Flip this QB?

As I'm sitting here in NJ, a little before midnight, as I'm still celebrating a NY Ranger shootout victory over the Habs,  I'm watching "Flip this House".  It's one of my favorite shows.  They buys a house cheap, fix it up, and sell it at a pretty good profit.  They usually make 40 to 50 grand.

So, I wonder, being that Pioli supposedly stole Cassel for a second round pick, would it beyond Pioli to "flip" him to Denver for a first?  Then keep Thigpen as the starter, and draft a young QB (Sanchez or Stafford) and another first?

Not sure if I'd like to see Cassel and McD together in Denver, but I'm still a Thigpen fan.

It is a possibility

If I were the Chiefs I would definitely listen to any offers in case we get another steal

You would essentially be

Trading a QB with only 1 year of NFL experience for a QB with only 1 year of college experience.

Trading your starting QB for a pick that you would then turn around and use to draft an even less proven QB makes no sense whatsoever. You are giving your division rival their 1st choice of a QB and taking the risk of a completely unknown college player.

Any deal the Chiefs make needs to end up with the Chiefs getting a franchise QB + picks as well. Otherwise we’re giving up the QB of our choice and giving him to your rival.

100% Correct

A trade of Cassel for a 1st makes no sense if you then use a first to draft a QB.

I don't see us trading Cassel

Unless Cutler’s putting on a Chiefs uni, and I don’t see Pioli really wanting to bring his baggage here.

He’s the only ‘talent’ on the market that would be worth dealing Cassel for, and even then you have to ask for something.

All in all, its just really unlikely.

Cassel

Can’t see us trading cassel but maybe:

Wash: Cutler
KC: Den 1st and 4th, Wash 2nd, Jason Cambell
Den: Cassel, Wash 1st, Conditional ’10

The only way we would give up Cassel is for a 1 and/or Multiple high picks. This is not gonna happen though.

Don't think anyones giving up that much for Cassel

Come on. A 1st, 2nd 4th PLUS Campbell? I don’t think so.

Not saying it is going to happen but if Pioli is going to do it he is going to ask for the moon or keep Cassel, no sense doing it if you have the leverage and dont rob the other teams involved.

Flip that house

Always check the original air date for the episode. More recent ones don’t seem to end with them accidentally making 40k while doing everything wrong.

lol

I watch those shows all the time. More and more often many are not selling their flips at all now days.

exactly

it used to be they made profit just by sitting on the house for a few months. The fact that they wasted some cash doing some improvements was only a small proportion of that.

The best ones were the ex-financial traders and the like (wow talk about going from one failing industry to another) who were all “hey I know which end of the hammer to hold, lets demolish stuff” five minutes later the host walks in and says “did you plan to take down that load bearing bit? did you get permits?”

oh the hilarity

The only way

I would see this playing out, and would be happy with the trade is if we gave up cassel to denver, for a 1st and 2nd. Then denver probably dish cassel to washington for a 2nd.

A second first round pick, and replacing our second round pick we gave up for vrabel/cassel would go a long way to solidifying our team. We could pick up Curry, Monroe or one of the other tackles available, Orakpo or even Raji with our #3 pick. Then drop down to our pick from denver at #12, and grab a Cushing or someone to fill in the DL. (even a tackle though the top 3 will be off by then). Then in the 2nd pick up one of the centers in the draft.

Picking up 2/3 of OT/DL/LB in the first, then grabbing the 3rd or a C in the 2nd, and having thigpen run our team next year, with a 3-7th on whomever Pioli sees being a good steal at QB would go a long way to making this team better. Thats pretty much the only situation I can think of that I would like with cassel being traded.
