The Kansas City Chiefs terminated the contract of LS Jean-Philippe Darche on Thursday. Darche played in 23 games with the Chiefs from 2007-08.

Kansas City Chiefs - Chiefs Terminate LS Jean-Philippe Darche

That's it. Pioli and Haley have no idea what they're doing.

Pretty obvious what this means

Jared Allen is coming back to play long snapper. No other reason.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 19, 2009 3:52 PM CDT reply actions

agreed

the Vikings obviously didn’t enjoy having him this season. I say we sacrifice our 7th to get him haha

Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If you go out and you’re looking for the girl to wink at you and she hasn’t winked at you before 12 she isn’t going to. You might as well go home.

by craig in calgary on Mar 19, 2009 4:02 PM CDT reply actions

That's bizarre

Maybe he is not recovering from his injury?

by ChiefDJ on Mar 19, 2009 4:05 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah it is bizarre

It’s not bizarre that he was cut just that it was a single cut and it was done now.

by Joel Thorman on Mar 19, 2009 4:25 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm confused

I’m new to this site, and I’m trying to figure out if you are all seriously upset, or if I’m having a hard time detecting the sarcasm in your respective posts. Do you guys seriously think that Darche is that great? And furthermore, that his release is an indication that Pioli and Haley don’t know what they’re doing? I’m confused…

by WoodyardBBQ on Mar 19, 2009 4:06 PM CDT reply actions

I think some are being sarcastic

I think its kind of strange to be cutting the long snapper. I don’t recall he botched any snaps last year and he made several special teams tackles.

I just think its kind of strange he would come up as someone to be cut when there were so many obvious underachievers on the roster last year that are still on there.

by ChiefDJ on Mar 19, 2009 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Slightly sarcastic, and at the same time not

Dustin Colquitt is the 2nd best player on the Chiefs and Darche was his snapper, so he jokingly is one of the most important people on our team. He’s easily replaceable though… just a long snapper.

It is strange that we would cut him of all people though… he’s a good long snapper.

by Vince D on Mar 19, 2009 4:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Definitely sarcastic

I would have no way of knowing how to differentiate one long snapper from another.

by Chris Thorman on Mar 19, 2009 4:16 PM CDT up reply actions

but he could be the next Jared Allen

by Eric Allen on Mar 19, 2009 5:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Or or or listen to this!

We take the NE attitude to 4th downs and go for it every time and never punt again.

Which reminds me, wasn’t there a guy who did some mathematical proof that it was statistically never really a good idea to punt on 4th and short?

Blame my wife!
Waiting until August!

by sir eccles on Mar 19, 2009 5:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Past the 40 yrd line

Once you get to the 40 yard line you are better off going for it over punting. I can’t remember if it is Footballoutsiders.com or TMQ that pushes this, I believe it is TMQ.

by tevans96 on Mar 19, 2009 6:58 PM CDT up reply actions

TMQ

pushes it every week.
And I agree.

You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?

by 808NaNz808 on Mar 19, 2009 4:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed.

Not an obvious cut. But certainly not the end of the world if he needs to be replaced. And this is absolutely not a clear indication that Pioli is off his rocker — especially since he knows the status of Darche’s health better than any of us.

(It’s on Merriam/Southwest Blvd, south of Rosedale, Near Lamar)

Cassel vs. Thigpen in Camp should improve the play of both.
Next on the need list: linebacker, and both lines

by Bleedingredandgold on Mar 19, 2009 4:43 PM CDT up reply actions

It's where Merriam/SW Blvd and Lamar meet.

Woodyard BBQ used to be, well, a woodyard, where all of the various BBQ pits bought their wood. To generate interest in their product, they used to give out free smoked meat. It became so popular, that they decided to start selling the stuff. When you go there for the first time, tell them that you are a first-timer and you will get free desert: smoked chicken wings!

by WoodyardBBQ on Mar 19, 2009 4:39 PM CDT up reply actions

who me?

I don’t work for Woodyard. I just love their BBQ. They don’t drown their meat in sauce like Oklahoma Joe’s, my second favorite.

by WoodyardBBQ on Mar 19, 2009 4:41 PM CDT up reply actions

But beware.

I think they are only open a few evening a week. Damn, I should get a cut of any new business they get.

OTOH, except for rush hour & game day, it generally only takes a half hour or so to drive from one place to another in KC. ;-)

TEXAS?!!!

Sarcasm runs amock

Most fans have the patience to at least wait until training camp has ended before they are ready for suicide. What is all this condemnation of the Chiefs are you guys really fader or donkey fans that have moved in on this forum? If you managed to get through Herm Edwards era without killing yourself you at least can wait until training camp before you go nuts.

Thanks, Pioli, for ruining the fun. Oh well, I’m sure he knows something I don’t. Still with you, Scott!

coming into KC were that he wanted to have the coolest last name. Pioli got rid of Surtain, Huard, and Darche…. Croyle is next
