VIDEO: DE Connor Barwin Highlights

Cincinnati defensive end Connor Barwin will visit with the Kansas City Chiefs in the upcoming weeks. Even though Barwin becoming a Chief is unlikely because of his early second round draft projection, here's a series of clips on him for your enjoyment this Sunday morning. Many scouts are projecting him as a LB/DE type in a 3-4 defense, which is probably why the Chiefs are looking at him.

You have to think they are planning to trade down

Why else would they be looking so closely at players that are late 1st round early 2nd round projections? No way does CB make it to the 3rd round, and no way does he go at #3. If they’re really bringing him in then they are planning contingencies for a trade down scenario in which we acquire late 1st round or early 2nd round picks. This MUST be the plan – it’s just a question of whether or not they can find a trading partner.

I like him

But I only saw maybe 2 plays that stood out to me.

I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

But I wouldnt doubt that Scott Pioili would be looking to get the guy

simply because of his “Vrabel” like versatility.

yah he didn't have alot of big plays

but i loved how he was always making some play on the ball. while not as flashy i really loved that play he made when he backed off the line and tiped the ball away. great awareness.

They are trying to trade down~

By attending Matt Staffords pro day, and making it seem like we are interested in him, means that teams like CHICAGO, would love to trade up and snatch him~ or even the dreaded DONKEYS~ who knows, but someone out there wants STAFFORD and if he is available at the 3rd pick, WE WILL TRADE~

thus making guys like Connor a very real poss.~!!!!!!

You gotta realize...

For those saying that the film doesnt show many big plays, you gotta realize that highlight film was clips taken from a total of 3 games from his first season of playing defense. pretty raw talent, but there is plenty to like from the limited film of him playing the position.

Agreed

I’d just be a bit worried of the “workout warrior” title…

by Joel Thorman on Mar 22, 2009 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions

same here

that’s exactly what i was trying to say but you just said it better. he looked to have great instincts. i didn’t know this was his first season playing d. that just makes me that much more impressed with him.

i dont know...

I dont disagree with you that he could end up just being a workout warrior, I just think that title would be warrented more if there was a lack of production. In his only year playing defense, he led the conference in sacks.

It's possible

No telling what the Chiefs would do to get a “Vrabel clone”.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 22, 2009 2:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Surprising he led the conference in sacks

because what I pulled away from watching the video is that he’s not a great tackler. I know he’s an edge rusher but his arm tackles are not going to be enough to pull down QB’s in the NFL. Roethlisberger probably wouldn’t even notice him
