And with the #9 Pick in the Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers Select...

05miami

                          Florida St. DE/OLB Everette Brown

JasonM with the pick...

The Packers are switching their defense to a 3-4, so they need a pass rushing specialist  on the outside.  The have former DE Aaron Kampman at one OLB spot, but nobody to really make a difference on the other side.  Everette comes in and immediately makes this Packer 3-4 legit, from a pass rushing point of view anyway.  His downside would be against the run, he has a little trouble fighting off blocks.

Pro Comparison: DeMarcus Ware, because both are big, strong, fast, athletes that can make plays rushing the quarterback or covering a tight end.

Previous pick: WR Percy Harvin

***

You have to have a guy like DE/OLB Everette Brown if you're going to a 3-4 defensive formation. I like Brown over Brian Orakpo, who I simply cannot stand at this point. Tomahawk Nation called Brown the best pass rusher that FSU has ever had and their exit interview on him is simply awesome.

Pat Kirwan

on NFL.com thinks so highly of him, that he has the Chiefs taking him at #3, and Curry dropping down to this spot.

If you go out and you’re looking for the girl to wink at you and she hasn’t winked at you before 12 she isn’t going to. You might as well go home.

Horrible idea

There is no way Aaron Curry falls out of the Top 5. There is no way he even gets pass us.

Brown is awesome

and definitely more consistent than Orakpo. I never understood why Orakpo was rated higher to begin with. I would love for Brown to be in a Chiefs Uni.

I really like Brown

and if DE is what they want to take, I think he’s the best pick. I’m not nearly as enamored with Curry as people here seem to be.

Yeah

I just finished reading that same thing on nfl.com, i dont agree that we’d take him over curry but anything is possbie i guess. Everette Brown will be a great nfl player for years to come. Good pick.

When deep space exploration ramps up, it'll be the corporations that name everything, the IBM Stellar Sphere, the Microsoft Galaxy, Planet Starbucks.

I'd be fine with 9-7 or 10-6 and competiting for the divsion title

Good pick

This is not a reach. It improves there defense. Gives them a needed franchise DE to line up next to Aaron Kampman. That would be very scary seeing Kampman and Brown both charging after you. Of course they are going 3-4, so you could add A.J. Hawk into that mix.

Not sure

Brown goes before Orakpo. As far as OLB’s in the 3-4 go, AJ Hawk and Aaron Kampman are pretty set on the outsides. With this pick I would’ve went more along the lines of Tyson Jackson or Rey Maualuga

he is

high bust capacity. But still he has more upside than Brown. Orakpo can put his hand in the dirt, Brown doesn’t have the brute strength to do that

IMO

Orakpo = Gholston

Good Pick

That defense for Green Bay last year was pathetic and Brown will be a big plus for them.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.

man

That picture almost makes me feel sorry for Kyle Wright.

Ahh Kyle Wright...

When he started as a sophomore in the season opener against the Noles a few years ago I told my buddies he would be the #1 overall pick when he was a senior….

Solid pick

Its no mystery that getting to the QB wasn’t the strongest area for the GB D. They’re making the switch to the 3-4 to increase the sacks and Brown can go a long way to help the cause.

I voted yes, but..

Why not Orakpo? It seems like Orakpo is higher on most draft boards. I’m just curious.

you have to believe Staffords next

Yup

At least one of the top 3 QBs will be gone to SF.

After that….NY is the next QB needy team.

Surprised NY didn't throw the bank at Kurt Warner

Maybe they’ll convince Steve McNair to come out of retirement, or throw the ban at Byron Leftwich. If not they’ll have either Sanchez or Freeman on their team in April, depending on who the Lions actually pick

So they sign everyone and then Leftwich at QB

NY Jets, Raiders, Cincinnatti, Denver the list grows of inept or soon to be teams
