Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr was paid $295,000 in salary last season as a rookie. But Carr wound up starting most of the 16 games for the Chiefs, so he clearly outperformed the contract he signed as a fifth-round draft pick.

The NFL obviously agreed. Carr received an extra $263,058 from the league today as part of its complicated performance-based pay system that is based on salary level and playing time.

Hopefully he won't spend it all on socks!

Reggie White, a 22-year-old defensive lineman who signed a $4 million dollar contract with the Memphis Showboats, has been bombarded with people wanting to sell him things or give him advice on once-in-a-lifetime, sure-fire business deals. Bob Fargarson, White’s attorney, says he warned the player about fast-talking salesmen, but the lesson didn’t sink in at first.

White said he went to a men’s store recently to buy a suit and ended up spending $5,262. Among his purchases were 57 pairs of socks worth $199.50.

Good for him

He was one of the most pleasant suprises of the year

He deserved it

I’m so glad Herm liked him so much. He will be a good corner for us for years to come.

prime is there any way we can get a post about the new rules that are being put in for

recievers and how the game is totally changing to flag football ???

FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.

by sexassassin on Mar 24, 2009 5:13 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah

We can probably get something cookin’ on that. But the biggest change is that you can’t hit a defenseless receiver (there’s a little more to it) or the Anquan Boldin rule.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 24, 2009 5:17 PM CDT up reply actions

A defensless receiver?

So TO has to have a lineman standing in front of him before Pollard pops him in the mouth?

by Chiefs4Life on Mar 24, 2009 5:56 PM CDT up reply actions

that i understand

leading with your head like that i get that but they are making it harder and harder to tackle a guy if you guys do the report and i read i know some of the rules they were changing were just heart breaking .

and i still do not agree with the qb rules its just getting so out of hand

. For example im watching some old footage of the old school guys i swear some of the things that decon jones did he would be six feet under ground by now roger goodell would have to kill that guy burn him at the steak for some of the hits he had.

There's a lot more at stake now

The NFL wasn’t nearly the juggernaut then as it is now. The League can’t afford to have players missing time due to injury.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 24, 2009 5:58 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't know that they lost that many fans

when Brady was hurt. Sure, they want big market teams in the playoffs and doing well every year, but did the amount of people watching New England games last year drop off because Brady was out? I doubt it…..

by JComp11 on Mar 24, 2009 6:15 PM CDT up reply actions

prime and jcomp

both ahve good points the game is huge and losing players to season injury is tough on the market hell it was pretty tough watching the chiefs this year when brody went down although i never changed the channel watching the games every week the crowds were thin. But at the same time football is so huge right now i think they just need to leave the game alone people love big hits people love seeing touchdown dances thats another one here we go. Why is it guys cant td celebrate i mean chad johnson stuff ok props and all that crap i get that when the ass hole chad is walking around with like a extra large HOF trench coat ok i see that fine that guy. But when a guy does alittle dance its like come on that why i just payed 120 bucks for a ticket to see.i want to see tony g throw one threw the uprights flex and get pumped its football for craps sake.

exactly what i was thinking prime

they pay these guys so much now they need to protect them before it was all team not really about the player now its about the player the market the commercial . Im just and old school guy ya im not that old but i respect the game i loved how back in the day a full on bar brawl after the play would break out the refs hat gets thrown on the ground people are pointing fingers it was rivalry it was passion on the field for the team and players . now its like you see a guy like ray lewis who is good and great but even he is watered down . you dont see many guys speaking out about hatred for another team and im talking like hate not media hate like oh those guys are bums. Im talking like if we see you in the parking lot its on some one is walking away with a broken jaw and ill see u in the playoffs. i dont know im just old school. to bad the league is becoming more puss and puss.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 24, 2009 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions

i just love the game i hate all these rules pretty soon the defenders are just going to not know what to do anymore it just makes me upset to see the game change so much.

Rule 326.28A

Defensive players must watch the play develop and allow a reciever to gain possession before touching him with two hands to cause a “tackle”

by woodman212 on Mar 24, 2009 6:33 PM CDT up reply actions

New Chief's chunk of change

Carr isn’t the only one who delivered exceptional value last year. New QB Cassel also earned some performance-based $$$ with the Pats.

dude it was the best in the 80s i remember

my dad would take me to rams and raider games during preseason there were so many fights the beer was flying chicks were flying people were flying f bombs were flying .i was like 8 years old watching men throw hooks because both teams sucked so bad it kept people busy from watching bad football. Are there any fights in the kc stands or not really?

it pisses me off all these rules

thats why i love hearing like the old cranky old timers talk about todays game damn i love hearing decon jones or jack youngblood mike singletary its like those guys played to punish you and win but more because they were not worried about there maybach parked in the team parking lot they were worried about winning the game.

CARR <3

I rarely login to post, had to for this
Carr did a great job last year, lining up against most of the #1 receivers bcuz of his size
He deserves every penny extra, if he continues to develop he will earn much more
Props -DTM
