Trade LJ and TG to the Eagles?
From the Bleacher Report
"Word is, that no matter how much the Chiefs say that Tony Gonzalez doesn’t want to be traded, people close to him have said different.
Larry Johnson has also seemed to have worn out his welcome in KC, and will most likely be put on the trading block, if he’s not there already.
So what does this mean for the Eagles? Plenty.
Most fans would agree that our biggest need is a big back to complement Brian Westbrook, and to upgrade at the tight end position. Johnson and Gonzalez would solve both of those problems, respectively.
Granted, Gonzalez isn’t young anymore and Johnson has a lot of miles on him, but they would be better than anything we could find in the Draft while contributing immediately.
The going rate on a tight end seems to be a second and a fifth. This would be no problem for the Eagles to oblige because of their abundance of draft picks, and is well worth it for one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game.
Johnson is still a great talent, and would be a wonderful second punch to Westbrook because of his combination of size and agility.
Because of how disgruntled he is, the Chiefs may part ways with him for a third-round pick and a veteran player, maybe a guy like Matt Schobel or Reggie Brown.
These are obviously short-term solutions, so the positions would still need to be addressed. Perhaps the Eagles could still grab Pettigrew in the first round, or maybe Cornelius Ingram out of Florida in the fourth (if he‘s still there, which is a possibility), while grabbing a guy like “Beanie” Wells or LeSean McCoy with our other first round pick.
This way we have veteran guys who can fill in immediately for a couple years, while grooming the younger talent.
This would be a huge deal to go down for the Eagles since they have a problem with parting ways with draft picks, but they may do it if they don’t feel their rookies would be able to contribute right away."
What do you think? Would either of these deals be a good idea? If we traded LJ for a third-round pick and a veteran, who would you want?

Question
I’m new to blogging, so let me ask a dumb question. This was supposed to be in Fan Shots and not Fan Posts, wasn’t it? I apologize up front if this was a bad move.

meh
you added a poll so you have a case.

Hahaha!
I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

I think if you have a poll its okay to have as a fanshot
if those deals were their id make both trades for sure.

Yeah, if you want a poll do a FanPost
You may want to post just a snippet of the article next time.

The rule about posting nothing?
I thought this would be a valid discussion. Personally, I’m on the fence about Gonzo. I’d be fine with LJ going to Philly for a 3rd and a veteran. But who would you want?
by Reno_Chief on Mar 26, 2009 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'd be shocked if we could get a 3rd for LJ.

It is the Eagles
they picked up Kevin Kolb like 3 years back (i’m guessing on the actual timeframe) and he’s pretty awful. They’ll make a stupid trade cuz Andy Reid is losing it.

Well,
there could have been a little more meat to what you yourself posted. Giving your take on the scenario, then asking for opinions and poll votes.

Agreed...
our ceiling for TG is probably a 3rd and maybe a 6th or 7th. LJ?? 4th at the best. I say keep them. We are not going to get adequete compensation for TG and I don’t think teams are going to want to deal with LJ plus take the huge cap hit. The only teams I see that could trade for LJ are the Browns and the Saints.

I dont mind either way we go tony would be a sad loss for sure
but if he dont want to be here then off with his head. and as far as lj goes any thing for him would be cool . we just need to do like a package deal and send them both to the eagles and give us some nice value lj is still good and tony is tony a hall of famer.

I just think
that every belly-aching mug on the roster should re-read their contract, shut up and give it everything they have for the Chiefs this year. If they do their part then we’re on our way to building a smoke sucking, fire fucking godshead dynasty of a football team.
GO CHIEFS!

ohh i love when they get quit remember that game a couple years ago
that night game where we blocked their punt on like their ten yard line? I swear i was screaming and i know the chargers could hear me .
When we blocked that punt the entire stadium shut the fuck up. I was going crazy yelling and i was the only chief fan in my entire section.
All of a sudden the ball i guess got blocked and then it touched one of our guys legs and then the chargers jumped on it. the did a review and they got a first down of it which is the worst rule in football.
But any ways the whole place just went crazy next play booom lt takes it for like 80 yards dude im sitting the place is roaring al michaels im sure was like jumping out the booth. people were throwing shit at me it was horrible .fuck i hate their life.

But i have to see my chiefs ya know.

absolutely
I’m smack dab in the middle of San Diego. Tickets are never a problem. I think as the season draws closer I can probably score a group of tickets. We should probably post at some point to start organizing for a tailgate. I know there’s a number of us SoCal diehards out here. Plus if any of the brethren have the gumption to come out here for the weekend it would be sweet.

Count me in
Another Chief fan in San Diego. I’ll join any tailgate for the Chiefs game! I have only missed 2 games since 2000 when I moved out here. I hated that game (I still don’t know how we didn’t get the ball after blocking the punt), but it sure was sweet when Huard hit Bowe on that slant to blow the game open in 2007. I will forever remember when the lousy Charger fans were chanting “Marty, Marty” after that game.

ya them two i hate them two . I really dont consider the chargers an nfl team
I dont know they just seem expansion to me . I think of the jags as more of a football franchise than i do the chargers. I guess because of the fans of the chargers they were bad for so long they never had fans and now they are decent a lot of people came out of the woodworks in cali. But truly dont believe in that franchise as being nfl caliber. hahah

problem with cali
is that most here are fair weather fans if they’re born and raised here. If they’re a transplants, they’re loyal to the team where they’re originally from.

4 wins a year mandatory
I’d take KC taking it to the Donkeys and Haiders twice each per year as mandatory. It’s not that I don’t want to see us beating the Chargers, but I just don’t dislike them nearly as much as I despise those other two teams.

That song is straight out of the 1970's
I can just imagine what the bozos singing that song look like. I am guessing some older guy on roller skates, wearing running shorts and tube socks, singing in front of two girls with farah fawcet hair, tight t-shirts, tiny boobs, no bras, and leggings.

Bleacher Report
If this hasn’t already been said, has zero credibility. Like, none. Granted, this is a commentary piece, but I just want to make sure that this is out there.
These guys, among other things, reported weeks ago that we signed Khalif Barnes. I’d go ahead and cross them off your list of sites to browse.

TG is worth at least a 2nd & 5th
thats what the Saints gave up for Shockey.
LJ, we could increase his value by eating a year of his salary, this is a tactic that works in MLB trades, don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work in the NFL.
by Your_Moms_Boyfriend on Mar 26, 2009 3:10 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
The only way we trade BOTH........ we need the eagle 2,3,4,5,6 round picks
Pioli is mr. 2 for 1….. Well TG is worth at least 3 to 1……… LJ you could pull off 2 for 1
(picks to player)…… Now Reality TG aint going anywhere. but we will take a second and 3 for LJ…….
by Jclawd on Mar 26, 2009 3:14 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
If TG is going to be traded the Eagles are his best spot
The Eagles need a tight end since LJ Smith is gone. Tony still has a few years left in the tank and McNabb will finally get someone who can catch the ball. Philly is only a couple of pieces away from going to the Super Bowl and getting Tony there might just do that.
That is all Scarlett Johansson, baby! --------------------------------------------->

Tony could make a HUGE impact on a team thats that close.
by Chiefsfan1970 on Mar 26, 2009 3:16 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I'd hate to see Tony Go
As I really want him to retire a Chief. That said, if he is going to be traded then the Eagles definitely have the biggest need and Don Pioli is the man to get as much outta that trade as possible. It’s really a win win, TG goes to a winning, almost-at-the-SB team, we get much needed draft picks, a 2nd and 5th?
by Eastcoastransplant on Mar 26, 2009 4:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Eagles
They could definitely use both as their window is closing. And I’d like to see TG at a ring as well. 2nd, 4th would work for me and maybe a conditional 5th next season (depending on LJ’s season).
by FrankPitts on Mar 26, 2009 6:10 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
Pro-Bowler, Future HOF’er I would prefer the 2nd #1 but a 2nd and 4th might just be enough
by Steve_Chiefs on Mar 26, 2009 7:21 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
How about a 1yr conditional
Where we get a 2nd and a 4th for TG and if he wins a SB then it’s part of his contract to come back and finish out his career in KC.. hah :) And if he doesn’t then he stays w/ the Eagles.

Or he signs an agreement to be a Chief at HOF induction ceremony.
That is my biggest concern as per Gonzalez.
