Tony is staying, LJ is up in the air
Here is a piece from an article i was reading on NFL.com
"Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said Tuesday at the NFL Annual Meeting that the team will keep veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez, the longtime face of the franchise who was the subject of trade rumors last year. Running back Larry Johnson and offensive lineman Brian Waters reportedly are another story, according to the Kansas City Star, though Hunt told the paper he wasn’t willing to give up on Johnson just yet."
So of course im Happy to see Mr.Gonzalez stay. I love the guy, hes a class act and a real pro, plus it would just be weird to see him any where else in the league. Tony is the kind of reciving tight end that makes young QB's Happy. Just take a look at his numbers from last season, from the time Thigpen took over his production boomed. I mean the mans a stud and hes going to be Cassel's Security Blanket next season. +1 there.
Now, the bigger topic. Larry Johnson. Im split on LJ, torn if you will. We know he can run the ball, we know he can pound it 300 times in one season. What I dont know is if he can clean his act up. Seriously, stay out of the clubs man. With the aquistion of Cassel, we now have the ability to drop the ArrowSpread offense and that gives Larry a chance to run the ball again. He's the type of Back that needs 20+ touches to put up numbers. Also known as a Power Back. he can relieve pressure off of the pass game and we can actully have a balanced offense. Joy. Im sure we will be Passing the ball a huge amount but if you think about it, the first 8 games or so were going to need to be able to run the ball and have defenses respect it.
So In my own opinion, I say Keep LJ for better or worse teams still have to respect what he's done on the field, and if he can come out running the first half of the season its going to be a lot easier on our passing game.
but.....i did trade LJ for a 1st and 2d round draft pick to Detroit in Madden '09...who knows.

in all seriousness though
Waters is the only one of the three worth getting rid of. If we could get a 3rd and 5th out of Waters we could draft his replacement immediately. LJ is our best option at RB unless Jamaal Charles starts and we can get a spot starter as a bruiser such as Duece McAllister as a RBBC. Then a trade for LJ seems reasonable. A trade at RB in return for draft picks would not result in LJ’s replacement rather bulk along the offensive and defensive lines because of the absolute depth the league holds in running backs, it’s the easiest position to replace, as evidenced by the 2008 NE Patriots and Denver Broncos

You did make point for trading Johnson.

Great Point...TRADE HIM!

(Shonn Greene, Glen Coffee, ***Jamall Lee)
BLAK-out!!!!!
I don't like Coffee
I think he’ll be a Reggie Bushesque player in the NFL but I would love to see Greene in red and gold

Im sure
he’d re-negotiate to get out of KC

If he were going to NY or Miami or Chicago
I’d imagine not so much to go to Buffalo or Arizona, or Tennessee.

I don't think we need to renegotiate
all we need to do is suck it up and take the cap hit. Make a baseball type trade, and get rid of LJ and pay his contract next year, a free year player of LJ’s talent would increase his trade value massively. Easily making him a 2nd or 3rd round value. The draft pick we pick up in those rounds can contribute immediately and below first round price tag.

Yeah, LJ and TO both to buffalo in one off season
Why not just take Buffalo’s coach, GM, OC, RB coach, and receivers coach out behind the shed and shoot them in the head.
It would be much more humane than watching the public cruicfy them after it blows up in their face =P

Love it
We had a our moments last year, I loved Thigpen, it to damn bad he can’t play under center though. The out come of the game hurt so bad too….Our season in a nutshell there.
I remember after that game
The comment Bill Williamson made was “Greatest play of the Chiefs 2008 season… In week 9?”
I laughed and frowned at the same time because it was painfully true

it hurt
i was traveling, listening on the radio, and to hear the game slipping away slowly the whold second half was actually painful! Agreed, to lose to San Diego twice by one point sucks!
Why didnt they ever run that play again?
It seems like if it were timed right, they could catch somebody off guard with it.
