And with the #7 Pick in the Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft, the Oakland Raiders Select...

Mizzou WR Jeremy Maclin |
mushin with the pick...
But seriously, the only thing that is consistent about Al Davis is his infatuation with speed , and Maclin has that in aces. There aren't many teams that have more holes than the Raiders, and WR is definitely one of those needs. They have a young QB with a cannon for an arm, and no one to throw the ball to. Zach Morris was a nice surprise, but he doesn’t stretch the field like Al wants to see. Oakland’s biggest concern coming into the offseason was their offensive and defensive lines. They managed to address some of their O-line concerns by signing tackle Khalif Barnes, who can play either RT or LT. They also have a young tackle Mario Henderson who some Raider fans feel is at least serviceable. The top three tackles are already gone though, so Raiders fans will get to see just how serviceable Henderson is.
The Raiders could easily go DE here also. Some great draft stats compiled by WalterFootball.com (http://www.walterfootball.com/nfldraftraiders.php) show that Al has drafted more DE’s in the first 3 rounds than any other position, followed by RB and CB. Orakapo or Michael Johnson could definitely be in play here. But in the end, like a drunken gypsy, Al will ignore good sense, his coaches and reality in an attempt to get his Mr. Burns like claws around the shiniest thing he can see.
This isn’t to say that Maclin won’t make a good NFL player. He will instantly upgrade the Raiders WR corps which right now consists of Higgins, Walker and Lelie. The leading WR on Oakland (Higgins) had 22 receptions for 366 total yards last year. Oakland desperately needs to get their young QB a target, and stop teams from putting 10 in the box to stop their stable of RB’s. Maclin at Missouri showed that he had the speed to loosen up defenses and the moves to make things happen once the ball was in his hands. He is a play maker. Whether it be catching the ball (1260 yds in 08), rushing the ball (293 yds in 08), or on kick returns (1010 yds 1 TD in 08) Maclin is a dynamic player that has homerun capability every time he touches the ball. Most of you watched a lot of Mizzou football over the last two years so you know what I’m talking about. For those who haven’t here’s the highlights:
The biggest knock on Maclin is his size, route running and the fact that he played in the spread offense. He weighed in at the combine at 198lbs, which still puts him 30lbs heavier than Desean Jackson was. And as for route running, this kid is young in football years. He redshirted his freshman year due to an ACL tear. He played just two full seasons of college football before foregoing his senior year to enter the draft. It’s easy to see why he is so rough around the edges. But all those physical skills make up for it. With the exception of size, there isn’t one of his perceived weaknesses that can’t be corrected by coaching. Too bad for him he’ll end up on the Raiders and wash out of football after 3 years.

This is exactly the type of player Al Davis would draft. And this is why the Raiders will never be relevant again.

His consistency blows and his accuracy is McNabb like, but that arm...
Maclin is so damn fast that he doesn’t have to be accurate. It could be the second coming of Culpepper and Moss.
Culpeper: Okay, here’s the play. You run really fast and I’ll throw the ball as far as I can…
Moss: As long as i don’t have to turn, it’s a touchdown
It’s a scary thought. Good thing Russell will only have about .3 seconds to throw the ball before a DE is eating his lunch.
I took "Indifferent"
Because I think whoever they draft will be unsuccessful….cuz it is the Raiders…
Look at all the picks you had last season
Did anyone make an impact Doresy seemed like shit like your record 2-14 we had more that double your wins
The peices of the puzzzle are set time to dominate!
by the way like that last line wash out after 3yrs
good report mashin

3 years!
Poor Jeremy Maclin. What cruel crime did he do to have to put up with Al for that long?

Disagree
with Michael Oher still on the board I think the Raiders will look to find Percy Harvin, Brian Robiskie, or Lois Murphy in the second.
With a team in such desperation for a young offensive line Oakland has no choice but to reach on Oher, who is becoming vastly underrated with the emergence of the Smiths and Monroe. If I remember right, halfway through the 08’ college season he was the best tackle prospect.
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
haha true dat
shoot even a stupid team would do that… but again… this is the Raiders
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
exactly its like people trying to switch to a hybrid
its like you see the savings you see that its a gay looking car and you know you will get no pussy driving it but it saves you money it saves the earth but you have a shagonwagon in the garage that has a blower and hemi that gets mad pussy . what do you think im going to choose the shaaaaaaaagooon waaagooon of course this is how all davis thinks he thinks hahah
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
hahah
hey as long as it has a blower and it goes fast al is all for it.
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
I think the signing of Barnes negates that
I think that’s what Barnes was all about. Al has poured a lot of money in trying to fix the WR position ever since Rice left and Brown got old. If Crabtree is here the pounce on him like a lion on a wounded wildebeast. If not, they go for the next best thing.
But god help us if Pollard doesn't kill the little munchkin when he leads with his shoulder to knock him out
TD
Why trade for him. The Raiders will do something crazy and then cut him halfway through his rookie season
Al needs to wear his tin foil helmet more often.
Not that soon
Give Jeremy Maclin one full year with the Raiders, before Al cuts him, so the Chiefs can pick him up.

lets hope
Pollard starts a crazy chain of events that nets us a legitimate starting RT this season… Oh Pollard always looking out for the franchse
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEACH!!!
But Al Davis probably will go for it because he’s an idiot and the Raiders are in dire straits for wide receivers. He should go for Orakpo instead, though.
By the way, I accidentally clicked “no” when I meant to click “yes”. I do think the Raiders will seriously consider Maclin…but I think he’ll also be a bust because Jamarcus Russell sucks as a QB.
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
I love Al!
I hope we find the Fountain of Youth soon. Once we do, push Al Davis in. I enjoy watching the Raiders make fools of themselves.

Agree on Jeremy Maclin
Good thing that Jamarcus Russel sucks. He’s worse our top 3 QBs on roster. Even Brodie Croyle, when he stays healthy. He may be better than Ingle Martin. Idk. Never seen him play.
Maybe not Croyle
Cassel and Thigpen are at least better than him. Maybe not Croyle.

I feel sorry for...
the team that drafts Maclin in the first ROUND let alone the first ten picks. I am, obviously, a big Mizzou fan, but there are 3 problems with the dude. One, if Chase Daniel is a “system quarterback” then isn’t it possible that the receivers he’s throwing to are products of the same system making him a “system receiver”? Second, he’s fast in college. He’s not so fast in the NFL (not saying that he’s not fast, mind you). You notice that, in those highlights, only 2 were caught in coverage? He’s not going to get that much separation in the NFL. Third, I can’t believe no one ever talks about his injuries. The guy gets hurt on almost every play it seems like. Not long term injuries, but sit out a play here, sit out a play there injuries. Again, in the NFL he’s going to take much harder hits than he did in college much more often. Especially if he returns the ball at all. Maclin’s body will not hold up. Truth be told, Maclin just doesn’t translate at the next level. Lastly, my buddy, who is a Raiders fan, is really hoping for BJ Raji.
Fck da Chiefs!!!
How about you guys win something, just once, before you start talking trash about the Raiders. we have three rings, you have zero. and last time I checked we had five wins last season and you had two. the raiders have the highest overall winning percentage in NFL history and your team is just a blip on the POS team radar. we have a crazy old man running our team and we are still better than you, so Fck off.
someone is angry and we have a ring thank you and we wont go into how you got rings coughcheatingcough sorry i have a bad cold
and
i forgot to mention you have
7th overall pick Huff 32 in offense we were 15th lol come on i need a challenge defense
1st overall pick russell 25th we had a horrible everything 31 kc 13 oakland 22nd
4th overall pick mcfadden 29 ranked offense chiefs 24th lol oakland 27th chiefs 31 in d
7th overall pick a guy who looks flashy in a bar scene probally be 32 and we keep moving up probally be the same for the raiders chiefs will move up i will laugh right now but the cellar looks pretty dark for you guys we have light in pioli come on do real stats if you use them
Hilarious!
Chief Fan is exactly like Patriot Fan, minus the recent period of fraudulent success. In case you guys have forgotten, like the Raiders of late, YOU ARE TERRIBLE! You reveling in the Raiders problems is like the guy who laughs at the rusted out Pinto, while sitting on the hood of his lowered Yugo. Pioli and Haley only guarantee that the used car salesman Carl “Hey! Look at me!” Peterson won’t be around to run your team further into the ground. These two certainly do not guarantee success on the field but good luck pulling yourselves out of the cellar.
And Zach Morris is a fictional television character. Zach MILLER plays TE for the Raiders… idiot.
Raiders fan here
You all seem to believe Al is crazy. Let’s look at what he’s done this offseason. All of his moves have been logical and cheap. He’s been conservative and picking up players that make sense. He’s taking his time and waiting for FA asking prices to go down, and for that I thank Mr. Davis.
. “But in the end, like a drunken gypsy, Al will ignore good sense, his coaches and reality in an attempt to get his Mr. Burns like claws around the shiniest thing he can see.”
wow, really? Let’s look at how good of a drafter he’s actually been. He drafted a strong armed, mobile QB in Russell who has the size and strength to take his hits and get back up. The same can’t be said for your horrid QB’s in Huard, Croyle, or Thigpen. Then he drafted McFadden. You remember McFadden, that blur that ran by your defense in Week 2. Al’s not an idiot when it comes to drafting. I would go into his brilliance in the later rounds, but I have better things to do.
Now then onto your pick. If the draft pans out the way you all have it, then maclin is a great pick. Oakland’s looking for that true #1 receiver that defenses have to respect. Maclin is incredibly fast and has very underrated hands. His route running can be fixed with the help of our great coaching staff. if you’re going to say the coaching sucks, your’s isn’t any better.
If you’re going to use the biased statement, “Al’s desire for the flashiest player,” then technically your pick is wrong. Orakpo would be the flashiest player. It’s no secret Al loves pass rushers. Orakpo would be a beast lined up beside Burgess and would become our DE of the future when Burgess gets shipped out after this year.
Next time, try not to listen to ESPN and actually do some football research.
Good luck with Cassel.
As I stand at the brink of oblivion where the Thorns have ripped the world in two, I look for a new afterlife for us. One where we are neither tortured nor made protectors of the living. I ask if you'll wait for me.....
