Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Orakpo has better pass-rush production than Aaron Curry and that is the reason he has moved up to this spot. Curry is going to be a fine player, but so is Orakpo, who can play standing up or with his hand on the ground.

Kirwan thinks we'll take Orakpo over Curry... your opinions?

I think it depends

on exactly what the Chiefs are looking for. As far as overall ability I believe Curry is better. But if we are just looking strictly to have someone who can pass rush, that’s Orakpo. It really does depend on what type of defense we are running next year whether it’s 4-3, or 3-4, or both. Both Curry and Orakpo can play in both. Curry can pretty much play either ILB or OLB in both formations and Orakpo can play DE in 4-3 and OLB in 3-4. I think having Orakpo in the 4-3 makes Hali a better player. When there is someone to take the pressure off him, Hali does better. But I think with Curry there. It’s makes DJ better. He’s able to roam a little more and not have as much pressure on him as well. So it’s really up to Pioli and Haley as to what they want with the defense.

either way..

if we don’t trade down I’m happy picking up either player

Orakpo? Really?

No doubt he has a lot of skill but he’s kind of an unknown when it comes to being a slash player. Kinda like Vernon Gholston, who really wasn’t all that good last year.

I have very little respect for Kirwan

I’ll apologize when he gets something right that I disagree with him on, yet I can’t remember that happening up until now.

Purely in terms of need, I know where he’s going with this, we need a legit 3-4 passrusher more than anything else, but Pioli won’t pass up on a guy he feels is clearly better for an inferior one just b/c its a slightly better fit. Truthfully, we need both types of LB’s, so Curry’s the pick.

He also thinks the Jags are taking Sanchez…I’d love to get in on a wager about that pick.
