Since the Scouting Combine, a source confirmed with Scout.com that Smith has met or will meet with four of the teams selecting in the top-five. Smith flew to Detroit to visit with the Lions on March 9th, and had private workouts with the St. Louis Rams on March 12th and the Cleveland Browns on March 17th. He’s also expected to visit the Kansas City Chiefs during the first week of April.

If we're going to take a Tackle

You probably can’t lose with either guy, but I’d rather have Smith because he’s a better run blocker.

I don’t believe in moving Albert from LT just because you’re paying another guy more money. You have no idea that Smith or Monroe would be any better than Albert at LT. So if you are going to draft a Tackle, put him at RT until they prove they are better.

Since Monroe played LT

on the same line where Albert was a guard, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance he might be able to get it done.

What difference does that make?

They aren’t going to move Albert to Guard. Both guys will be a tackle so the fact that they worked well together in the past doesn’t mean beans if they are on opposite sides of the line.

I didn't mean to suggest that Albert be moved to guard

I’m just saying, Monroe was good enough at LT that Albert wasn’t used there.

Not that it matters

Likely neither guy will be available.

Smith goes to Detroit #1 overall

Monroe goes to St. Louis #2 overall.

Chiefs will get

a player we need no matter who is gone. I’d prefer Smith over Monroe because of the knees.

Yep

I’m interesting in these visits but we’re going to get a good player no matter what.
