63, you do have a way with words. The Parade should feel threatened.

My simple-minded observation is New England never had a top running game and Arizona had no running game. Yet, Pioli’s and Haley’s quarterbacks managed to do well. Granted, Tony G & D Bowe aren’t exactly Moss & Welker or Fitzgerald & Boldin, but they ain’t too shabby. I like Cassel’s chances to be very successful.

We could never have the prolific posting presence of Lanier63

But we did perform open heart surgery in a crowded opera house with a ballpoint pen.

For the best use of “ass hat” in a reply.

by JComp11 on Mar 4, 2009 12:38 PM CST up reply actions

Why?

First of all, he was speaking only from a Fantasy Football perspective.
Nothing in those 2 paragraphs said anything about Matt Cassel being the Kansas City Savior. He was simply trying to insist that Matt Cassel most likely won’t put up the Fantasy Points he did last year.

He brought up Larry Johnson because as of right now, he is on the team and our #2 rusher will now be on the bench.

Who’s going to run the ball in KC? Larry Johnson? Jamaal Charles? Kolby Smith? Some guy they’re planning on drafting?

It is a very pertinent question in regards to fantasy football. Especially if (for some reason beyond me) you own any of these guys in a keeper league.

I read nothing about the success of Kansas City as a football team in 2009, only questioning the “Fantasy Value” of Matt Cassell.

I completely missed the point of this entire article, FANTASY.

It didn’t ring a bell, I live in the real freaking world. Sorry about that guys and Dustin.

If that's the case I've still got your back like Bobby Bell.

For what it's worth ...

I went the homer route and took LJ, Tony G, and D Bowe in my league last year and wound up first in the league (lost in the playoff semifinals to the leagues’ champ).

Took them the year before, too, and won it all.

by JacinB on Mar 4, 2009 2:23 PM CST up reply actions

I had D Bowe on both my teams

Tony and Dbowe on one, LJ and DBowe on the other. I took 1st in 1 league and 3rd in the other (but outscored everyone in total points by over 200). Lead Scorer in both leagues.
