Swapping Johnsons
Hey everybody... I've been coming to Arrowhead Pride for quite a while now, but this is my first post, so don't be too critical. Anyways, am I the only one that gets a little turned on when I think of ANYBODY besides Larry Johnson taking handoffs? Here's some food for thought. We release Larry Johnson, and pick up free agent RB Rudi Johnson. Rudi is a bruiser, just like, but probably BETTER than Larry Johnson. He has a much better attitude, as well, and wouldn't have the off-the-field problems Larry enjoys so much, I.E. spitting drinks on women. I just think life in Kansas City would be so much better if we just amputated our Larry Johnson and strapped on a RUDI!
....anyone?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

You have to be joking on the whole Rudi thing
Rudi was a bum when he was a bengal and a hasbeen with the Lions….And Rudi couldnt hold a candle to LJ…
he wasn't a bum w/ the bengals,
he definitely had a couple good years w/ them. I wouldn’t say he’s on the same level as LJ USED to be, but keep in mind LJ hasn’t done squat for the last 2 years to merit the label people still give him of being a really good back.
Check out their stats. Yes, Larry’s are better. But their last 3 full-time seasons (as far as starts and number of carries go) Rudi was still a darn good back.

Not saying I’d go for the swap, but you came on a little strong, and inaccurately, to a first-time post.
I dont know if that was to inaccurate or not.....
Rudi’s been in the league since ‘01 LJ since ’03…both didnt see starting rolls until after thier second seasons…Rudi’s stats: in 6 seasons/63 starts hes carried 1517 times averaging 3.9 ypc with 49 Td and 15 fumbles losing 8…..LJ in 4 seasons/48 starts has carried 1243 times averaging 4.5 ypc with 55 TD and 13 fumbles losing 8….in 2 years less time LJ eclipsed Rudi in every stat

He Was A Very Good Back For Three Years With The Bengals
But he declined in his fourth year, completely fell apart in his fifth year and didn’t show anything when he ended up in Detroit (where he was clearly outperformed by Kevin Smith). A lot of his decline was injuries, I believe, but they appear to have had a cumulative effect and I don’t think he has the ability to play at this level any more. 2.9 and 3.1 yards per carry is pretty horrible for a running back. You could find a lot of practice squad guys who could put up those numbers.
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.
hasn't he had injury problems?
I think that if we ditch LJ – which still chaps my ass to think he got all that guaranteed money and then gets to walk away and likely sign ANOTHER contract w/ a different team…jackass… – anway, i digrees. If we ditch LJ, I’d prefer to see us run some young backs, either who we have now or some rookies right out of college, drafted or un-drafted. Rudi definitely has had some success in the past, I wouldn’t think the move was BAD, but I can’t imagine him being much better than what he have on the team already.
On a second note, I don’t like the fact that most new posters put the disclaimer in there about not getting ripped a new one. Are we really THAT critical around here? If so, that shit needs to be toned down.
We're Not Overly Critical And Don't Need To Change
It’s a sports discussion…people are going to attack and dispute each others’ arguments. If new posters can’t handle that then, with all due respect, they probably shouldn’t post online. Big boy rules…if you state an opinion you should be prepared to explain and defend your opinion.
What we don’t want to do here is attack each other personally, which is where it goes from debate into flaming and trolling. And I don’t think jcw needs to worry about that if that was the concern. I didn’t agree in any way with this post that he wrote, but that’s not to say that he won’t have a really good idea in the next one and I’m willing to hear him out (as should we all).

Honestly,
(and I’m not saying that this is always the case, or that jcw is saying this), I’ve come to believe that the whole “don’t be too hard on me” disclaimer really means “This is probably a dumb thing to say/post, but I don’t want to be criticized for it.”
Again, not saying that this is your intent, jcw.
This Is The Worst Idea Ever
Well, maybe not the worst idea ever, but it’s pretty bad. :)
Rudi Johnson is terrible. He was terrible in Cincinnati in 2007 and he was even more terrible in 2008 in Detroit. He’s old, he’s been overused, he’s got no burst, and he’s injury-prone…his tenure in Detroit showed a running back at the end of his career (who will likely be worse this year). His production is below replacement level and the Chiefs would be just as well off trying to go with a Kolby Smith/Jamaal Charles platoon (and Smith is not good…but he’s better and cheaper than Rudi at this point).

Welcome To Arrowhead Pride By The Way
And don’t take the criticism of your piece too hard…we treat everyone that way. Seriously, we’re glad you came here to chip in and hope you’ll continue.

It's Called "Tough Love" :)
If he comes back, we’ll know we have a keeper. :)

The title of your post
kind of freaked me out for a second. I was trying to figure out what, exactly, “Swapping Johnsons” was, until I got my mind out of the gutter and realized that this is a football blog.
Now that that’s out of the way, bad idea. Replacing one aging bruiser back with another seems like a lateral move at best, but if taking Rudi or keeping Larry were our only two options, I’d definitely choose Larry over Rudi.
if we keep larry
he will show and prove, he sucked not only because of his tude but our line has sucked for tha last couple of years , watch old LJ will reign again.
i know sports
Rudi isn't a bruiser
he dropped a ton of weight last year in hopes of becoming a more “complete” back. Well that turned out to be a total suckfest as Johnson just looked like a N00B out on field last year. Linebackers and Corners had no problem taking him down, and he was never able move quickly because was never his style.
If were in desperation of a bruiser I think Deuce McAllister is our best option
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
Alright, so nobody's with me...
I’m not saying LJ is a bad back, but he is a douche. I don’t like him, and I never really did. Sure, he looked great running behind The Roaf, and Will Shields, and Casey Wieggman, and Brian Waters, but guess what, ANYBODY WOULD HAVE. Rudi isn’t the solution to our problems, by any means, but as far as going to a game, or watching a game, he’d be a lot easier to cheer for. His attitude might not be “much better” but I’d rather have a badger than a skunk… especially a skunk that bitches a lot and dresses like a tool.
It's Not A Matter Of Attitude
It’s a matter of ability…he can’t get the yards any more because he’s washed up. I’ve got nothing against Rudi Johnson personally…seems like a decent enough guy and a hard worker. But I think his time as an effective running back is over.

sorry?
seriously this is an opinion driven site. If you don’t want to handle the opposing opinions don’t post. I don’t mean it as an insult it’s just the tone of that comment was kind of rage filled

When you're right, you're right...
Alright, I’ll agree, LJ is better than Rudi, and probably better than anyone we could draft this year. But his attitude has lost him a lot of support…not to mention the drop-off in his play which inconveniently came shortly after his holdout…not saying that’s his fault, he lost some VERY, VERY good lineman seemingly all at once, That’s one thing LJ and I have in common, we REALLY miss Roaf-dog and The Shield. Anyways, I’m abandoning this post, and moving on to the next one, beginning right now. So have away with it boys.
P.S. Larry Johnson will never be half the man Priest was, on or off the field.
Not being critical
but your probably the only guy in the world who gets turned on thinking about Rudi Johnson running the ball. Even if it is only a little.
And I was dissappointed. I misread Jcw. Thought we had another jew on the board.
