Patriots coach Bill Belichick said he never received an offer of a first-round pick for Matt Cassel and consummated a trade that sent the quarterback to the Chiefs "because there really wasn't any interest" among other teams.

Analysis of WEEI interview
Gang, check out this article. A great analysis of Belichick’s interview with local Boston sports radio station WEEI. They spend ALOT of time talking about the Cassel trade and whether or not Belichick was setting up his friend (Pioli) for success.

Cassel trade
I think given the choice of sitting on the bench behind Brady or starting on his own team, the trade to KC was the best thing for Matt. It also freed up $16M and change in cap space for NE. Overall, the best thing to do.

Price tag
If he doesn’t cost us most of our cap room, I’m all for it. We could use a strong pass rusher.
