The Chiefs also had veteran wide receiver Bobby Engram in for a visit today but he left without a contract offer, according to his agent.

Oh Thank God

Yes, I was one of the people last year who said that it was stupid and reckless to add youth simply for the sake of youth (and cheap contracts) instead of looking for talent like the Chiefs did last year, but the smart counterpoint to that is not to sign 36 year old wide receivers with big injury histories who’ve only had one superstar season in their career.

Best of luck to Engram on finding a new home, but I don’t want him here.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.

So we should shy away from the diaper wearers

and stray from the gray haired men? :)

Somewhere In The Middle

That’s where our free agents lie. I don’t think the Chiefs should target WRs over the age of 28 in free agency unless that player is just an out-and-out stud who is producing like a top player all the way up through the season before the Chiefs sign him. None of this “Yeah, he’s 36 but he had a great season two years ago” crap…all that means is that he’s two years away from having been a great player and in the decline phase of his career…which isn’t going to help the Chiefs next year.

Is this a clear indication that we don't plan to sign him?

We could still offer if we have our eye on somebody else.

I Hope So

If they’re going for anyone, I hope they go for Devery Henderson. He’s about the right age and I think he could be a good player here.

I would

like Henderson too

Lance Moore or DJ Hackett

They are probably the best 2 left. They are young and wouldnt cost a whole lot. There is always marvin harrison but i dont think he would sign with us.

I Wouldn't Want Him If He Did

He’s been not good the last two years. Knee problems plus advancing age. If he can’t produce when Peyton Manning’s throwing to him in an offense he knows backwards and forwards, he’s probably not taking a step up with Cassel with a new team.

If we could get Lance Moore...

that would be awesome. He was really active with the Saints receiving corp and we could use him here. And he’s still very young. Another wideout that I was watching was Nate Washington but I think he was signed by the Titans already.

Lance Moore for WR 2009!!

He would be tops on the list, he had some shining moments on a loaded Saints receiving core. He’s young pretty much proven, but not enough so he would require a huge contract. Reggie Williams would be another decent addition. I’ll bet front office was pissed when Jabar Gaffney, we’ve signed everyone else from NE’s rooster.
