The Second Coming...

Since we are all bored now that dust settling from FA and some time to kill before draft day.....

Have read many of the posts and threw in some of my own, as well as comments, and have to admit for a while I had a mancrush on Curry and miss the days of DT, but now secumbing to the influences of the powers of the Don influence (hey my kid is half Sicilian, so what can I say).  You never know what prospect is going to come forward to be the leader, half come from the high end draft slots, others from animinity.  We made some measurable gains in the FA market, let the big headed names rush by, except the one leader we have needed for how many years now?  We filled some holes from the lessor names, but those who bring team ethic.  We must begin to fully realize what our team is now.  Look who led the Patriots.  The one person who really should be a leader for a team, the QB.  Others have their places, and yes we long for a defensive influence.  But the teams that are always there, are the ones who have leadership at the helm.  We will trade down if someone calls..without a doubt, because we need more picks this year.  We need a strong LB, we need a strong DL influence, we need a faster safety, we need a future Engram, we need a future TG replacement and a future LJ and we need a young talent for the offensive line.

So unless we trade off Tony and LJ and/or Waters.  We will trade down.  But the hope of the Don woudl be to trade LJ and Tony (if we can get a pick to gain a decent young WR talent), Waters will stay unless we can get a pick to gain a decent young OL talent.  The best of all possible worlds would be to trade down and trade LJ and Waters to get back into the 2nd round.  So we would likely have a still decent 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick again and maybe have another 3rd rd pick.  These would get us a LB, OL and WR.  And ya know, just because I'm bored....lets quit playing footsy with this business of yeah we are going to have QB competition (we didn't do the deal for that) and go ahead and trade Thigpen off and get us another draft pick to get a running back.  There are backup QBs still out there on FA market and Pioli knows this.  If we hit right on 50 percent of our picks that we get, then we have filled a good deal of our holes.  We will be competitive and break 8-8 and then be able to use next years draft to become whole.  Two years away man...two years away.
